Symptoms of Meningiomas

Benign Meningiomas Usually Harmless Not cancerous

Atypical Meningiomas Grow more rapidly than

benign Have a higher chance of

growing back

Malignant or Anaplastic Meningiomas

Form of CANCER!! Also more likely to grow back

Surgery!!

Starting surgery, the skull is cut open.

During the doctors cautiously remove the tumor.

After the wound is then stapled\stitched closed as shown.

Surgery Complications!! Accumulation of fluid 20% develop

seizures after surgery

neurologic problems(muscle weakness,

speech problems, or difficulty with coordination)
