The guest speaker for the February 2016 Mid Valley Claims luncheon was noted expert witness Paul Kayfetz, Principal of Paul Kayfetz, inc.The presentation was a slide show of many different accidents that were reconstructed evidence of which person was at fault. Mr. Kayfetz has over forty years experience and employs computer engineers,video engi-neers and engineering photography experts.One example was a video of a Motorcycle driver, on a frontage road, hit by a backhoe driver that looked over his shoulder and did not see him. The Motorcycle driver lost a leg. Another accident involved an AC Transit Bus that was going 17 mph and hit a pe-destrian that ran in front of the bus. A 21 year old woman seriously injured pelvis.. The Bus had a video camera, and GPS on board, They recreated camera angle in AC Transit parking lot. Driver not at fault.Paul also showed a video involving Pe-destrians: a parent a and child hit in a crosswalk. The driver of the vehicle had the sun in his eyes and a dirty windshield. The city was sued because they did not have flashing lights working that would call attention to a crosswalk. Pedestrian walked in front of car. Case was dismissed with summary judgement. Paul said his firm helps attorneys win and save hundreds of millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements.The 50/50/ Raffle drawing was won by Sherry Wenograd, Frontier Adjusters $15 and Katie Howard with Wingard Construc-tion won $35.

Kayfetz showed numerous video examples of how the technology of video and computer simulation combined.can recreate accident scenarios.

Join the Mid-Valley Claims Association for our annual Fair Claims Regs Recertification Friday, March 18, 2016, as we welcome Ms. Christine Reed, of Low, Ball & Lynch as our presenter. Christine Balbo Reed joined Low Ball & Lynch in 2003. She practices in the areas of employment, personal injury, premises liability, construction de-fect defense. Ms. Reed specializes in the repre-sentation of developers and general contractors, and employers in employment law, litiga-tion and wage disputes. She is admitted to practice in the State of California, before the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, and in the Northern, Central, and Eastern Districts of the Federal Courts.Ms. Reed handles all aspects of litigation, including jury trials in state and federal court and numerous court trials. Her prac-tice also includes appellate work, with the most recent decision published in 2015 in conjunction with Guy Stilson, Valdez v. Santa Lucia Preserve Co. CA6 (H040685) (unpublished), reversing a denied motion to compel arbitration in employment class action matter. Published decisions include

Trend Homes Inc. v. Azperren 131 Cal.App.4th 950 regarding judicial reference in 2005, and again in conjunction with

Guy Stilson in 2010, in Sacramento Suncreek Apartment , LLC, et al. v.Cambridge Advan-taged Properties II L.P., et al. 187 Cal. App. 4th 1, regarding proper service of out of state parties for California jurisdiction.She was born in Tor-rance, California and raised on the Monterey Peninsula. She admitted

to bar 1995 after graduating from the Uni-versity of California, Berkeley in 1991 with a degree in Legal Studies and from Mon-terey College of Law in 1995, where she earned the David Sabih Scholarship Award.Ms. Reed is a member of the California Bar Association, Monterey County Bar Association, and Monterey County Women Lawyers Association and is the Vice Presi-dent of Insurance Professionals of Monterey Peninsula.Ms. Reed resides in Carmel with her hus-band and two children. She enjoys swim-ming, officiating age group swim meets for Pacific Swimming, yoga, skiing, hiking, cooking, and traveling.
