Class & Program Registration

Full payment must accompany all registration for classes and programs. Only members in good standing (current in dues payments for the duration of the program) can register or receive members-only discounts. Fees may be paid in person, on line, by mail or telephone. To register over the telephone call (949) 435-3400 and ask for program registration. You may pay by Visa, MasterCard or American Express. The JCC reserves the right to cancel any class for insufficient registration. Participants will be notified as soon as possible and their fees refunded. Some classes may be open to members only. If you are not a member you may register for classes where specified at the public rate.

General Information

Member I.D. Cards: I.D. cards identify you as a JCC member and grant you access to designated areas of the building. You must wear your I.D. badge at all times while in the building. Lost cards will be replaced for a $15 charge.

Membership Payment and RenewalsNew JCC membership is based on a 12-month agreement and is automatically renewable. Membership is billed monthly and continues until notification of cancellation is received. To cancel your membership, a written , notice to the Membership Director ([email protected]) must be submitted at least 30-days in advance and an online exit interview survey must be completed. Membership is not transferable or refundable and participation in physical conditioning and recreational programs is at member’s own risk. Couple, Single/Single Parent, Young Adult and Sponsoring memberships entitle members to year-round use of the fitness and aquatics facility, plus reduced fees for courses and programs. Social memberships entitle you to reduced fees for courses and programs. Families who register their child for the 2014-2015 preschool year must be members of the JCC during the entire school year. A one-year membership is required.

Refund PolicyThere are no refunds for membership, camp, or preschool. For classes the following schedule applies: a full refund if the JCC cancels a class; a full refund minus a $10 administrative fee for withdrawals before class begins; a 50% refund for withdrawal at the end of the first class; no refunds are given after the second class begins. There is a $25 charge for returned checks.

Financial AdjustmentsScholarship memberships are awarded for day care, preschool, summer camp and the Club J afterschool program only. No one is denied JCC membership due to inability to pay. Adjusted fees are available for those unable to pay the full fee. Contact Marcia Clark (949) 435-3400 ext. 312. Scholarship funds are available through the generosity of our Sponsoring Members who ensure that membership is open to all.

Mondays, 1:15-2 p.m.$100 members, $120 public Students learn ballet steps and French terminology as they dance to their favorite princess songs. Classes encourage creative expression and promote, flexibility, rhythm, socialization and muscle toning. At the final class students will perform their routine for family and friends in the theater. Dress attire: Ballet/jazz shoes, tights and leotard are recommended but not required.

Indoor/Outdoor Soccer, Ages 4-5

Mondays, 1:15-2 p.m.Members only $100. Max. 20Your child will learn soccer fundamentals including dribbling, shooting, passing, offensive and defensive strategy. New! Little Rembrandts: Art Around the World, Ages 3 -5

Mondays, 1:15-2 p.m.$100 members, $120 publicArt around the World provides young artists with a creative outlet as they learn about dif-ferent cultures and create projects inspired by that country. From Africa to Japan, from ceramics to painting, children will travel the world, one masterpiece at a time. Art, especially drawing, painting and clay, helps to develop fine motor skills and promotes problem solving. All materials provided.

Tuesdays, 1:15-2 p. m.$120 members, $140 publicThis class introduces children to different methods and materials and encourages them to express themselves while devel-oping fine motor skills in age-appropriate ways. This mixed media class includes clay, jewelry making, painting, and collage. Some of our projects use recycled materials which gives children a beginning sense of earth-friendly art practices with the use of everyday objects.

Legos, patterns, blocks, math! Ages 3-5

Tuesdays 1:15-2 p.m. Members only $120Legos, patterns, blocks, math, oh my! Does your child love playing with Legos? Does your child like manipulating blocks into fun patterns and unique creations? Math is everywhere. Students in this class will learn the joys of sorting, organizing, counting and patterning while playing with Legos, pattern blocks, wooden blocks and many more manipulatives. Storybook Sports Ages 3-5

Wednesdays, 1:15-2 p.m. Members only $120In this high energy music class, we sing and dance our way through the “Wonderful World of Animals.” As students learn about different instruments and beginning music theory, they quickly pick up the rhythms and the names of all the notes. Little Rembrandts: Clay Day at the J, Ages 3-5

Thursdays, 1:15 - 2 p.m.$120 members, $140 publicWorking with clay benefits children’s devel-opmental level and stimulates curiosity. This strong expressive medium motivates a child to work for longer periods and can improve the attention span of some children. Kids will learn to coil, pinch pots, make relief art projects and sculpt out of clay. A few paint-ing and drawing projects will be included to provide a bit of variety during the course of this class. All materials provided.

Hip-Hop, Ages 3-5 Thursdays, 1:15-2 p.m.$120 for members, $140 publicThis high energy class teaches basic Hip-Hop moves step by step to the latest popular music. Classes promote confidence, coordination, muscle toning, flexibility and allows students to develop their own sense of style. This semester we explore original tales from many countries and create works of art to reflect the characters. Through the introduction and demonstration of a variety of collage techniques, students are encouraged to draw on personal interests and experi-ences in order to develop their own artistic voice. The class will incorporate a variety of found media: magazine images and photographs, as well as non-traditional materials and some clay days thrown in.

Capture the Flag

Grades 2-5 Wednesday 3:45-4:30Members only $116In this team based action game the goal is to locate and recover the opposing team’s flag before they do the same! The class promotes teamwork and strategy as childdren work together to succeed as a unit.

Scientific Surprises NEW!

Can these experiments really work? Are they illusions or real? What makes them different and fun? As we move through them we’ll discover that science has some quirky outcomes.

Super Artists

Grades K-5: Wednesday 3:45-4:30Club J is looking for super students who have an interest in art! Students will learn how to draw their favorite characters from the year’s most popular movies. Students will develop their drawing skills while having fun creating art with their favorite characters from Frozen and The Lego Movie.

Line Dancing NEW!

Grades K-5: Wednesday 3:45-4:30Members $116, Public $184Yeehaw! Come learn a new kind of dancing with Rhythm Motion. In this fun, new class students will learn basic line dancing steps every week. At the end of the session, students will perform what they learned for Showcase. This is a great class for everyone-from brand new danc-ers to seasoned veterans who are looking for something new.

Beginning Chess

Grades K-5Wednesday 3:45-4:30Members $116, Public $184Students will learn the basics of playing chess, such as piece movements, the general rules (ranging from checkmate to stalemates), and basic tactics. Part of each class will consist of an interactive lesson about chess piece movement or strategy and then play time to practice. All levels welcome!

Students will learn more advanced moves and strategies and have time to practice them while playing with their friends. After reading a summary of a theatrical play, students will design the costumes they would give each character in the story. This energetic class taught by the fun staff from Rhythm Motion will not only teach you Hip Hop movements and technique, but will also instill rhythm and precision in your muscle memory as well as freestyle movement to give students the opportunity to develop their own sense of style.

Cool Art for Cool Kids, Ages 6+

June 16-20, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.Our JCC Michael Cage Basketball Camp consists of skill development drills, competitions, and games while having fun. Coach Cage uses his NBA and life experiences along with a wealth of basketball knowledge to teach passing, dribbling, shooting, rebounding and developing a high basketball IQ. We focus on the fundamentals and ensure that each player receives the maximum amount of attention. Campers will also compete in league games that put their newly learned skills into action.

An emphasis on fun and family for the younger swimmers develops into a gradual increase in commitment over a period of years. Every unique group for children emphasizes the joy of swimming while introducing beginning swimming techniques. The “pre-team” portion of the class teaches the fundamental motor skills of swimming with an emphasis on correct body placement. The WAVES offer competitive and non-competitive tracks for swimmers to follow once they finish with swim lessons.
