Mercury was named by the Romans after the fleet-footed messenger of the gods because it seemed to move more quickly than any other planet. It is the closest planet to the Sun, and second smallest planet in the solar systems diameter is 40% smaller than Earth and 40% larger than the Moon.Interior of mercury.

The rotation of mercury is very strange. 100ds of years it was thought to rotate so that it was always kept one face to the sun. Its actual rotation causes it to turn exactly one and a half times each time it goes around the sun. Mercury rotates once every 58.647 days. Which is exactly 2/3 of its orbital period of 87.970 days. It turns on its axis exactly 1 ½ times during one of its years.

Mercury is 46 million KM from the Sun. Which is 28million miles. Mercury is 77 million KM from the Earth. Which is 48 million miles.

Its radius is a mere 2,439.7km. Mercury is the smallest planet closest to the sun. Its so small that other planets moons from other planets are larger than mercury. At 5.472 g/cm3 Mercury has the second largest density in the Solar System. Its is the biggest thing in common that earth and mercury share. Mercury's gravity is only a third of how strong earths gravity is

The side facing the sun is amazingly hot. Its around 430 °C. Yet that same place on the planet can plunge to -163 °C when its on the dark side. Because of the axial tilt some parts of the poles never receive sun light and can stay at (-183 °c).

The composition of Mercury is similar to most other terrestrial planets because at it's core it also has a metal iron core which is extremely large, and a rocky mantle made of silicate which is a type of rock or metal that is like a combine.

Mercury has a thin Atmosphere. It contains hydrogen and helium and oxygen. It has smaller amounts of

sodium, potassium and calcium and magnesium. Mercury is almost no

Atmosphere. The planets small size means that’s its gravity is to weak to

hold down a normal Atmosphere. Mercury's thin Atmosphere contently

being blown away into space by pressure of sunlight and by the solar

wind.

MERCURY HAS ABSOLUTLY NO MOONS!!

Mercury has a mean surface temperature of 452 k, But it ranges from 90-700 k. The sunlight on Mercury's surface is 6.5 times as strong as it is on earth. For a period of about 800 million years Mercury was heavily bombarded by comets and Asteroids. There are others of massive properties such as Caloris, the largest structure on the surface of mercury with a diameter of 1,300 km.

See the resemblance of mercury and the moon. They look alike.

I don’t know if you would really want to go to mercury cause were ever you might go on that planet you will be very hot or very cold. Mercury has a magnetic field. But were not sure about the rest of the planet cause we've only actually seen half the planet. But I wouldn't want to visit mercury cause of the temperature and no air in space.

Mercury is hot! But only were the sun points on it.

Mercury is also cold on some parts of it

Life on mercury wouldn’t look that good. They wouldn’t look like the normal person. They would have a weird color skin. They would probably have like 5 eyes and 3 legs. I wouldn’t want to meet one of them.
