In 2017, downtown Danville was named the sole Kentucky representative for Main Streets Across America, by National Life Group. Our organization was both excited and humbled to be chosen. This recognition would not have been possible without the overwhelming support we have received from our community. This year, our vision is to make sure that the Heart of Danville (HOD) beats strong, and we hope to do so with partnerships. For the past 31 years, the Heart of Danville has been able to reinvest over $380,000,000 into our community through your support. This investment has created new businesses, new jobs, and business expansions for the Danville community. This year, our organization seeks to find new incentives for business entrepreneurs, new development options, and better ways to recruit the right type of businesses to our community. For our members, we want to create more opportunities for your business to gain positive exposure to the public to market your goods and services. The following are just a few examples of what our organization does on a yearly basis and why we hope YOU will decide to join the Heart of Danville.

PROMOTIONWhether it is developing new community events or creating shopping excitement through Holiday Open House, the Heart of Danville is committed to bringing consumers to the community. The increase in visitors and shoppers to the community and the growth of community events afford individual businesses the opportunity to market their products and services both individually and to an area audience. Printed materials, like our brochures, offer free publicity specifically designed to make registers ring. The Heart of Danville also spearheaded the creation of the Downtown Danville app through the Distrx platform. The app, available for iPhones, tablets, and androids, provides an opportunity to have your business featured alongside maps, attractions, and an event calendar directed to both visitors and locals to downtown.

Beyond events, mobile marketing, and printed materials, the Heart of Danville is the leader in explaining the importance of shopping local, the importance of entrepreneurship, and the absolute necessity to grow and develop our own unique businesses.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENTExisting businesses come to the Heart of Danville seeking our support and technical training with areas like social media, market trends, and tax credits. We produce a monthly e-news designed to give your business, organization, and community the opportunity to succeed. The Heart of Danville understands that giving you information and resources that allow the development of a stronger organization saves you time and money. Incentives are designed to help businesses start-up or expand. We only succeed when you do, and we are committed to your success.

INCENTIVESThe Heart of Danville continues to promote opportunities to help your businesses grow, through the use of Small Improvement Facade Grants and other incentives programs, such as Historic Tax Credits, Energy Efficiency programs, Small Business Expansion incentives, and more. We work hard to find incentives that benefit YOU.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENTWhether the Heart of Danville is aiding businesses through tax credits, aiding developers with exciting new projects, or helping with the promotion of home-based businesses, the Heart of Danville is the leading organic growth organization in Danville. We continue to work to aid businesses to strengthen Danville.

LEADERSHIP THROUGH SERVICEAt the Heart of Danville, we don’t just talk about problems, we work hard to build solutions shoulder to shoulder with community volunteers. With a very small staff and a conservative budget, we make every dollar count to create tangible results for the community. Our work isn’t always glamorous, but positive results often come from getting a little dirt under our fingernails. We do our homework and work to find realistic solutions FOR YOU. Through individual consulting, event expansion, and working with community volunteers, we go beyond 9 to 5 because you do too. We seek to amplify your voice on various issues and seek solutions to problems YOU identify.

There are many other reasons to join the Heart of Danville; certainly, more than I can provide in a letter. We appreciate the nearly 200 members from throughout Danville that trust us on a yearly basis to work hard for them and their community. We love the diversity of our volunteers, in every age, gender, and socio-economic position that work with us to improve our community. We have a lot of work ahead of our organization to produce a vibrant downtown with jobs, development, and economic diversity, but we know we can achieve it with your help.
