METIS SURF 3D® software has been designed in order to allow easy operation of the scanner but also integrates very powerful tools such as: METIS Color Profiler software (for ICC Color Management) and the METIS Light Inspector software (to edit SuperScan files). METIS SURF 3D® and Light Inspector software are fully 64bit and have been optimized for the latest Windows 10 OS.

METIS SURF 3D® and LIGHT INSPECTOR software

METIS SURF 3D® software allows fast and easy calibration of the scanner so that scanned images are always produced with the best possible image quality and color reproduction accuracy. Furthermore, once installed and calibrated, scanner performances are extremely stable over time. The user can also customize different scanner aspects to better match specific application requirements.

The SuperScan is a sophisticated but completely automated acquisition mode, uniquely available in METIS scanners, which consist in acquiring the original several times. During the different SuperScan acquisitions, light direction and intensity are finely modulated using specific irradiation schematics. The additional information provided in the SuperScan file allow: reprocessing the light schematic (changing the light direction and intensity at any time) in order to get different visual appearances, calculating a reflectivity MAP which allows dealing with reflections and shadows in the images, extrapolating embossing information from the original surface, calculating 3D information for generating a Depth MAP that can be used for 3D printing/embossing.

- Optical Resolution: 450PPI (software scalable)- Maximum original thickness: ~5cm- Maximum scan format (without stitching): 49x32 cm- Maximum scan format (with 1x stitching): ~49x60 cm- Maximum scan format (with 2x stitching): ~49x85 cm- Integrated Camera: Canon EOS 5DS (50Mp)- Focusing: lens autofocus (software controlled) - Lighting spec: 8 independently controlled light sources- Light source Type: High CRI LEDs, IR/UV free- Capture Time (full format at 450PPI) : ~30 sec.- Capture + SaveTime (full format at 450PPI) : ~1 min.

The SURF 3D® is a new middle format scanner designed by METIS and aimed to digitize materials with texture and embossing information such as: small wood planks, leather, stones, textile, wallpapers, etc. and in particular to provide features that are not available in an ordinary scanner such as:• extended customization over the enlightening of the original (i.e. to provide a color image with a

strong 3D visual appearance)• 3D embossing data (i.e. for using in 3D printing or embossing applications)

Therefore, the SURF 3D® scanner is particularly aimed to:• Medium size digital printing applications requiring color, visual 3D and/or real 3D data (i.e.

reproduction of small fine arts, customized phone covers, restaurant menu with fancy cover, wrapping objects with special materials, creating gadgets, small productions, proofing, etc.)

• Medium size ceramic and wallpaper applications• 3D rendering applications, where the scanner can be used to capture material properties (diffuse

MAP, Bump MAP, etc.) in order to perfectly reproduce the material in CGI and CAD applications

3D emboss data (depth MAP generation) are calculated based on the information provided by the different lightings and using unique algorithms developed by METIS that allows a dense and detailed 3D reconstruction of the original surface. METIS designed a completely new scanning software around the SURF 3D® in order to provide extremely simple usage and at the same time without compromising performances and image quality. A special version of METIS Light Inspector software is also embedded in the scanning software in order to post-process the scan data provided by the SURF 3D® (i.e. for stitching, optimizing lighting and 3D)

- METIS SURF 3D® capture software: runs natively at 64bit on Windows 10 Professional 64bit - Integrate a special version of the METIS Light Inspector software - Full ICC support- Holding Table type: sliding drawer can fully extend in the front and back of the scanner to facilitate mounting the original but also for stitching purposes- Drawer size: 85x70cm * / **

* scanning area is anyway limited to 49x32cm** long originals can be fitted but will not be entirely supported

- Scanner size: 95cm width, 70cm depth, 150cm height
