UDOT is currently engaged in a $3,000,000 repair and life extension project on this arch bridge, built in 1957. The Electrochemical Fatigue Sensor-based FatigueWatch system is being used to determine the presence of growing cracks at selected locations on the north and south bound lanes of the structure. A total of 10 FatigueWatch sensors (5 pairs) were installed on the structure at 5 crack locations. Without power and adequate 4G cell service at this location, the project posed many challenges, which were easily overcome by the MFS team. The team installed 3x190W (570W) solar panels to provide power to the two FatigueWatch PDL controllers as well as the PCN Communications node. The team utilized a cell booster and a directional Yagi antenna Overall Conclusions & Findings The field installation of the EFS FatigueWatch System was a success. It is collecting & streaming data and is currently being monitored at our St George, Utah facility with no interruption. Early indications matched well with expected results. Active cracking was observed by the system. Further analysis and evaluation of longer-term data is currently occurring.
