Projects and Inventions

Remote Auto Starter – I implemented a remote car starter that would remotely start a car from anywhere. It was not like a traditional remote car starter in the sense it had an Iphone application or a remote dial in number in conjunction with a key sequence that needed to be entered on the remote in order to start the car. Buick then came out with the same concept and I ceased all R&D on this concept. This implementation consisted of an app, remote and was implemented using the GSM cellular network so that proximity to the automobile was not a factor. Further it was comprised of a touch tone decoder and tied into the remote starter for the specific automobile it was to start.

Remote Garage Door Opener – I designed and implemented a remote garage door opener over the Internet for home automation purposes. This implementation worked via smtp mail and would operate a garage door based on a security code and instruction entered into the body or subject line of an email. There was the ability to easily incorporate this into a smart phone application either IPhone or Android. Brinks then came out with the same concept and all R&D and refinement ceased. My application was wireless within the home and interfaced to a PC or laptop computer via USB. It had the ability to open or close the garage door partially or fully either permanently or for a set period of time.

Siri Home Automation – I implemented an interface to home automation which had the ability to control home devices with speech spoken to Siri. It had the ability to control a thermostat, turn lights on or off, unlock or lock the doors and transmit IP camera images to the smart device. It was implemented using the Internet and a PPTP or IPSec connection to the destination from the smart device. It consisted of a Siri Proxy server, Siri plug-ins and Insteon home controllers for appliances, lighting and garage door.

Alarm Clock for hearing impaired– This alarm clock worked as a traditional alarm waking device with the exception that it had actual physical contact with the person at rest. When the alarm was triggered it would send a small electrical pulse to the person at rest stimulating them to wake up. It was a harmless stimulation and did not interfere with pacemakers or biomedical devices worn by the user. A small band was connected to the ankle or wrist of the person for the physical interaction. This entire device worked wirelessly and there were no cords or interfaces to interfere with the user.
