It is important that your grant is used effectively and based on school need. The Education Inspection Framework makes clear there will be a focus on ‘whether leaders and those responsible for governors all understand their respective roles and perform these in a way that enhances the effectiveness of the school’.

Under the Quality of Education Ofsted inspectors consider: Intent - Curriculum design, coverage and appropriateness Implementation - Curriculum delivery, Teaching (pedagogy) and Assessment Impact - Attainment and progress

To assist schools with common transferable language this template has been developed to utilise the same three headings which should make your plans easily transferable between working documents.

Schools must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of Physical Education, School Sport and Physical Activity (PESSPA) they offer. This means that you should use the Primary PE and sport premium to:

• Develop or add to the PESSPA activities that your school already offer • Build capacity and capability within the school to ensure that improvements made now will benefit

pupils joining the school in future years • The Primary PE and sport premium should not be used to fund capital spend projects; the school’s

budget should fund these.

Pleasevisitgov.ukfortherevisedDfEguidanceincludingthe5keyindicatorsacrosswhichschoolsshoulddemonstrate animprovement.Thisdocumentwillhelpyoutoreviewyourprovisionandtoreportyourspend.DfEencouragesschools to use this template as an effective way of meeting the reporting requirements of the Primary PE and sport premium.

We recommend you start by reflecting on the impact of current provision and reviewing the previous spend.

Schools are required to publish details of how they spend this funding, including any under-spend from 2019/2020, as well as on the impact it has on pupils’ PE and sport participation and attainment. All funding must be spent by 31st July 2022.

We recommend regularly updating the table and publishing it on your website throughout the year. This evidences your ongoing self-evaluation of how you are using the funding to secure maximum, sustainable impact. Final copy must be posted on your website by the end of the academic year and no later than the 31st July 2021. To see an example of how to complete the table please click HERE.

LOCKDOWN To support the children that had to self-isolate or be at home throughout the lockdowns this year to be active for 60 minutes a day.

Create a simple focus of active breaks through December.

Ensure children are confident in their own abilities coming back from 2019-2020 year by encouraging skills and personal best challenges.

Provided website links, active tasks, challenges, PE lessons, video support and tasks from the Partnership to complete. They could be accessed on the school website and through the google classroom so all children could access them. Active advent tasks to be completed daily. Use of Get Set Partnership resources

Use Do Your Thing Challenges and set children/ classes differentiated tasks to complete.

£5468 Children sent in pictures, videos, diary entries showing what they had done to stay active.

All children took part in this to keep active and help with focus in the classroom. Throughout the year, assessment trackers show the progress children have made.

Parents understand what the children do in PE and how they can support them to be active at home with no equipment. Off the back of this success, we are planning for every class to create an active calendar for every month of school next year. Staff have more tools for active breaks to use within lessons and

HOUSE CAPTAINS To incorporate House Captains into house competitions and Sports Day

School Games Value Boxes to improve organisation and more physical activity as well as instil important values in the students.

Students to take part in termly House Competitions and Sports Day to aid their physical, social and mental wellbeing. These will be assisted by the use of the 8 House Captains

are split into one of 6 teams following the School Games Values of Determination, Team Work, Self-Belief, Respect, Passion and Honesty. The PE teacher has shown all the class teachers how to implement this and they want to carry this on next year. It makes organisation of teams much easier and students work in their groups. Each week there is a new Team Leader so this adds responsibility and leadership into the lessons. Students earn bean bags throughout the lesson for things they do well, answering questions, scoring goals, following one of the school games values and so on, and this has motivated the children. All of these values can then link with the School Values as the School is Values Based Education School. Although House Competitions have not taken part due to covid Sports Day did take part and the House Captains were fully involved with its promotion and organisation. This was a very successful Sports Day following the LA Covid guidelines. There was also a KS2 Olympics Day run by the Sports Partnership which was thoroughly enjoyed by the students. Staff were sent links to CPD support that they could access if they wanted. PE Lead supported teachers to plan and deliver lessons in areas of the curriculum they struggled with. PE Lead developed schemes of work and matching resources for the whole school in all areas of the curriculum for staff to use to support their development. PE Lead developed assessment sheets for staff to be able to

PE Teacher employed to further support staff in areas of the curriculum. PE leader attends regular virtual PE forums for national and local updates, share good practise and work with other schools. PE Leader has access to support and tools to lead the subject, including to prepare for an Ofsted deep dive. Teachers to be provided with PE kit to feel part of the PE department and ready to teach PE. PE Leader was able to keep staff up to date with best practise and COVID guidance.

A new PE teacher employed from Easter to work with KS2 on Invasion Games particularly ball skills linked to Bee Netball. Key Stage 1 focus to be on mixed ball skills to develop team work as well as sending and receiving skills and coordination

Subject review was completed using the Ofsted deep dive framework. As a result, we have provided support to staff and resourced the school well. We have made our progression of skills clear and can show how the skills progress from EYFS to Year 6. The school PE provision is safe and compliant with COVID.

As said in Indicator 1 the PE teacher has worked with KS2 on Bee Netball and KS1 on ball skills. Personalised / bespoke Messingham Primary School Plans were created by the PE teacher for every lesson that included progressive skills and games, teaching points and diagrams all based on AfL. The PE teacher also allowed the teacher observing/team teaching to video parts of the lesson so that they could refer to it the following year.

Action plan for 2021-2022 to support the deep dive findings. To continue Curriculum support next year with the PE teacher To trial staff using extra resources from Primary PE Planning when they do not have the PE teacher to see if this has a positive impact on their lessons

Impact - The staff have emailed the PE teacher to comment on how helpful the lessons were. The wellbeing governor met the staff individually to ask if having a PE teacher had had an impact on their subject knowledge and confidence and all staff were very positive.

As previously said the PE teacher introduced the School Games Values as a new initiative and it has proved to be really successful. Something that is now going to continue into next year in all PE lessons. The feedback from staff is that: The lessons are now more easy to organise as students are already in groups The lessons now involve more physical activity as there is less time setting up and organising. The lesson flows better. The students enjoy the positive visual reward of a bean bag and work hard to sit down ready for the next task so more active time. Rewarding positive behaviour and team work during the lesson. Less learning time is lost as a result.

Reception to have a summer block with the PE teacher Purchase 4 sets of School Games Value Boxes with bibs for next year so this can be implemented in all PE lessons. Two sets of boxes for R & KS1 and two sets of boxes for KS2
