Hope you’ve had a wonderful Holiday season, whatever tradition you celebrated. Our December meeting was fabulous. There was lots of laughter, great food, and the paintings the artists brought for the paint-ing exchange were phenomenal. Many of the paintings were “stolen” until they received their final red sticker. Hats off to everyone for creating wonderful art and making the evening such a success.
Our January meeting features attorney Bryce K. Earl, who will be discuss-ing copyright law and other legal aspects of the art world. It promises to be a very enlightening and informative event, so please mark your calendars and plan to attend. Many of us focus on the creation of our artwork but don’t give much thought to the legal aspects involved with the sale and/or gifting of these paintings, even though it is just as important. Our speaker graciously agreed to reschedule this presentation for January when our meeting was canceled in November. I hope to see you all there.
With the New Year upon us it is the time for those pesky resolutions again. While most of the time I avoid them, this year I’ve decided to think of them in terms of incentives for personal improvement. So rather than setting specific goals, I’m encouraging myself to eat healthier food and exercise, spend more time in nature, and to set aside more time to draw and paint. Practice and persistence makes perfect.......well maybe. I hope you take a little time to reflect on last year and how you can make this year a little better and brighter as well.
We have some brand new videos in our video library, so please bring your old ones back and check out the new ones. Also I hope you are in the process of creating your masterpieces for the Signature and Spring shows, soon to be coming your way. Welcome back and thanks to Myra Oberman, who has graciously volunteered to resume the Historian position.
I also need a few volunteers to bring water and the snacks for the January meeting, so if you are able to help, please contact me via email or phone. Thank you in advance for your assistance. Hope to see you all at the meeting in January 9th. Keep those brushes moving. Barbara Stanton, President, NVWS
