The mass will be sung as part of our normal Rite II Eucharist. This music follows the tradition of the missa brevis or “brief mass” with musical settings for the Gloria, Sanctus, Benedictus and Agnus Dei. Today we generally sing these parts of the mass as a congregation from settings found in our hymnal. The setting offered on February 8 is intended to be sung by the choir alone, acting on behalf of the congregation. Also joining us on this Sunday will be Nick Hartline on clarinet, offering the prelude and, with the Adult Choir, the offertory anthem. 9 th Graders will gather for fun, food, and fellowship in the Lupton Reading Room following the 10:30 a.m. service on Sundays, February 8 & 22, March 22, April 12, and April 26. Lenten Reflection Writers Needed - with a new twist this year … Once again we plan to publish a Lent Devotion book with reflections written by parishioners. This year, instead of writing on the daily readings, our writers will put pen to paper (well, fingers to keyboards?) after reflecting on the Gospel for each week and an image chosen by our resident art historian Matt Farr. We hope the images will take us deeper into the word and that multiple reflections on the same gospel will generate common ground for good conversations on the journey into the Lenten wilderness. If you are willing to write a short reflection, please contact [email protected] ASAP.

Lent Morning Prayer Leaders Needed Morning Prayer will be read Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays during the season of Lent (Friday, February 21 through Wednesday, April 1), 8:30-9 a.m. in the Chapel. If you are willing to lead, please

contact [email protected]. Don't get stuck in a rut on your Lenten journey; charge up with the power of prayer. "Prayer does not change God, but it changes him who prays." (Soren Kierkegaard).
