Hello All!

I hope that each on you are enjoying this Christmas season! I am sure that a great deal of preparation is occurring for the many events and activities planned. I want to encourage you to make sure to take moments throughout this time to refocus on what is the most important aspect of this time of year. Let your children, grandchildren, and those around you see you as an example of how to put Christ at the center of it all. Rather than you being an example of a person who is constantly busy preparing—but never really enjoying anything. This year is coming to a close, but we still have several fun things planned in the children’s ministry. Kid’s Night Out is December 13th! This is for children ages 6 weeks—6th grade. There is no cost, we will provide a pizza dinner, and the evening will be full of games, fellowship, Bible Stories, and fun! The deadline to register is December 10th, and can be done online or by calling the office. On December 18th, our kids grades 1st—6th will be going Christmas Caroling! We will visit several families from our church who are currently unable to come to church due to physical challenges. We will meet in the Garden Room that evening at 6:00 and will be ready for parents to pick up at 8:00. Preschool activities will be extended to 8 as well that evening.

The Sanctuary Choir is looking forward to presenting this year’s Christmas Cantata to you. We hope that it is a blessing to you this Christmas season. Come and join us December 22nd at 11 a.m. The cantata will be immediately followed by a church-wide “Thanksmas” Meal. It will be a wonderful morning of worship and fellowship! We have an opportunity to serve at Providence Village for their Christmas Parties. Please contact me if you would be able to serve on December 10th or 12th. We need 10 servers to help each of those nights. Consider if you would be able to come and serve on either or both of those nights. We encourage you to join us on December 24th at 5:30 as we come together to celebrate the birth of Jesus at our Christmas Eve Service. This will be an evening of worshipping and acknowledging the great love that was the reason that Jesus was sent to earth one night many, many years ago! Is there a better way to prepare for Christmas?

The WHBC Nominating Committee members move the nomination of Phillip and Ainsley Moore to teach the High School Youth Sunday School Class. A complete slate of names nominated for teaching positions will be brought to the business meeting. The Personnel Committee moves the adoption of the new personnel Policy and Procedures without any changes or corrections. Copies will be available for review in the church office. Committee on Committees will be bringing a final slate of nominations to fill the spots rotating off in 2019 to the business meeting.

The Church Growth Council will bring the following motion. To amend the bylaws in section 4, pages 12 & 13 by adding: #7 “Each Committee, such as the Committee on Committees, Finance/Stewardship/Budget Committee, Nominating Committee, Personnel Committee and the Pastoral Search Committee, will consist of a balanced representation from the various ministries of the church.” Per the bylaws, this amendment will be offered to the members at the December 18th business meeting for further discussion and vote. A 3/4 majority of the members present is needed to adopt this amendment to the bylaws. The vote will be conducted by secret ballot.
