Message from the Principal February was an incredibly short month! Where did it go? Despite, its short- comings, we have made February a positive and engaging month here at Crescent Town. Events like African Heritage celebrations, Subliminal presenter, Lunar New Year celebrations, International Mother Language assembly, field trips to the Aga Khan Museum and so much more energized the building and students in it. We continue to improve our efforts to support healthy living and a healthy planet as a Gold eco-school. As the warmer weather moves in, our efforts to clean up our environment and be active stewards will start to unfold outside the building. We have many preparations in place for a busy March, April, May and June. The last four months of the school year move quickly with many organized sports events, eco initiatives, community celebrations, and of course preparations for next year. As you can see from the outline of calendar events, March will prove to go by quickly as we have Spring Break during the week of March 14-18 th , 2016. We will be hosting an important EQAO information Night on March 23 rd in the evening from 6:00-7:00 pm. On April 13 th we will be hosting International Pink Day. This is an important day where communities across the country, and across the world, can unite in celebrating diversity and raising awareness to stop all forms of bullying. Please refer to www.dayofpink.org As well, on Saturday, April 16 th , 2016 there is an important Parents as Partners Conference. We would like to encourage as many parents from Crescent Town to participate in this great event. For more information and to register, please visit www.parentsaspartners.ca. All parents/guardians of TDSB students are welcome. Register today - space is limited! As we move into Spring and the last few months of school this year, we want to share some important dates with you: May 25-June 8 – Grade 3 Students write EQAO – Please do not book any vacations, or appointments during this time. We look forward to an exciting Spring and look forward to warmer weather for more student activities to move outdoors. It’s truly an honor to serve the students, staff and community at Crescent Town. The Polar Bear and the Siberian Tiger By Karthik

Once upon a time a polar bear lived in the cave in Russia .The polar bear got out and saw

a Siberian tiger. The Siberian tiger said, "Let's have a fight." And the polar bear said "All

right but this time I'm going to win." So the polar bear and the Siberian tiger were fighting

and fighting and fighting. But then the polar bear used its sharp teeth and scared the

Siberian tiger. How the polarbear won. So the polar bear went back to its cave and they

The Cheetah and the Mouse by Safeeullah

Once upon a time there was a big, mean cheetah and a

small mouse. They lived in a dark forest. They both

were fighting. "I am faster," said the mouse. Then the

cheetah said, "No, I am faster than you!" Then the

cheetah came up with an idea. The cheetah said, "Fine,

we are going to have a race to see who's faster." When

the race started, the cheetah was proud of himself

because he was faster. After the race started, the cheetah

ran but the mouse was falling behind. After running so

fast, the cheetah was tired so he went to sleep. When the

cheetah woke up, he saw that he lost the race. The

cheetah was humiliated. The cheetah was ashamed that

he lost the race.

Moral: Don't be proud

LEGO WeDo We had a great time in the Makerspace learning about LEGO WeDo because we

got to build such amazing robots. We were building following instructions from

the computer. We also had fun programming our robots to make cool sounds and

do cool movements. When we were creating, Ms.Dietz was helping us by showing

us how to use these neat features for our robots. Thank you Ms. Minos and

Mr.Ghuman for buying the laptops and computers so we could do amazing things

like LEGO WeDo! We hope to do more things like designing, constructions and

problem-solving. By: Adrian and Jisan Grade 4 B102

The Peregrine Falcon and the Golden Eagle By Farhan Saijd

Once a upon a time there was blue peregrine falcon. He was flying the sky. Then the blue

peregrine falcon said, "I think today is going to be a bad day." Then a golden eagle came

up to the blue peregrine falcon and attached the wing of the blue peregrine falcon. He said,

"Today is a bad day!" and the golden eagle' beak went through the blue peregrine falcon's

wing. Then the blue peregrine falcon was falling down to the ground. Then the blue

peregrine falcon said, "Why are you hurting me?" The golden eagle said, "Because you're

in my territory!" "I am sorry but can you just help me? I will not come back," said the

peregrine falcon. So the golden eagle helped and they became friends.

The Moral is:Don't hurt others
