MESSAGE FAILED: THE ISSUE

In our report, of 30 young people, who had accessed CAMHS 5 felt they

knew what a psychologist was- mostly from school studies

“She didn’t explain what it was or how it was different to

CBT. She just said ‘It’s a talking therapy.’”

Young people feel psychologist/psychology sounds ‘intimidating’

Young people feel they are not listened to

Young people don’t understand the point of their treatment

Young people want more information about their treatment and worker

THE IMPACT: AGREE OR DISAGREE:

Instructions:

If you have a sticker you are a young person

Psychologist

If you agree with a statement step forwards, if

you disagree step backwards.

I’ve got an

appointment

coming up and

have no idea

what to expect

I’m going to have

to give this

stranger loads of

personal

information

Nothing else

has helped,

why will this?

No one has

even asked me

about what

treatment I

want.

Even if I don’t think

this is helping, I’m

still going to have

to do all the

sessions.
