The signage also shows personalized recommendations for restaurants and recreations that are based on Joanne’s preferences.
Operational Perspective. Joanne’s preferences are accessed through property-level customer relationship management (CRM) systems, allowing employees to anticipate her requests. Her preferences are verified and updated at check-in through the PMS system, which then triggers the systems and notifies the people that customize and enhance Joanne’s guest experience. Integration of the Contoso Hotel’s sales and catering system allows the dynamic digital signage to present Joanne with personalized content, based both on the group she’s come with and her own previously captured preference data.

Leveraging Business Intelligence (BI) and her managed preferences, Joanne’s in-room environment is tailored to her specific needs: the music is soft jazz, the drapes are drawn, the lighting is dimmed and the temperature is a perfect 72 degrees from the moment she sets foot in the door. During her stay, Joanne manages the in-room environment through a single device. From digital entertainment to on-and off-property services, Joanne leverages the same device, and one integrated system, to address all her needs.
Operational Perspective. Gathering and analyzing Joanne’s past transactions, the preferences she’s identified and the group she’s with on property, Contoso Hotel can customize and personalize her experience because of Business Intelligence and Integration. Whether the in-room device is running Windows Vista™ Media Center or Windows® XP Embedded in the flat panel TV, the experience she has is both integrated and intelligent, leveraging real-time information through the Information Hub from all the different systems within the Contoso Hotel property.
Back Office and Above Property SolutionsOperational Perspective. Solutions in this area are usually “invisible” to guests like Joanne, but they can have a direct impact on her experience. By accessing and acting on information captured in key hospitality systems such as PMS, POS and CRM, employees are able to anticipate Joanne’s needs and create a truly personalized experience for her. The data is pulled through the Information Hub and is showcased in an easy-to-view composite UI framework. Critical ERP and BI data is captured and served to management in real time, allowing for fast tracking of key performance indicators and rapid decision making. Employees can act in real time to meet service requests, update preferences and communicate with fellow employees, using either Contoso Hotel equipment or their own mobile devices. All of the Business Intelligence can be viewed and manipulated in the format that is requested most often, Microsoft Office Excel®.
Information Hub: Simplifying Systems Integration. Common Area SolutionsGuest Perspective. Join Joanne Malone as she checks in using her own mobile device, allowing her to bypass the front desk and simply pick up her room key when she arrives. While Joanne is at the hotel—or even before arrival—she has the option to use that same mobile device to book a spa appointment or place a room service order, so that it’s ready when she gets to the Contoso Hotel. As Joanne walks to her room she sees the schedule for the conference she’s attending displayed on the hotel’s dynamic digital signage. The signage also shows personalized recommendations for restaurants and recreations that are based on Joanne’s preferences.
Operational Perspective. Joanne’s preferences are accessed through property-level customer relationship management (CRM) systems, allowing employees to anticipate her requests. Her preferences are verified and updated at check-in through the PMS system, which then triggers the systems and notifies the people that customize and enhance Joanne’s guest experience. Integration of the Contoso Hotel’s sales and catering system allows the dynamic digital signage to present Joanne with personalized content, based both on the group she’s come with and her own previously captured preference data.
In-Room SolutionsGuest Perspective. With Joanne, experience what a truly customized guest room can be. Leveraging Business Intelligence (BI) and her managed preferences, Joanne’s in-room environment is tailored to her specific needs: the music is soft jazz, the drapes are drawn, the lighting is dimmed and the temperature is a perfect 72 degrees from the moment she sets foot in the door. During her stay, Joanne manages the in-room environment through a single device. From digital entertainment to on-and off-property services, Joanne leverages the same device, and one integrated system, to address all her needs.
Operational Perspective. Gathering and analyzing Joanne’s past transactions, the preferences she’s identified and the group she’s with on property, Contoso Hotel can customize and personalize her experience because of Business Intelligence and Integration. Whether the in-room device is running Windows Vista™ Media Center or Windows® XP Embedded in the flat panel TV, the experience she has is both integrated and intelligent, leveraging real-time information through the Information Hub from all the different systems within the Contoso Hotel property.
Back Office and Above Property SolutionsOperational Perspective. Solutions in this area are usually “invisible” to guests like Joanne, but they can have a direct impact on her experience. By accessing and acting on information captured in key hospitality systems such as PMS, POS and CRM, employees are able to anticipate Joanne’s needs and create a truly personalized experience for her. The data is pulled through the Information Hub and is showcased in an easy-to-view composite UI framework. Critical ERP and BI data is captured and served to management in real time, allowing for fast tracking of key performance indicators and rapid decision making. Employees can act in real time to meet service requests, update preferences and communicate with fellow employees, using either Contoso Hotel equipment or their own mobile devices. All of the Business Intelligence can be viewed and manipulated in the format that is requested most often, Microsoft Office Excel®.
Information Hub: Simplifying Systems Integration. The integration of key hospitality systems, central to enhancing Joanne Malone’s guest experience, is achieved through a central Information Hub at the Contoso Hotel. The Information Hub simplifies what had traditionally been complex, point-to-point communications between a variety of systems. Instead of maintaining expensive interfaces that were necessary for systems to talk to one another, these disparate systems now all talk to the hub. The solution providers present in the Contoso Hotel environment simply supply a connection to the hub in order to expose all relevant data. In addition to gaining a single view into operations, this integration gives the hotel’s employees access to the greatest asset they have for enhancing the guest experience: Guest Information.
