The Pacific2Nations Gathering at the Vodafone Event Centre is just Phase 1. Phase 2 involves some

mission training which includes the Kairos Course at various local churches. About six to ten churches have already been selected, most of them in the Auckland area, starting the week of 11 February ‘14.

Phase 3 includes Short Term Outreach Opportunities. Some of the STO Opps that we know of (in this context, less than one month & a focus on unreached) are listed below. We will be making a list available to those who come to the Pacific2Missions Gathering. If you know of STO Opportunities available in the next year or so, please let P2N know. Pioneers, SIM, GC3, and others have tailor-made Outreach Opps. More STM Opps will be listed as we are informed. The list omits sensitive information, so it’s important to contact the church/org directly to find out more.

Remember, the vast majority of long-term missionaries in the world today started out on a short-term outreach.

George Whitefield was pre-eminently a man of prayer; he loved the prayer meeting. It was his heart’s

delight. He often spent whole nights in prayer. Although his success was largely attributed to his great powers of eloquence, it was perhaps more because of his time spent in prayer and his attending prayer meetings.

Where was he when his heart became so full that he had to break over and lay aside the Prayer Book, and rush to the throne of grace, and pray as “the Spirit gave him utterance”? He was at the all-night prayer meeting in Red Cross Street, London.

Where were he, the Wesleys, and the others “when the power of God came so mightily upon them that many fell to the ground and cried out for exceeding joy”? They were at a prayer meeting and love feast at Fetter Lane, London, “where they had spent the whole of New Year’s Eve in close prayer, praise, and thanksgiving.” Whitefield said this “was the happiest New Year’s Day he ever saw.” Praying and preaching, he went on “from strength to strength,” until he made the bold strike at Kingswood, and achieved the glorious victory of field-preaching at “Rose Green.”

Where was John Livingstone just before he preached that memorable sermon at the Shotts, in Scotland, which resulted in the converson of five hundred souls? He had spent the whole of the previous night in a prayer meeting.

Where was the apostle Peter before he preached that most powerful sermon on the Day of Pentecost, which made the very murderers of Jesus cry for mercy, and which resulted in the conversion of three thousand souls in a day? He had just come out of a ten-day prayer meeting. If you want to get power to win souls, pray much and linger long in the prayer meeting. Frank Bartleman (1871-1936) The Revival Study Bible - © 2010, page 1371

Frank Bartleman - author, revival eyewitness, historian. Best known for his account of the historic revival in Azusa Street, Los Angeles. He wrote Evan Roberts in Wales for advice on how to spark a move of God in the “City of Angels” that would echo the Great Welsh Revival of 1904-5. Roberts wrote back, “Congregate the people who are willing to make a total surrender. Pray and wait. Believe God’s promises. Hold daily meetings.” June 15, 1906 at 312 Azusa Street, the Spirit of God dropped as a “heavenly chorus”... that led to missions ministries all over the world.

Mana from PrayerMark 6:46-48 - After Jesus fed the five thousand, He departed to the mountain to pray...

Now about the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea..

MER (Missionary Enrichment Retreat) FeedbackThe MER was very helpful to us. Being in the company of people who understand and know what we’re going through. Good balance of ministry, learning, relaxing and prayer.

The information given was practical and relevant to my sitiation. And the schedule gave time to process that information. Well done!

It was great to be able to unload in a non-threatening way. Everything was just right.

Very peaceful and quiet. Just right. Good accommodation. Good times to rest and reflect. The materials were very relevant for us.

A fantastic week and well worth the time spent. It is very encourging to share with fellow missionaries who walk a similar journey and understand the issues we face.

Loved it. This should be a requirement for anyone on furlough or rturning from overseas service.

Thank you so much for such a beneficial retreat. Your loving and warm hospitality... God bless you all.

It was special that a staff member was prepared to take LOTS of time to listen to my story and input as a caring friend.
