Meteors and Meteor Showers

By: Ethan PabonMeteors and Meteor ShowersMeteors are big/small rocks. They can be just rock, iron, or nickel, and ice. Or debris. They get stuck through our atmosphere and off they go!! They can be from a micro meter to ten meters big!! The names are Meteoroid, which is when it is up in space, then Meteor, when soaring through our nice blue sky, and finally Meteorite, when it hits a smash on the ground or ocean. The words Shooting star are actually meteors!! The friction of the atmosphere and the meteor make a trail of light like FIRE!!! A meteor shower is when a lot of meteors fall at the same time. They occur at different times of the year. Like August 10 to 17. What are Meteors?Types of Meteors

An asteroid is a type of meteor. A really big kind.Fireball is well known for its REALLY bright trail of light, aka Shooting or flying star. They are also known because they are some of the brightest meteors found in the sky.Bolides can be really scary. They explode when entering our atmosphere! I bet they make a lot of noise.Types of Meteors TypedMeteors are important becauseSome contain dust stardust and when they land scientists pick them up and take the dust to study it so they understand more about the stars out there in space. Scientist can take the chemicals in meteorites and study how old the universe is!Why are Meteors important? The biggest meteor to hit Earth might have been Theia, which hit Earth more than four billion years ago. The early days of our atmosphere. When a meteor lands, do you expect it to be hot? No! It turns out to be NOT SO HOT.The word Meteor comes from the Greek word Meteoros with a little dash on top of the first O which means high in the air. They can go up to 15 kps!!The largest Asteroid is named Ceres, and is so big it is considered a dwarf planet.

Miscellaneous The best part :)Debris (Dihbree) A bunch of junk. If you knock down a house, the left over will be debris.Micro Meter (Microe Mitur) The second smallest measurement, after Nano Meter.Friction (Frikshon) The word that means the power of two things rubbing against each other.Mini Glossary Where we learn new words :)Hope you enjoyedThanks For Watching
