In every industry but one, technology makes things better and cheaper.

3

Insurance only wants to cut my benefits.

Every day, my ability to deliver good care is

compromised by change.I have no way of knowing whether a patient is compliant or a caregiver is competent.

Everyone is out to increase our costs.

I’m afraid and overwhelmed.

“Personalized medicine” is a radically different business model.

Independent thought can’t be monitored.

We all live in a world where more expectations and fewer resources are the rule. It’s in everyone’s best interest to be affordably accountable to each other, but without a mechanism to trust each other, they don’t.

Fundamentally, we have a system that no amount of data helps

Page 4: Metronome Overview January 12, 2014

4

Each produces more and more data over time as the cost to produce it drops. The data could reveal what happens when a patient is away from a caregiver, what’s working and what isn’t, and when an early intervention could save time, money or most importantly, lives.

Tech should help – we have a lot of innovation

Data ends up just producing confusion and noise, driving us further apart.

But because there’s nothing to align the data with outcomes, there’s nothing in it but risk.

We need trust to bring the stakeholders together

1 sided data transactions have to become two-sided to get cooperation. Only by increasing trust and accountability between all stakeholders can risk be reduced to bring health costs and outcomes back together

That other stakeholders can issue queries on.

Payers and providers can ask questions that help them deliver better care and lower risk.

Is the patient taking their medication as prescribed?

Can we have access to user’s raw data?

Does a caregiver get better results than her peers?

Is the patient getting the expected results from a caregiver’s intervention?

Only receiving an answer when the user agrees to provide it.

Via Metronome rules and simple language agreements, providers, payers, insurers and others can get authenticated answers to their questions via encrypted communication, providing the request benefits the user.

Metronome will prove its humble value on a highly visible stage.

We aren’t going to fix healthcare all at once, but via the Qualcomm Tricorder X PRIZE’s incentives and structure, we can provide a trusted data interchange to the best, brightest, up-and-coming talent in digital health and health transformation very efficiently.

Our first step is to use crowdfunding to build a broad coalition of stakeholders and get a “minimally viable product” into the hands of potential users, entrepreneurs, caregivers, insurers and influencers. Why will they do this? Because they want first access to the tools, insights and benefits of a system like Metronome, and we’ll give it to them for free while letting them guide it’s future.

First, we start serving customers – using the QTXP to narrow the field and feature set

We rapidly iterate, each product cycle being better, plus having it in the hands

Meanwhile, we’ll raise additional development resources from people that can start to see that we aren’t a competitor but we are taking problems off their plate while giving them new capabilities.

Phase 3 – broader in-market iterations starting in 2015

Finally, all the code, IP and insights created and gathered will be turned over to a governing independent non-profit. This non-profit will producize it, manage testing it, release it and maintain it under a simple and low cost open source license. It will let all the other stakeholders focus on what they do best, by making trust non-threatening.
