A. Three Kolrosing Maura Corey Cloquet, MN

Learn the concepts to design Kolrosing and created on a traditional mangle board. Supply cost

on day of class: $15.00 - $25.00. Materials needed to purchase prior to attending workshop:

Kolrosing Knife: $27.00 at pinewoodforge.com. Additional materials students may want to

bring from home: tracing paper, graphite transfer paper, scotch tape, eraser, pencil, stylus,

clipboard, acrylic paints, paintbrush, and sandpaper. Skill – All Levels. Contact: Maura Corey

B. Relief Carving Al Gerads Rice, MN

Al will instruct relief carving starting with an intro on the art, then carve the split rock

light house, a fish, or an old building, or bring a project of your own. We’ll use

basswood with bark on the board. Project is 9” X 12” Bring sharp tools, glove, and

C. Human Caricature Russell Scott St. Paul, MN

Many human caricature rough outs to choose from. Figures range from Santas to

cowboys to female figures. Check out his website to see all the variations available

D. Chip Carving Bill Ness Sartell, MN

Chip carving. All students will start with a practice board to hone skills,

then progress to projects such as coasters, trivets, and jewelry/recipe

boxes. If you do not yet have a Chip carving knife, I have samples from

most manufacturers to try out before buying. Skill level: beginner to

advanced. Cost for materials: $5 - $25 plus additional project fees.

E. Wooden Spoons Karen Henderson St. Francis, MN

Beautiful, durable, and usable carved spoons from various aesthetic hardwoods. With

a knife and a gouge, you can create your own spoon. The wood is carved green (wet).

Skill – All Levels. Blanks $5 - $10.

F. Intaglio of a Snowman Scene Wes Spadgenske Andover, MN

This year our project will be an INTAGLIO snow scene featuring a

happy snowman. Anyone who has had a beginner class or equivalent

will have a fun time with this project. You will need a sharp bench knife

and palm tools, including a “V” tool, and whatever others you have. The

picture will be drawn on the 10 ½” disc so we can get right into carving.

The cost will be $25.00. Anyone who has taken a beginner class or has

G. Simulated Caribou Antler ‘Paddle’ Lee Olson Crystal, MN

This is a basswood blank, 12” X 8” simulating a caribou antler ‘paddle’. The

relief scene will be cut out before class. Will be texturing and painted of the

antler will make the antler look real. Details of the deer and background will

be determined by the carver. Skill – All Levels. Contact Lee Olson at:

H. Deep Relief Roger McCullough Champlin, MN

We will carve a house or store, with trees, hills in the background.

The store is carved in the style of it being I the mountains, with an old

man sleeping in a chair with legs on his bloodhound. Step-by-step

samples of this project available. Paint can be done during class. Skill

– All Levels. Cost for supplies: $25.00. Contact Roger at:

I. Basswood Eagle Bust Bob Lawrence Fargo, ND

Learn to carve a 7” X 3” X 3” eagle bust. Finishing supplies furnished. Carving

should be completed. Cost $25.00 all levels. Contact Bob Lawrence:

General Notes of Importance and Interest

Check in - Saturday, October 2nd at 8:00 am. Brief meeting at 9:00 am.

Classes - Start at 9:00 am, end at noon for lunch, resume at 1:00 pm and continues until 5:00 pm Saturday and

4:00 pm Sunday. No class changes may be made without approval of the seminar coordinator. All classes are in

the same room. Therefore, there will be no classes that have wood burning or use power tools, because of

allergies.

Class assignments - First Come, First Served basis. Earliest postmark on registration ensures getting your

choice of class. If all your choices of classes are filled, your check will be returned, and you will be notified for

cancellation. Classes are limited to 8 students per class.

Notification of class assignments will be sent out in mid-September.

Cancellation - After August 15, 2021 there will be a $20.00 charge for anyone dropping out of the seminar.

After September 15, 2021, there will be no refund. If you must cancel, please notify Tom Sheldon at

763-213-4178 or [email protected].

Courtesy - Be considerate of your instructor's time so he/she can spend equal time with each student. Horseplay

and unsafe behavior will not be tolerated. Your experience and knowledge may be interesting to the class, but

during class time please show respect to your instructor and classmates and let your instructor lead the class.

Lunches - Will be provided and are included in the seminar fee.

Lighting – If you want better lighting, bring a lamp along.

Smoking and Alcohol - Smoking is prohibited in the VFW. Alcohol is available in the Lounge. We ask that

you refrain from indulging until the carving day is over at 5:00 pm.
