Greetings in the name of our Lord!
Summer got away from us in a hurry again this year! September is here and
with it comes hectic lives that center on work, children’s activities and football,
football and more football. We are proud that we can offer a mid-week oasis
where we can enjoy table fellowship as we restart our Wednesday evening
meals and then retreat to one of several offerings of Bible study, prayer and
support for one another as we share our concerns. All this starts on September
9th. We will eat beginning at 5:30, the kids will begin their AWANA classes at 6
and adult classes will begin at 6:30. I encourage all of you to consider this time
of spiritual growth and join one of the studies listed inside this bulletin. You can
sign up on the website, by tearing of the perforated portion of your bulletin and
dropping that in the plate, or by signing up this Wednesday.
This Wednesday, September 2nd, we will have special guests for our first
Wednesday evening supper. It will be a special dinner because you are the
cooks! Our Missions Committee will provide roasted chicken tenders and are
asking for everyone to provide side dishes and desserts. Rev. Chuck Jack and
Rev. Ted Brock will visit us on that day. Chuck is the pastor of Jack’s Creek
United Methodist Church and Bowen’s Creek United Methodist Church and Ted
is pastor of Middle Fork United Methodist Church. All three churches are in the
Redbird Missionary Conference in Southeast Kentucky. These are the three
churches that our district are partnered with. Our hope is that we might develop
ways of supporting and learning from each other through prayer, preaching in
each other’s pulpits, sharing ideas for development and evangelizing the Gospel
of Jesus Christ. Ted is a unique individual and will share with us some of the old
hymns that he has learned over the years. This will be a great way for us to
show support for their ministry as well as give us an opportunity to learn how we
might benefit from the partnership. Our District Superintendent, Rev. John
Brooks and the Alabama West Florida Conference Director of Missions, Susan
Hunt will be in attendance and we will hear from them what progress is being
made. Additionally, you will have a chance to look over the material from each
of the studies that begin the following week, make a choice and obtain your book
if one is required. I hope to see you all there.
Grace & Peace

Celebrate Recovery is a biblical and balanced program that helps us overcome our hurts, hang-ups, and habits. It is based on the actual words of Jesus rather than psychological theory. Celebrate Recovery is a program designed to help those struggling with hurts, habits and hang-ups by showing them the loving power of Jesus Christ through a recovery process.
SEPT 20 – OCT 11 John Wesley boils fiscal responsibilities down to just three rules: Earn all you can. Save all you can. Give all you can. Sounds simple, right? Yes, but not easy,
especially in today’s culture of consumerism. This twenty-first century translation of Wesley’s money management philosophy will give everyone in your congregation—children and teenagers as well as adults of any age—a new way to think about money, not only during your stewardship program, but for the rest of their lives. Also available in Sunday School classes.
