Dr Fotios Angelis!Anticipating increased patient numbers, Philip has been on the look-out for a suitable addition to the prosthodontic team for the last 3 years. He is proud to announce that Dr Fotios has been brought onto the team starting the 11th of February. Fotios is a specialist prosthodontist who completed his undergraduate dental degree at the University of Melbourne and then worked in Brighton and Collins Street for 6 years as a general dentist. A desire to further his knowledge and skills in restorative dentistry lead him to complete specialist training at the University of Melbourne. Fotios now returns to the Bayside area to help care for your patients. Away from dentistry, Fotios lives close by with his wife Dani and enjoys skateboarding, birdwatching and making custom slingshots."

Spear Study Club!In August last year, Philip started the first Spear Study Club in Australia with the assistance of Sirona. This has been running successfully for the past 6 months and there is the potential for expansion or an additional group. If you are interested please enquire and some preliminary information can be forwarded to you."

Technology! The practice has alway has a lot of dental “toys” given Philip’s propensity for gadgets. Needless to say technology for the sake of it is pointless, so only helpful technologies have been implemented over the last couple of years. The existing microscope was upgraded with two new Zeiss scopes at the beginning of 2014. This also coincided with the implementation of a new 3Shape TRIOS intra-oral scanner and design software. Philip had been involved in the testing of the first Australia TRIOS scanners with Kulzer Dental leading to improvements in the technology and workflow. We now have a mature system that allows for accurate, comfortable and verified impressions. Philip designs the restorations himself and is responsible for the engineering process. Only then is it delegated to a ceramist to provide a lifelike appearance.
