Staffed primarily by Counsellors (CO) but Clinical Therapists (CT) assist (intake, calls between
appointments).
All CO’s and CT’s have or are in process of completing their TEACH certification
The overall goal of the TEACH Project is to offer evidence-based, accredited, accessible, and
clinically relevant curricula to a broad range of health practitioners.
This course is held under the auspices of the Office of Continuing Education and Professional Development,
Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto and Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto, Ontario. The
TEACH Project is a knowledge translation project offering Canada’s only internationally-accredited certificate
program in cessation counselling (Herie et al., 2011; ATTUD). This certificate program provides the context,
background and evidence-based knowledge and skills needed to offer intensive tobacco cessation counselling.

approach, motivational interviewing principles and strengths based approaches.
All clients are met where they are ‘at’ and not directed to quit prior to developing readiness.
