Project Activities• The project regularly shares news, events and highlights 

on social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube 

• Coordinates project community and stakeholder events, and supports and participates in other local events

• Collection of personal stories from local Sacramento County residents

Project ImpactPublic awareness about mental illness and the project 

have increased from 24 to 53 percent.

In addition…• Awareness is increasing! People are recalling messaging about mental illness in general, identifying Sacramento County DBHS as a source and recognizing the tagline “it’s not always what you think”

• Shame and stigma are still serious barriers• Willingness to discuss mental illness and to recommend someone they know seek help continually increased
