Through OEM agreements with companies like Eaton Cutler-Hammer, Siemens, ABB, Professional Power Products Inc.provides protection of medium voltage power equipment for industrial plants and utilities. Utilizing proven and testedtechnology from these circuit breaker and switchgear component manufacturers afford the flexibility to build switchgear witha broad range of applications.

Professional Power Products offers voltage ratings from 2400V through 38kV (38KV in separate bulletin) and interruptingratings up to 63 kA. Our MV switchgear meets or exceeds ANSI/IEEE C37.20.2.

The MV switchgear utilizes the OEM modules of cell, breaker and auxiliary equipment, which can be assembled in variousconfigurations to satisfy the user requirements.

One or two-high breaker arrangements are standard up to 15 kV.

MV switchgear is an integrated assembly of draw-out vacuum circuit breakers, PT drawers, control power transformerdrawers, insulated bus and relays to electrically protect medium voltage circuits. The metal-clad features such as drawers, barriers and compartments provide greater circuit separation and safety.

    Important features include:

Mechanical interlocks are provided to maintain a proper and safe operating sequence.

All circuit breakers are equipped with self-aligning and self-coupling primary and secondary disconnectingdevices, and constructed with a mechanism for moving the breaker physically between connected anddisconnected positions.

All major primary components, such as circuit breakers, potential (or voltage) transformers, control powertransformers, and buses are completely enclosed and grounded by metal barriers. A metal barrier in frontof the circuit breaker and auxiliary drawer ensures that, when in the connected position, no live parts areexposed by opening the compartment door.

Automated metal shutters cover primary circuit live parts when the removable element is in thedisconnected, test or removed position.

All primary bus conductors and connections are insulated with an epoxy coating for the maximum ratedvoltage of that assembly.

Instruments, meters, relays, secondary control devices and their wiring are isolated, where necessary, bygrounded metal barriers from all primary circuit live parts.

    Compartments include:

    Circuit breaker compartment.

Auxiliary compartments including PT/CPT drawers, fuse drawers, battery compartment, transitions orextra instrumentation.

utilized as the core of the switchgear section. Professional Power Products builds the rear bus compartment, bus, anbarriers in accordance with Eatons OEM handbook. The power module has been type tested per ANSI C37.20.2. Aconstruction is per OEM guidelines in the handbook. Further tests have been performed on rated continuous current tesBIL impulse testing and dielectric tests on the insulation system to ensure our components maintain the original type tests.
