MIDDLE SCHOOL MATHEMATICS
• Throughout the year, students will continue to work from the lessons provided in their text book, Holt Mathematics.
• This course covers concepts on number sense operations
• statistics and graphing,
• fraction concepts and operations
• integers within Algebra
focuses on important, grade level strands that are a part of the yearly progression.
INCORPORATING STRATEGIES NEEDED TO BECOME GOOD PROBLEM SOLVERS TEACHES US HOW TO LEARN TO THINK THROUGH A PROBLEM. STRATEGIES SUCH AS……..
• drawing a diagram
• making a model
• predicting and testing,
• working backward
• making an organized list
• finding a pattern
• making a table
• solving a simpler problem and writing an equation

HOMEWORK
- Homework is assigned every night, typically
- Homework is collected daily
- Homework will also be on Moodle, board, notes
- Calculators: not allowed
ASSESSMENTS• Chapter Tests
2 days notice before a test
review game of some sort during class
A study guide will be provided before a test
Typically multiple choice and/or open ended questions according to abilities
• Mid Chapter Quizzes
1 day notice before a quiz
A review sheet will be provided prior to a quiz
