Diversity & Inclusion
Please ensure this section is completed
Our trustees are aiming to embed diversity and inclusion in all of our activities and networks. Section 8 of our online network handbook contains more information to support our networks in achieving this and our Diversity team have online Guides for Networks that include actions and considerations for committees, and guides for inclusive communications and running inclusive events. Please comment on how your group is showing that it has embraced Diversity and Inclusion within its practices. If you have diversity data from your events or activities, please include this information above. The RSC(South India) section endeavours to embed inclusion and diversity in all its activities. The committee members from both academia and industry as well as a woman member(co-opted) in our committee is an evidence for this. The communications are sent by email to members from various sections so that they will not miss any event organised by our section.. The fliers are printed in bold letters and displayed prominently at various places near the venue. Sometimes sms are sent in addition to the emails. In many of our workshops woman resource persons take active part without any hindrance, The travel . and accommodation arrangements are made in such a way that the members from both the gender can participate in the events without any problem. The lectures and other events are arranged mostly in the ground floor so that the differently abled persons can attend the program even if there is no lift facility. The invited lectures by speakers from various parts of the globe represent a wide range of ethnic origin and age group. The outreach events are essentially meant for the students from schools whereas the senior members and students from university and college attend other events. We have also engaged the researchers from industry in various activities. The postgraduate students are sent to industry during summer holidays for internship and the recruiters from industry are invited to the university for fulfilling their manpower requirement. We are planning to provide ramps near the entry and exit gates for the physically challenged participants. When the language is the barrier, the explanations are provided in the regional language during the outreach programs. There is a considerable number of woman participants in almost all our events and all the above facts indicate the diversity and inclusive nature of our events.
