Ideal tubing extrusion conditions are satisfied when the proportions of die opening and hot insulation cross section are identical.
In that case the DRB is equal to 1

In the practice, tooling is often dimensioned according to the cold insu-lation overall diameter.
In order to compensate the error induced by the difference between hot and old diameter, the DRB value has to be slightly increased.
Example:
Core Ø 1 mm
Cold insulation Ø 2 mm
Hot insulation Ø 2.197 mm
Tip Ø 8.85 mm
Die Ø 19.45 mm
DRBcold is not randomly selected but calculated, it depends directly on the difference between hot and cold diameter i.e. on the shrinkage along the cooling trough.
