Established by an Act of Government of Rajasthan and recognised by UGC, Government of India, Mewar University has the objective of providing higher education to all those who aspire for it.
The University is committed to excel in teaching, training, capacity-building, scholarship, research and public service. The Mewar University values the appropriate use of Information and Communication Technologies and supports quality teaching and learning., Audio and video programmes, interactive counselling sessions, periodic assignments and project work constitute the teaching-learning methodology. Recognition and Approvals
Mewar University is an autonomous body promulgated by the Government of Rajasthan through Act. No. 4 of 2009, passed by Rajasthan Assembly. The University is further approved by the UGC u/s 2(f) of the UGC Act 1956, with the right to confer degree u/s 22(1) of the UGC Act
Brief History:
Mewar University is promoted by Mewar Education Society (MES). It is controlled by a Board of Management, constituted by MES, which is headed by Chairperson Shri Ashok Kumar Gadiya, a great visionary, educationist, nationalist figure,who translated his ideas and dreams of promoting higher education into reality by setting up institutes of learning in various subjects, carving a niche as an educationist and aiding inculcation of values in the young generation.

The University campus is situated in the vicinity of the scenic Aravali ranges and spread over sprawling 30 acres at Gangrar of Chittorgarh District (Rajasthan), just 18 km away from the city of Chittorgarh. The campus can be easily approached by road and railway network as it is situated on NH 79 (Delhi-Mumbai Highway) and connected with all the major cities through broad-gauge railway tracks and roads. The nearest airport is Dabhok (Udaipur), which is 100 km away from the campus and is well connected with major cities through regular flights.
Mewar University has the unique distinction of being the only University in the District of Chittorgarh (Rajasthan). The University is established to benefit students from every nook and corner of India and other countries. The University fills up the void in the field of higher, technical and vocational education in the Mewar region which, in spite of being rich in terms of agriculture, industrial and business growth, has lagged behind in education as compared to the neighboring districts like Udaipur, Ajmer and Jaipur.
The campus is divided into various functional zones like Academic and Administrative Block, Hostels and Residential complex for faculty and staff. Seminars & Workshops
The University conducts seminars and conferences on relevant technical and current topics of interest. It has also programmed exchange of visits with other institutes regularly.
Inter-class seminars on topics relevant to course curriculum as well as for the enhancement of personality are frequently organised. A calendar of such activities is scheduled for each semester. The workshops and seminars develop healthy practice of competition, active participation, learning through sharing, discussion and presentations. These forums help to build self confidence and power to express oneself freely while opening the opportunity to develop in depth knowledge on different topics and subjects. Students are motivated to participate in technofest and project work.
Student Counselling
Counselling on various academic and non-academic matters is made available to the students. These include emotional, psychological, pedagogic and cultural issues.
Apart from a dedicated Student Counselling Centre, which is open on all working days during study hours to assist students, the students are divided into groups of modest size and each such group is assigned to a faculty member, who acts as a counsellor and remains responsible for the group throughout the year. The students are free to contact the Counsellors any time for resolving their problems. The Counsellor acts as a Friend, Philosopher and Guide for the students.
The Counsellors provide all required support to students, particularly in terms of learning, enhancement skills, personal and career counselling. Mewar University believes in making the student as comfortable as possible and virtually adopts the student for the whole tenure of academic programme. Full fleged student welfare officer is available 24 hours in the campus to solve the problem of the students instantaneously.
The University is also planning to develop a cell that would not only track slow learners but would also help them out in various ways so that they could keep pace with other students.
Corporate Consultancy
Mewar University plans to launch its Corporate Consultancy and Management Development Programme after careful planning and extensive research. Management to us means substitution of thought for brawn and brain, of knowledge for belief and superstition, and of cooperation for force. In a short span, Mewar University has started contributing effectively to the development of Indian Business, by providing specialist knowledge in areas of strategic planning, decision-making and bench marking.
Apart from organising open management development programmes, the University is committed to develop a chain of multi-functional and multi-sectoral programmes for the corporate world, Government departments and NGOs.

Students gain hands-on experience in the application of concept and skills. At the same time this works out to be beneficial to industries in choosing suitable candidates as prospective employees.
The University actively pursues collaborative ventures with leading foreign Universities to assimilate new developments in academics and create better avenues for students. The University makes sustained efforts to arrange student exchange programmes with domestic and foreign Universities so as to empower the students with the best possible exposure to education process in leading institutions. Last year the university has signed the MOU with AIS ST HELENS University, Newzeland for the purpose and others are in pipeline.
Training & Placement Cell
Placements are sine-qua-non for imparting professional expertise to students. Mewar University boasts of a student driven placement cell that helps to build a positive mindset and direction. The active and self motivated cell is backed by support from dedicated placement coordinators. There are Business Development officers to train the students and act as emissaries to these Bluechip companies. The training & placement cell is equipped with a computerised environment and has a dedicated telephone line & round-the-clock networking. The placement cell is inviting companies for campus interviews, sending students for industrial visit and summer training to various companies.
Personality Development Programme
This value added programme attached to main curriculum equips the students with skills that help them in sailing through their main curriculum and in their professional life thereafter. The PD programme helps the students to learn a whole gamut of techniques in order to face professionals and corporate world with added confidence. It also inculcates in them professionalism, work place discipline, personal habits, effective communication, etiquette to deal with officials besides creating self confidence.
English Language has always been given an extra edge to the Indian students in the international market and even domestic market. In this respect, adequate emphasis have been placed on learning English all through the course of study that provide extra opportunity to all the students to improve their ability to read, speak, write and understand the language effectively. One paper of general awareness & PDP and a paper of English has been included in regular curricula.
Co-Curricular Activities & Tours
Knowledge stored in the brain and not expressed either through speech or through writing is futile. So there are many co-curricular programmes being held every weekend by different departments of the University to expose the hidden talents of students. There are music, art, dance, drama, debate, presentation, essay writing competitions and group discussion at intra departmental and inter-institution levels with a view to ensuring complete participation of students.

In order to release the pent up stress and strain, periodic visits are planned by different departments of the University for according an opportunity to the students to enjoy nature and culture of this incredible nation so as to get rejuvenated. It helps them to learn communication, leadership, crisis management and team building in a very conducive and challenging environment.
Feed-back System
The educational programmes in the University follow latest methods of 3600 feed-back to keep enriching the course content, teaching methodology and the academic environment. While the students are continuously assessed for their performance, they also play a role in assessing the teachers and staff. The feed-backs are seriously analysed to introduce systemic improvement through counseling and other proactive actions.
Examination System The University has opted for ultra modern standards and semester system for conducting examinations so as to make education stress free. Grading-based evaluation and modern methodology of assessing performance are further steps to follow new standards in education. The system is being continuously upgrade to keep pace with the development taking shape in various other institution of learning to enable Mewar University to introduce a practically oriented examination system which is student friendly but at the same time able to assess one’s potential in a very impartial manner.
Scholarships and Incentives
The University provides scholarships to deserving and meritorious students enrolling for Under-graduate programmes. The criteria of entitlement for scholarship is as follows:
MU Scholarships: 75% tuition fee exemption to students securing 90% & above in (10+2). The same criteria is applicable for subsequent examinations on yearly basis Meritorious student Scholarships: 25% of tuition fee exemption to students securing 85% & above in (10+2)
A chair would be instituted in each faculty. The topper of each faculty is reimbursed tution fees for one full year by the respective chair. The first such chair has been instituted in the faculty of Engineering & Technology in the name of Shri Nand Lal Gadiya, respected father of the Chairperson.
Extra-Curricular Excellence Scholarships: One student from each faculty, adjudged for excellence in extra-curricular activities like sports, oratory, presentation, cultural activity etc. will be reimbursed 50% of the tuition fee.

The University has a well-stocked, air-conditioned and fully computerized library, which serves as a catalyst in the learning process.
To ignite the intellectual spirit in young minds, a stock of about 50,000 latest books, large collection of video/audio CDs, industry and company information sources are made available to the students.
The University has course-wise departmental libraries and a central library to provide adequate support for complete academic pursuit. Additionally a separate reference section for university recommended books for each course has also been provided.
Kept open and accessible 12 hours a day, the library includes a separate display section announcing new arrivals.The unique feature of the Mewar University library is its Electronic Media Library Division. It grants access to Indian and Global database related to programmes and training materials, which are also made available in CD-ROMs. Major features of the library include:

Laboratories
The campus has well equipped laboratories that have been aesthetically designed and arranged with modern equipment and infrastructure to completely cover the syllabus of each branch of study. The labs include Physics Lab., Chemistry Lab., Electrical Lab., Electronics Lab., Mechanical Lab., Communication Lab., Workshop, Computer Lab., Graphics Lab., Language Lab. etc. In all these labs, hands-on training is imparted to the students to keep pace with modern technology. The University possesses well-qualified and experienced technical staff with all resources to develop the technical skills of the students in all fields.
The campus has an array of computers distributed over different sections of academic block. The air-conditioned computer labs with pleasing ambience is spread over 850 square meters. The Computer center has high-end servers to cater to the needs of the networked environment.

Hostels
In order to provide accommodation to students coming from far off places, the University provides separate air-cooled hostel facilities for boys and girls within the campus. The hostels maintain high quality of living with round-the-clock basic facilities like water, electricity, food, laundry, entertainment, medical facility, telephone connectivity, security etc. The campus hostel is surrounded by lush green lawns and play grounds.
The hostels have a total capacity to accommodate around 800 students. Each hostel is divided into separate wings with a separate common room. Each of the hostels is managed and looked after by a dedicated warden.
The hostels provide several sports facilities for its inmates, which include badminton, basketball, volleyball, cricket and indoor games such as table tennis, carom and chess. In order to ensure physical as well as spiritual fitness for its future professionals, the hostellers are provided with a gymnasium. Besides, yoga and meditation classes are held on a daily basis.
To improve the learning process the management has provided extended access to the library and computer centre, with all the essential software loaded as per the curriculum. The University also takes due care to protect the religious, cultural and social beliefs of the students. Each festival is celebrated with full fervor and enthusiasm.
Transport
The University owns its own transport fleet and ensures satisfactory transport services between city and campus, with plying of vehicles at reasonable intervals. The University is likely to start transport services to nearby towns based on a survey of the requirement of staff, students and faculty. Transport facility is arranged by the University for training, industrial visits, academic and co-curricular activities.
Canteen & Amenity Centre
The University has a modern canteen functioning in the campus, which can conveniently accommodate a good number of students at a time. The canteen is provided with modern furniture and automatic cooking system and storage facilities, which provides hot lunch, dinner, snacks and beverages both to the students and staff at reasonable rates.
The Amenity Centre is a mini market place within the campus. It has a cafeteria, stationary shop, laundry, hair dresser, public STD booth, a transport facilitation counter, courier kiosks etc. The Amenity Centre serves all the basic and daily needs of the students and staff within the Campus precincts. ATM facility is available in the campus.
Sports, Gym, Yoga, Meditation
Adequate facilities for indoor and outdoor games, such as basketball, badminton, football, cricket, volleyball, table tennis have been arranged within the University campus for the

students. The University supports and encourages students to participate in district, state and national level competitions in sports and extra-curricular activities.
Peace is a virtue, a state of mind, a disposition for benevolence, confidence, courage, justice, and practice. Peace lies in a pure state of mind and sound physical health. These can only be attained through physical exercise, yoga and meditation. In order to inculcate these habits the University has developed a Gymnasium and Yoga Centre for the physical and spiritual benefit of the students.
Culture & Heritage Center
The University puts special emphasis on building awareness among students about the Indian culture, heritage and the heroic deeds and sacrifices of those who made our country great. A separate gallery, dedicated to these great souls and displaying their portraits, sayings and writings, has been set up. Frequent lectures, seminars, essay competitions, role plays, anniversaries and festivals are organised to pay homage to these towering personalities. Continuous efforts are made to inspire the students with their ideals and inculcate the values espoused by them.
Health & Medical Facility
Health care is recognised as a basic requirement to support any kind of human activity. Mewar University pays unstinted attention to medical fitness of its students. Medical consultation is available 24X7 in the campus. Qualified doctor is in attendance to take care of all health related requirements besides attending to emergencies.
The University plans to start a medical centre in the campus that, apart from providing medical services to its students in-house, would also render community services by extending treatment and supplying medicines to residents of nearby villages. The proposed medical centre will have qualified nurse and regular qualified doctors (Male/Female) for consultation besides a Physiotherapy Centre. A mdical van is available 24x7 in the campus so that in any emergency situation student can be taken to the nearest hospital.
Guest House
The University has provision of a Guest House facility to accommodate visiting faculties, officials. The guest house has sufficient rooms with all modern amenities to provide required comfort to the guests accommodated for a short stay in the campus.
Training Centre for faculties & officials
A training centre with the requisite gadgets and equipment facilitates continuous up-gradation of knowledge of faculties and officials. It is designed to keep the teaching staff up-to-date with new developments in different subjects and teaching methodology. Conduct Rules• Students are required to be in proper uniform in the University and are to strictly follow
dress code.
• Student must ensure 75% attendance in classes and practicals. Attendance is also compulsory in sessionals, preliminary exams and the functions organised by the University.
• Proper discipline and decorum should be maintained in the University premises. Students are not allowed to sit in the corridors and staircases.
• The University will take action as per its rules / manual with respect to issues related to all academic and non-academic activities in the University campus, either on its own or on the basis of representation made by the faculty and students concerned.
• Strict action will be taken against students for any kind of misconduct with any of the staff and faculty members.
• Outsiders are not allowed to enter the University premises without permission.
• Damage to University’s property is a punishable offence. Such acts may invite serious disciplinary action, fines and even expulsion.
• Students should not enter the faculty room without permission from the teacher or HOD concerned.
• Mobile phones are strictly prohibited in classrooms, labs and the library.
• Tobacco products (like Cigarettes, Pan Masala, Gutka, etc.) and all kinds of intoxicants are strictly prohibited in and around the University campus.
• Candidates should refer to the notice board and website of the University for all relevant information. The University is not bound to provide information to the candidates individually.
• Each candidate must carry his/her identity card all the time to avoid any inconvenience in the University campus and outside as well.
• Anti-social activities such as strikes, dharnas, quarreling, shouting etc. are not allowed inside and outside the campus. Strict action will be taken against students in the event of being found guilty of anti-social activities, indecent comments, harassment, eve-teasing etc.
• Ragging is strictly prohibited in University campus (As per the directions issued by the Hon’ble Supreme Court).
• Students must strictly follow the respective rules and regulation of library, laboratory, medical centre, sports, gym and yoga sections etc.
• Students shall be bound by all rules and regulations framed by the University from time to time.
• Each student is expected to take care of his/her belongings and is advised not to wear/carry expensive jewelry, watches, electronic gadgets, ornaments etc.
• The University reserves the rights to alter and add to the existing rules and regulations as and when necessary without any prior notice.
