Mercedes College Dear Parents, Staff and Students of the Mercedes College Community, 2011 School Leaders To become a School Leader at Mercedes is an arduous process. The process is detailed and the competition is of the highest quality. Last week the election results were collated and I am very pleased to announce that the following students will lead our College in 2011. Antony Curnow (11CL), Rebecca McCarthy (11CS), Naomi Francis (11LD) and Luke Crocker (11DG). My congratulations go to each of these students and I look forward to working with them in the coming twelve months. I would also like to thank those students who put themselves forward but who were not successful and hope to see them take on other leadership roles next year. The Spirit of Mercy – the Mercy Oration Two weeks ago we held our annual Mercy Oration. This has become an important date on the school calendar and each year we have been privileged to hear a variety of speakers explore the way that the spirit of mercy has touched their lives. This year we heard the powerful accounts of three speakers who in different ways have come to Australia as refugees. We heard of the perilous journey taken by our Lieutenant Governor, Mr Hieu Van Le who with his wife came to Australia as a boat person at the end of the Vietnam War. Mr Le’s graphic tale of a journey which ultimately ended when, off the coast of Darwin, he and his fellow refugees were welcomed to Australia by a fisherman with a laconic g’day mate, was a riveting story. Further we heard from Mrs Mary Latha who with her family came to Australia from Bangalore. Mary stressed how important it was that she made contact with people who were prepared to assist her by answering basic questions that allowed her to adapt to such a new culture. Finally we heard from Mr Sidique Bah a refugee from Sierra Leone who once again could not have survived without some very simple but vital kindness from the ordinary people he met along the way. In each case ordinary people made a huge difference in the lives of these people when they were at their most vulnerable. We were left in no doubt that regardless of what governments around the world may or may not do for displaced people, each and every one of us can make a difference by just showing some compassion and respect for a fellow human being. The Spirit of Mercy – Intercol Last Saturday we hosted the 6th Intercol with St Ignatius’ College. Organisation was a challenge as we struggled to find an oval for the Football matches but after much hard work and many long hours Mr Bill Gaynor came through and we were able to arrange the Flinders University Oval. Thank you to Bill for his incredible dedication to the College and the concept of Intercol. Before the events began we were feeling like the underdogs as, through injury, we had experienced some key losses of personnel in a number of teams. Our investigations had also led us to believe that a number of the St Ignatius’ teams were more highly ranked than ours. Intercol now comprises of 20 shields and we were treated to some amazing performances by the students from both Colleges. The spirit displayed was a credit to both Colleges and all competitors were humble in victory and gracious in defeat. Well done! Fortunately most of the Intercol events are held on the Saturday as after a week of very inclement weather the sun shone brightly throughout most of the day. My sympathies though go to our courageous Hockey players who played on Friday afternoon when the worst of the showers hit. Their commitment was wonderful as conditions were more appropriate for Water Polo than Hockey. As there is every year at Intercol there were many fine team and individual performances and at the end of Saturday the spirit of Mercy prevailed and we successfully won 12 shields. Thank you and congratulations to all players and coaches on a job well done. continued over the page... Dear Parents, Staff and Students of the Mercedes College Community,

2011 School LeadersTo become a School Leader at Mercedes is an arduous process.

The Spirit of Mercy – the Mercy OrationTwo weeks ago we held our annual Mercy Oration.

Mr Le’s graphic tale of a journey which ultimately ended when, off the coast of

Darwin, he and his fellow refugees were welcomed to Australia by a fisherman with a laconic g’day mate, was a riveting story. Further we heard from Mrs Mary Latha who with her family came to Australia from Bangalore. Mary stressed how important it was that she made contact with people who were prepared to assist her by answering basic questions that allowed her to adapt to such a new culture. A Friday Thought

“Seek not to have more, but to be more.”

These words of Oscar Romero are provocative. He rather reluctantly entered into a journey which led, eventually, to his martyrdom: shot dead while saying Mass in 1980. His initial preference was for civil authority and church authority to operate with mutual respect and with lines of demarcation between the temporal and the spiritual. As the oppression of the poor became more overt and brutal in his native El Salvador he faced a choice. In the end he decided that he could not remain silent in the face of duplicity, greed, torture and murder. As a result, the military leadership of the country moved ruthlessly to silence him.

But here perhaps is the irony of “being more”. Instead of being a competent church administrator, and good man of prayer, who sank without trace into the passing of time, Archbishop Romeo has become a figure of church authority in whom many find inspiration. He made radical choices about what really matters and it is always helpful to us of lesser bravery to reflect upon such a commitment and his enduring legacy of working for a more just world.

Helicopter Visit and R-7 Fun RunFriday 13 August proved to be an exciting day for our students. Blessed with fine weather, students gathered on the Main Oval to welcome the Channel 7 Helicopter and the TV media personalities, Melody Horrill and John Riddell. Each class had crafted a question to ask to learn more about the media and media life. Both Melody and John were highly entertaining and provided many insights for the students. They commented on the level of the questions and were clearly impressed with the inquiring minds of our students.

Melody and John were great sports officially starting the annual Fun Run and enjoyed witnessing our students’ obvious enthusiasm and spirit to run as many laps as possible to raise money for various charities.

Action is a significant component of the International Baccalaureate philosophy encouraging students to undertake purposeful and responsible service to others as a result of their learning. The Fun Run provides an opportunity for each year level to nominate a

charity that is of importance to them and directly related to their learning. R-5 students ‘ran’ for the following charities:

Reception: RSPCAYr 1: Fred Hollows Australian CharityYr 2: Save the ChildrenYr 3: McGuinness McDermott FoundationYr 4: Guide DogsYr 5: Australian Orangutan Project and ZAA Wildlife Conservation Fund

It was wonderful to observe students running and walking, and having fun while enjoying fitness as a community. Thank you to a number of parents who also took to the track or encouraged students to ‘go the extra mile.’

I would like to thank all staff and Year 8JK for their energy, support and words of encouragement. It was certainly a great team effort. I would like to particularly acknowledge Mr Jeffrey Wray for his excellent organisation of this event.

International Competitions and Assessments (ICAS) CompetitionsAs you are aware, students choose to participate in a range of ICAS Competitions throughout the year. To date we have received the Science, Writing and Spelling results and I am excited to announce the outstanding achievements below. Congratulations to all students who took part in the competitions.

Induction Day and Class ListsIn preparation for Induction Day, which will take place on Friday 12 November, class teachers will soon commence the complex task of student placements. This process involves teachers meeting regularly leading up to Induction Day to ensure that a range of criteria are met. Some of these include balance of gender, mixed ability, combinations of students who are most likely to work well together, and supportive friendships. Teachers make informed decisions based on their observations and the data they have collected over the year, and often, previous years. In partnership with parents, we work towards providing the best educational outcomes for all of our students.

Please notify me in writing, including by email, should you have a specific request for your child/children. ([email protected]) I ask you to include the educational reasons for your request in order for it to be considered. As staff placements for 2010 are not finalised, and may not be until late in the year, I would ask that you do not request specific teachers. Please note that requests for placements should not be made to class teachers. Where possible, we will endeavour to meet requests, and may contact you for further discussion. Once classes are finalised for Induction Day, no changes will be possible.

Staff NewsI would like to wish Mr Shane Murphy, who is currently on Long Service Leave for the remainder of this term, much enjoyment especially with his travels. Mrs Tracey Cramond has been appointed as Junior School Coordinator and Mr Simon Munn as PYP Coordinator in Shane’s absence. I am sure both Tracey and Simon will enjoy this opportunity as we in return benefit from their expertise and skills.

La Journée Française 2010

On Wednesday 11 August it was La Journée Française (French Day) for the Junior School. The day began with l’Assemblée Française where each class was involved in an act. The Receptions sang a song about transport, Year 1 sang a song about a ghost in the house, Year 2 spoke about French impressionist paintings, Year 3 sang a body song in 4 languages, Year 4 performed a “Master Chef” play about food and Year 5 presented some Photostories they created about endangered animals.

From the Middle School

Thank You!It was wonderful to be so warmly welcomed back to school by students, staff and parents following my Long Service Leave at the beginning of this term. Whilst it is not always easy to get back into the swing of things after a long break, one of the most pleasing aspects of my return has been the number of students who have stopped me in the yard to say “Hello” and to ask how my break went. I believe this is indicative of the type of relationship that develops between staff and students here at Mercedes and the genuine respect, care and interest in others that is regularly displayed by Mercedes students.

I would particularly like to thank Mrs Caty Jarvis for the fantastic work that she did as the Acting Head of Middle School during the first five weeks of Term 3. Caty has always worked professionally and respectfully with staff, students and parents alike, and it was pleasing to know that the Middle School was in such good hands during my absence. There is no doubt in my mind that my transition back into the day to day aspects of my role has been greatly assisted by the manner in which Caty managed the role. I know that Caty would in turn like to acknowledge the support that she received from the Middle School staff, students and parents during her acting role.

Book WeekBook Week took place from Monday 23 until Friday 27 August. It is the longest running children’s festival in Australia and is celebrating its 65th Birthday in 2010. The theme of this year’s Book Week was Across the Story Bridge. The Library hosted an exciting week of events. For the second year running we had Living Books - where people came in and shared their life experiences with students. A diverse range of speakers from Publishers, Kokoda Track participants and business people entertained us throughout the week. Special thanks go to Ms Annie Hall and the library staff for their hours and hours of much appreciated preparation.

IntercollegiateThe annual Intercollegiate started on Wednesday 18 August (Cross-Country) and continued onto Friday 20 (Debating and Chess) and Saturday 21 August with various sporting events across the venues of Waite Oval, Flinders University Oval and Mercedes College. There was an atmosphere of friendly and respectful competition maintained throughout these activities and it was pleasing to see our students giving their all representing Mercedes College. I would like to congratulate all of the Middle School students who played in games against St Ignatius’ during our Intercollegiate weekend, as well as thanking the coaches, staff, parents and families for their wonderful support at these competitions. Special thanks must go to Mr Bill Gaynor, Ms Jackie Kerr, Mr Matt Smith, Mrs Paula Gerlach and their counterparts at St Ignatius’, for the time and effort that they invested to ensure that all events ran smoothly.

The Intercollegiate competition is the culmination for many of our winter sports competitions; consequently this is an opportune time to thank the many staff, Old Collegians, parents and friends of the College who have assisted with teams throughout the Term 2/3 competitions. We could not run these teams without their assistance and our students benefit greatly from their willingness to share their time and expertise. Thanks also to the students for their wonderful and enthusiastic participation throughout the winter season.

Student Free DayStudents and parents are reminded of the Student Free Day that takes place on Friday 10 September. This Staff Retreat Day is held during the Royal Adelaide Show and thus represents a perfect

opportunity for students to attend the Show. I would ask that parents support the school by ensuring that students do not attend the Show during school hours on any of the days preceding this opportunity. Thank you in anticipation of your support.

Exchange Student Reflection

Hi my name is Gulliaume, and for the past 2 months Aymeric and I have attended the beautiful Mercedes College. Before embarking on this exciting trip, a lot of preparation was essential. The first obstacle we had to face was getting to know each other, as we were going to be each others backbone for the time spent in Adelaide.

The flight was not as long as we had anticipated, but once we were here time flew and by the end we did not want to leave. Throughout our time spent in this wonderful country we have come to a conclusion that it is a wonderful and different place to live in, where all the residents are extremely nice.

Throughout our time spent at the College we have improved our English due to the wonderful help of the highly educated teaching staff. The impeccable grounds and big buildings were extremely overwhelming when we arrived at the College. We have really embraced the fact that everyone has been so friendly in order to make sure that we didn’t feel like strangers in our new environment, just new students to Mercedes College.

We highly recommend this wonderful school, to any other future students that wish to attend, as it was a terrific experience that we will never forget. Our only disappointment, however, was that the trip was too short in order to embrace every aspect not just of the College but of the whole community.

We hope one day we can pick up where we left off and reunite with the Australian friends we have made.

Many thanks to the students and teaching staff of Mercedes College and everyone else that makes this wonderful community a magnificent and friendly place.

Information UpdateStage 2 SACEResearch ProjectAs part of the new SACE, the Research Project is a compulsory subject students must undertake in order to satisfy Stage 2 requirements. This subject will be completed by all SACE students in Year 12 in the first semester.

The Research Project is a 10-credit, inter-disciplinary subject giving students the opportunity to study an area of interest in depth. It allows students to use their creativity and initiative, while developing the research and presentation skills they will need in further study or work. Like other Stage 2 subjects, 70% of a student’s work in this subject will be assessed by the school and 30% will be assessed externally through the SACE Board. They must achieve a C grade or better to successfully complete this subject.

To prepare students for this Stage 2 subject we will be implementing a compulsory Research Methods unit in Year 11 involving lecture/information sessions and activities every Monday afternoon in Lessons 6 and 7 (Mercy Lecture Theatre) following the completion of Community Service requirements.

The first session will be on Monday 30 August, introducing students to the nature and purpose of the Research Project and clarifying learning and assessment requirements.

Subsequent sessions will guide students through the research process including:• Initiating, Planning and Managing Research• Defining a Topic• Time Management• Ethics• Carrying out Research• Where to Find Information• Plagiarism and Copyright Issues• Maintaining Records, Logs, Evidence• Communicating Research Outcomes• Identifying the Intended Audience• Forms of Communication• Analysis of Data• Evaluating Research• Use of Timelines to Monitor Progress• Obtaining Feedback

We are also intending to visit the State and Barr-Smith Libraries in Term 4 to facilitate student research. The programme is expected to conclude on Monday 8 November.

Our aim is to equip all Year 11 students with the necessary skills and resources to successfully complete their Research Project in Year 12.

We will endeavour to keep you updated with other developments as they arise.

Family Matters

Teenagers, Alcohol and PartiesThis was the theme of the information evening held for parents of students in the Middle and Senior Schools on 17 August 2010.

Across the College, we have been working to redevelop the “Drug Education Policy”, a copy of which will appear in the 2011 College Handbook. We have refined procedures for managing the consumption of alcohol at College events held on campus or where students are present and we have prepared an information booklet for Senior School parents which among a range of topics, includes considerations for managing safe parties.

With the assistance of a funding grant from Catholic Education SA, we have also revamped how alcohol education is incorporated into the curriculum across the College, but in particular, throughout the Senior School.

During the Information Evening, College staff Mr Paul Jarvis (PE and Health Coordinator 6-12) and Mr Michael Francis (Year 12 Coordinator) outlined the ways in which alcohol and other drug education has been integrated into the Health curriculum as well as the Growth and Personal Skills pastoral care programme across the Middle and Senior Schools. The emphasis is upon providing early education, prior to the time students are likely to be practically applying what they are learning and on strategies to keep themselves and others safe.

Guest speakers, Mary Carmody, Senior Education Advisor with Catholic Education SA and Terri Judd, Project Officer with the Federation of Catholic Schools Parent Communities, presented a lively session on how adults shape the beliefs young people develop about alcohol, what constitutes a “standard” alcoholic drink, how parents can communicate with their teenagers, together with tips for managing teenage parties. Here the emphasis was on developing open communication with young people and with other parents to ensure the safety and well being of our young people.

The evening was informative and interactive and an open and lively discussion ensued.

Handouts were made available during the evening on curriculum offerings, as well as general information about alcohol and managing parties. If you were unable to attend the information evening, please contact me on 8372 3200 if you would like a copy of the information that was made available.

Planning is beginning on a combined Student and Parent Information Evening for 2011 so keep a watch out for publicity for this event.

Special thanks to the Mercedes Parents and Friends Association for hosting the information evening and to our informative guest presenters.

We look forward to offering an informative evening for parents with Susan McLean on “Cybersafety” on Tuesday 19 October 2010.

Other vacancies exist for parents of children in the Middle and Junior Schools. The Committee Chair is Mr Peter Shanahan and the first meeting will be convened toward the end of Term 3. Please seriously consider these important positions on a committee that provides strategic guidance to sport at Mercedes. Please respond to [email protected] within the next two weeks.

Old Scholar, Stefan Rudevics was recently selected to represent Australia as a wrestling judge at the coming Commonwealth Games in New Delhi. In 2003, Stefan was the Boy’s Sport Leader. He competed in the National Schools Wrestling Competition held at Sydney Olympic Park that year, in the U/18 69 kgs division and remained undefeated in a strongly contested competition winning a Gold Medal. This was a major win for Stefan and this achievement opened up many opportunities for him in the sport over the next few years. He moved into officiating as a referee and is the youngest person assigned from the “Commonwealth” to referee.

He joins Gabriel Cole who is in the Australian Track and Field team and possibly Natalie Medhurst, a strong Netball contender.

Correction: In a recent edition of the Fleur de Lis, I reported inaccurately that the Open Boys Soccer team were runners up in Pool B of the 2009 State wide Knockout Competition. In fact, the team won the title in 2009 and were runners up in 2008, so the progression under coach, Paul Vanis has been excellent. The boys were presented at assemblies on two occasions at the end of 2009 for this outstanding achievement. In 2010, the Open Boys recently finished 3rd in the Division One competition involving 11 schools. There are approximately 23 schools entered across two divisions, so this is a magnificent achievement from quite a young team spread across Year 10, 11 and 12 and were led very well each week by Nicholas Davis. Saturday’s win against St Ignatius’ College left the team with a SAAS record of two losses, one tie and ten wins with the lowest goals kicked against them of any school in the competition. Rostrevor College finished premiers of the competition, followed by St Peter’s College. Mercedes could possibly meet PAC in the KO finals, should the Open As defeat Salisbury East on Friday of this week at Waite Oval, 1:30pm. In 50 matches the team is undefeated at Waite Oval.

The 6th Intercollegiate was held last week against St Ignatius’. The wet weather played havoc with facilities and early in the week, a Football ground was the highest item on the “wanted” list after Kingswood, Mitcham, Mortlock Park, Edwardstown, Glenunga, Adelaide University, Kenilworth and many other facilities were deemed unusable or unavailable due to Amateur League Finals. Waite Oval struggled to handle the Soccer traffic whilst the main oval catered well with the demands placed upon it. Flinders University Oval was probably the best conditioned oval in the Adelaide’s South Eastern Zone and we have Mr David Trott at Flinders University to thank for his help and support for the final few games and the Year 8 and 9 Football.

In all it was a great few days of competition leading off with some terrific Cross Country running at a damp Waite Oval during the SAAS State Teams Championship. St Ignatius’ won a tightly contested, wet Hockey match at the Adelaide Hockey

Club whilst Table Tennis and Debating followed at Mercedes with some dominant performances from St Ignatius’. St Ignatius’ also won the 1st XV111 Football and two of three Basketball Shields. The Soccer fields were clearly dominated by Mercedes teams with the Open A and B Boys and Girls taking the honours along with the Open Cs.

The Clive Marling/Caroline Chisholm Shield was accepted by Open A Girls Co-Captains, Simone Cameron, Elisabeth Romeo and Margaret Kyprianou.

The Tony O’Doherty/Loyola Open A Boys Shield was accepted by team Captain, Nicholas Davis.

The girl’s Netball efforts were superb with five of six wins and the Open A girls had the MVP Medal presented by Natalie Medhurst, current Australian Netball team member. Natalie is a likely representative at the Australian Commonwealth Games Netball team to travel to New Delhi.

We were also fortunate to have past Deputy Principal, Mr John Fanning attend the Cross Country, Soccer, Netball and Football games as well as a visit by past Principal, Mr Chris McCabe and his wife Denise to the 1st XV111 Football.

Wayne Broadbridge presented the 1st XV111 Troy Broadbridge Shield to the St Ignatius’ Captain Sam Chippendale and the MVP medal was presented by Sam and Sarah Broadbridge to Luke Crocker. The Overall Shield was accepted by Mercedes Sport Captains, Nicholas Maher and Hannah Snelling.

A special thank you is extended to all members of the Mercedes Parents & Friends Association led so ably by Mrs Jenny Dunstan and supported by Mrs Heather Sambrook and Mrs Pauline Crocker. Parent helpers on the day were outstanding as they ensured all venues offered adequate food and drink. Mercedes ground staff, Michael, John, Adam, Bruce Rick and Kym were all very much hands on in transporting all the wares to the different venues. Mr Matt Smith’s contributions to the day were excellent especially at Waite Oval.

A small sub committee of parents appointed via the Sports Advisory Committee will constitute a working party to coordinate the 2012 Intercollegiate.

10 Pin BowlingThe State Trials for 10 Pin Bowling were held at Woodville and Salisbury last Saturday and Sunday. The trails consisted of 8 games on each day with the top 15 going through to the next round on Sunday. After the first day, Li-Sheng Yeoh was sitting 2nd, 150 pins away from first place. On Sunday, on the 8th and final game, Li ‘struck’ out, in the last couple of frames to win by 1 solitary pin!

By finishing first, Li was accepted into the South Australian President Shield Team for 2011. The team consists of 7 boys and 7 girls who will represent South Australia in an Interstate teams competition later in the year. Li was appointed boys Captain in his 2nd year in this State Team.

8-12 Girls Sport ReportIt has been an action packed end to the winter sport season culminating in our Intercollegiate competition against St Ignatius’ College. Saturday 14 August was the play off round for the girls Netball and Soccer teams. Despite having an unsettled season due

to fielding under-manned teams, the Year 11 and 12 Soccer teams battled it out for first position. It was a very close game with both teams playing extremely well but in the end the Year 12 girls were victors winning the game 1-0. The Year 10 Soccer team also had an unsettled season and played off for 5th position. At the final whistle the score was tied at 3-3. This meant that the match had to be decided on penalties, with the Year 10 girls emerging victorious.

The Junior Girls Soccer teams were equally as successful with the Gold team playing for 3rd position in the A Grade competition and the Green team playing for 1st position in the B Grade competition. Both teams have enjoyed a successful season and it is pleasing to see the amount of skill development from all girls involved.

Our Netball teams have had a strong season with 8 of our 17 teams playing off for 1st position. Despite the extremely wet conditions and very slippery ball all teams played exceptionally well on the day. It is pleasing to see the strong culture of this sport within our

College and all the girls who played both Netball and Soccer are to be congratulated on their hard work throughout the season. Finally, I would like to congratulate and thank the coaches for all their hard work and dedication throughout the season. It is due to their constant efforts that we experience such success within the Girls Sport arena.

Trainings for Term 4 sports will begin from Week 8 onwards and the draws will be available towards the end of Term 3. I wish to remind parents that once their daughter has nominated to play for a team then they are expected to fulfil their commitment to that team for the entire season. A copy of the draw for your daughter’s team can be obtained via email ([email protected].

Intercollegiate Com-petitionThe girls had a very successful Intercollegiate campaign starting with a convincing win by the Cross Country runners on Wednesday afternoon at Waite Oval.

On Saturday morning the Open A and B Soccer Girls competed at Waite Oval. The Open A Girls took a commanding lead before half time and continued strongly to win the game 3-1 with goals being scored by Katherine Ebbs (1) and Elisabeth Romeo (2). Unfortunately the Open B Girls began with only 9 players until a couple of girls from the Junior team came to lend a hand. This meant that St Ignatius’ took an early lead but the girls fought back courageously and ended up winning the game 2-1, with Elizabeth Ward and Yan Yan Smales both scoring goals. The Junior Soccer team had a commanding lead in their game also until they graciously gave away two of their best players to help out in the Open B team. Regrettably they ended up losing 7-4 after leading up until half time.

It was also a very exciting and nail-biting time at the Netball. The Open A girls were very determined to win this year and got off to an early lead winning the first quarter 6-4. St Ignatius’, however, were not going to give in easily and the scores were level at half time 12-12. The game continued with neither team giving an inch and at the final whistle the game was tied 20-20. This meant that the game had to go into extra time. The girls fought valiantly making some good intercepts and literally throwing themselves all over the court to take out the game by only 2 points 28-26.

After a slow start, which their Captain blamed on a lack of focus before the game due to being distracted by the crowd and the excitement of the Open A game, the Open B Girls found themselves 6-0 down at the end of the first quarter. After some inspiring words from their coach Mrs Jayne Taeuber they quickly sprang into action and began working the ball expertly down the court to come back to level the score at 7-7 at half time. They then continued to go from strength to strength, keeping the St Ignatius’ team scoreless throughout the third quarter and finally emerged victors with the score at the final whistle being 13-9.

The Open C team began their game very strongly and took the lead 6-4 after the first quarter. They then continued to dominate throughout and won their match convincingly 30-15. The Junior teams were also impressive on the day with the 10A team winning 24-19, the 9A team winning 22-10 and the 8A team losing by only 2 points 26-28.

The MVP recipients for the competition were:Cross Country: Open A – Eleanor WardleworthSoccer: Open A – Brigid Symes Open B – Madeleine D’AngeloNetball: Open A – Jessica Stratfold Open B – Sarah Batty Open C – Helen Simpson

The girls competed for six shields throughout the competition and were victorious in winning all six. Their determination, sportsmanship and athleticism was outstanding and each and every one of them can be proud of the part they played throughout the week, not only on the court or pitch but also in the way they encouraged and supported their team mates as well as the girls participating in the Junior teams. I would also like to thank all the parents and supporters for their help throughout the competition.
