Attention 4-H Clubs: We need your help! We would like to put together a PowerPoint presentation to show at the 4-H Volunteer Banquet this year featuring all of our clubs and the wonderful activities that you do. In order to do this, we need you to send us your photos. Please send your photos to Demetria at [email protected] or Melissa at [email protected] with the subject “Club Activity Photos” by October 1st.

Ten Year and Final Year Award forms were mailed to individuals in mid June. If you did not receive a form and feel you qualify for one of these awards, please con-tact the Extension Office. County Award forms were in-cluded in the last newsletter. Please consider nominat-ing a young person, 14 years old or older (as of Jan. 1), for one of these honors. Remember they do not have to be a blue ribbon winner, but a blue ribbon kid to qualify.

We would like our 4-H families to once again join us in saving pull tabs for our county community service activity. Aluminum pull tabs can be found on various beverages, soup, pet food, and other canned items. Please begin saving your tabs today and turn them in at the Miami County 4-H Barbecue on Saturday, July 15th. The tabs will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Graduation

Wednesday, August 16

Duke Lundgard Building

The Cloverbud 4-H “Show-N-Tell” pro-gram is a non-competitive demonstra-tion activity. Members share or ‘show and tell’ what they learned during the year in a 2-3 minute talk with an ‘interviewer.’ Cloverbuds may use a scrapbook, photo album, poster, or activity from the Cloverbud curriculum as part of their demonstration. Youth may participate as individuals or in teams. Cloverbud “Show-N-Tell” teams may consist of 2-4 members. (Team members must talk about the same topic.)

Participants must complete the *pre-registration form in this newsletter and return it by Tuesday, August 1st. Topics are to be related only to infor-mation learned during Cloverbud Ac-

tivities.

Cloverbud Graduation will take place immediately following Cloverbud “Show-N-Tell.”

Cloverbud Fair

Booth Set Up

August 9, 2017

Exhibits for the Cloverbud Booth may be dropped off Wednesday, August 9th from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm in the Duke Lundgard Building.

Members may display projects or post-ers of 4-H Cloverbud activities (camp, meetings, community service, etc.). All items must be accompanied by 5” x 7” cards listing members’ names and clubs.

Due to limited space, Cloverbud groups may submit a full size club

poster, individual projects, or half size individual posters.

Fair Pass Information

For 4-H advisors and 4-H club members 9 years and older (Fair rules state 8 year olds are admitted free, therefore your 8 year old 4-Hers will not be receiving a fair pass.), fair passes will be handed out the week of July 31st – cost for fair passes will be $15.00 for advisors; $2.00 for 4-H members (picked up by one Advisor or designated adult repre-

sentative per Club). Qualifying for a reduced rate fair pass is directly related to participation in the 4-H Barbecue.

The 4-H Barbecue is the primary fund raiser of the Miami County 4-H Program. Proceeds from the annual Miami County 4-H Barbecue combined with 4-H member assessment fees fund: the purchase of project ribbons, rosettes, trophies, county medals, final year member awards and plaques, part of the Miami County Volunteer Banquet awards and decora-tions, older youth trips (i.e. Sea Camp), volunteer education (i.e. State Volunteer Conference attendees), 4-H promotion-al activities, Cloverbud and Jr. Camp camper scholarships, Cloverbud activities, School program materials, scholarships, club auditing, Food and Fashion Board activities, Project Pride Day drapes and judges’ meals, and 4-H newsletter post-age.

All clubs are required to participate in this annual event. Reduced-rate fair passes will be distributed only to those clubs that participate in (based upon BBQ tickets sold) the 4-H Barbeque on July 15th and for all that are in good standing with their club/organization. The Organizational Advisor (or a designee of the Organizational Advisor) is responsible for pick-ing up the passes for the whole club at the Fairgrounds and distributing them to club members and advisors. Replace-ments must be purchased - so be careful with those passes!

Note: Any volunteers or members added after club enrollment deadline (the last Friday in March) are not eligible for dis-counted passes.
