CAMP DIRECTORS: Scott Vicroy is a well-known Lincoln middle school director and professional musician. He plays with the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra and other area instrumental groups. He directs the band and jazz band at Pound Middle School.
Jim Schulz directs strings at Hartley, Holmes, Meadow Lane and Culler Schools. He has been involved with the LPS Summer Band Camp for several years and always makes this a great time of music making and learning for middle school sudents.
What is the LPS Middle School Summer Band/Jazz Camp? A week long band experience where any band student having completed grade 6, 7 or 8 can play in a band, discover how the computer can help them in practicing their instrument, and see what improvisation is like!

What will a day look like at camp? 9:00 a.m. - Noon
Traditional Band Experience: Students will rehearse as a full band.
Computer Assisted Music Writing and Practice: Students will use technology to drill and practice music skills and compose music.
Jazz Improvisation: Students will study the 12 Bar Blues form and learn the basics of improvisation. Students will create a 12 Bar Blues solo.
How much does it cost? $25 (checks payable to Lincoln Public Schools). Register early! The deadline is Monday, May 14, 2018, or until the capacity is reached.
