In response to lifestyle changes and global posting trends, singPost is moving into a 5-day mail collection and delivery service. From 15 May 2010, mail items posted on Friday before mail collection times will reach the recipients on the following Monday.

Mr woo Keng leong, singPost’s executive Vice President (Mail) said: “with public mail volume on a decline and many companies operating on a 5-day week, there is a need for us to streamline our operations to stay competitive. we are heartened that our union supports our initiative as they recognise that it will lead to increased productivity and better work life harmony for our postal workers.”

An independent survey also revealed that over 90% of survey respondents found it acceptable to receive or have their mail items delivered on the following Monday.

you can continue to collect or send your mail items at any 62 post offices on saturdays. to provide added convenience, the mail collection

timings on Fridays will be extended by an hour to 8pm within the Central business District (CbD) and 6pm outside the CbD. the daily operating hours of singPost’s bulk Mail Centre will also be extended by an hour.

you can be assured that the quality of service standard will be maintained, that is, 99% of mail posted within the CbD and 98% posted outside the CbD will be delivered by the next working day.

Ms Cindy Aw, a franked mail customer, said: “the implementation has no adverse impact on us. Instead, we have the benefit of stretching our posting on Friday to a later time, and can enjoy the postage savings through the rebates.”

For a period of one year starting from 1 June 2010, franked mail customers will enjoy up to 5% in rebates. singPost is also offering customers buying stamp booklets or stamp sheets s$0.15 off the usual rate of s$2.55 from 15 May 2010 (limited to 5.5 million 1st local stamp booklets/stamp sheets).

customer appreciation

since 2007, singPost has been hosting the annual Chinese new year luncheon for their corporate customers in appreciation of their support. this year, customers enjoyed lunch at the former Clifford Pier, an iconic landmark that has been transformed from a historic pier into a chic waterfront restaurant.

even the food was fusion inspired, blending something familiar with something new to give a fresh taste, much like singPost which has been transforming itself in many ways, injecting new experiences into a traditional business to meet the changing needs of customers and to serve them better.

Mr ng Hin lee, singPost’s Covering group Ceo said: “while we are constantly reinventing ourselves, one thing remains unchanged – we continue to build on the foundation of trust and reliability, and infuse innovation and productivity to help our partners grow and make this year of the tiger a roaring success!”
