    Lesson Title: Character Counts Education

    Goal Introduce and discuss implementation of Character Counts program at FCE.

    Teacher: Mr. Shumway

    Teachers will analyze

    character traits and

    identify those with the

    greatest need for focus

    at our school. Introduce

    teachers to the

    resources available for

    Character Education.

    I will use a Prezi with

    video clips to show a

    brief overview of

    each of the six pillars

    of character.

    Procedure

    During the presentation I will pause after each clip to select individuals from eachgrade level to reveal the character trait depicted. Chocolate will be given to the

    grade level as a thank you for participation. I will then briefly review some of the

    descriptors for that pillar using the Prezi. After the Prezi, teachers will choose a

    pillar to promote at our school and collaborate on various classroom and school wide

    activities that can be conducted to promote this pillar. Each grade level will

    present their work and the posters will be converted to slides using PowerPoint to

    be used later and distributed to teachers.

    Product/AssessmentThe initial product produced will be the collaborative posters and the PowerPoint

    slides that will be used throughout the year. The end product will be a series ofskits that will be performed each Freedom Friday. Skits can be a song, a

    performance, or a multi-media presentation that can be broadcast on Freedom TV

    during the colder months when we experience inclement weather.
