Community Improvement Grants Available to 4-H & FFA Youth

Developing a thriving rural Missouri is important to FCS Financial. The Shaping Rural Missouri grant

program offers Missouri 4-H and FFA organizations $500 grants to implement projects that will benefit

their rural communities and youth development.

“Providing opportunities for rural community development is important to FCS Financial because our

employees and customers live in these same areas,” said Scott Gardner, Vice President, Sales & Mar-

keting. “These grants not only strengthen our rural communities but allow our youth to work as a team

to accomplish a goal.”

Funds are awarded to assist club or chapter members in bringing positive change by establishing pro-

jects that make their local communities better places to live. FCS Financial encourages applicants to

collaborate with other community organizations to develop and complete their improvement project.

Last year, FCS Financial funded 38 projects across Missouri. Projects improved local communities by

building picnic tables, planting trees and landscaping school grounds.

Applications are due April 1, 2016. An application and more information on the Shaping Rural Missouri grant program can be found at www.myfcsfinancial.com under the How We’re Different tab or by calling 1-800-369-3276 ext. 1173.

FCS Financial serves 102 counties through 21 offices in Missouri. FCS Financial is a member of the Farm Credit System. The system is a nationwide network of cooperative lending institutions that pro-vides credit and financial services to farmers, ranchers, rural residents and agribusinesses. With 100 years of agricultural lending experience, the Farm Credit System is the largest single provider of agricultural credit in the United States.

2016 4-H DAY WITH THE CARDINALS

Saturday, May 21, 2016 Ticket Orders Must be Postmarked by April 11, 2016!

4-H members, alumni, families and their friends are invited to join us for 4-H Day with the National League Central Champion St. Louis Cardinals, Saturday, May 21. The Cardinals will be playing the Arizona Diamondbacks in a 1:15 p.m. game in Busch Stadium. Prior to the game, 4-H members and their parents/leaders can take part in a parade around the ball field—that’s right, participants will actually get to go down on the field and march one time around the stadium behind their state or county 4-H banner. Also, everyone who orders a ticket on this form will receive a specially designed t-shirt featuring the 4-H and Cardinals logos to commemorate the day. Note: Groups of families or county groups that wish to sit together must send their orders in one package. Tickets usually sell out, so order early. Mark your calendars now! For more information contact the Putnam County Extension Office.

Just a heads up – because of TV contracts, the game time for 4-H Day With The Cardinals on May 21 has been changed to 3:15 p.m. Updated information should be on the website soon.

Making Kazoos What you need: Empty toilet paper rolls Rubber bands Wax paper Markers Gummed stars What you do: Show the children how to assemble their own kazoos by folding the wax paper several times so that it covers the end of the paper roll. Rubber band it in place. Encourage the children to decorate their kazoos with the markers and stars. Test the kazoos. Place the end of the roll lightly to your mouth and sing or hum. The vibration of the layers of wax paper should make your kazoos sound great!
