It has been a goal of Ella’s to receive this award and she has made the appropriate effort to be a deserving recipient. I love the energy and happiness that Ella has and shares around. Ella has a long list of positive attributes to her character that have helped her to receive the Personal Best Award and I congratulate her and encourage her to keep travelling in the right direction. PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE What a fabulous first week we have had back at school for Middleton Public School. I have been so impressed with the students as they have settled very nicely back into Term 3. It has been a real pleasure to walk into classrooms, join in with activities and talk with students as they take part in their lessons. The playground has also been a hive of activity, with lots of children running and playing sensibly together. A great start to the term! Schools are often a busy place for sporting activities also. Congratulations to the girls’ touch football team who played against Parkes PS on Friday, narrowly being defeated 2-1. I am told the girls played with exceptional sportsmanship and I bet it was an enjoyable game to watch. Thank you also to Mrs Folau for her coaching assistance on the day. The boys’ touch football team play their game against Forbes North PS this Friday and we wish them the best of luck also. I will be in Sydney tomorrow and Wednesday, participating in an Education Masterclass, with the other Principals from Parkes public schools. This conference was organised some time ago, so for me it has meant a quick change of my plans to fit this in. I am looking forward to the opportunity to meet and work with the other principals and begin discussions on how we can work together with the Henry Parkes Learning Community. Next week we will be celebrating Education Week, with the theme Today’s schools Creating Tomorrow’s World. Staff are busy preparing for this event and we invite you to join us in seeing how our teachers are preparing your children for the future, with Open Classrooms to be held on Wednesday. Further details will be provided in next week’s newsletter. I am looking forward also to meeting many parents at the P&C meeting on Tuesday, 7 August at 7pm. I always encourage parents and community members to come along and be involved in the school and I hope to see lots of people there. Have a great week, Paul Principal (Rlg) Thought for the week: “Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are endless.” Mother Teresa

Pocket Toys at School

We are trialling something new, where students are

allowed to bring a small pocket toy from home to use

in their break times in the playground. For example, a

matchbox car, a pack of cards, a handball, a small doll

or plastic animal. This will help promote responsibility,

student interactions and conversations as well as

development of social skills. Please be aware that

students will be solely responsible for looking after

their pocket toy and damages that may be caused

while playing with it.

Triple Reward Day Points This term students will be earning points each day to receive a triple reward day in Week 5. Students who demonstrate respectful, responsible behaviour can earn 10 points each day. Students who receive more than 180 points in total will receive a Red Day Lolly Bag, free play and a mufti beanie day. Students who receive between 170-180 total points will receive free play and a beanie day. Students who receive between 80 – 170 points will be eligible for the beanie day.

tomorrow if you have not already done so.

Please also return all permission notes as soon as possible.

Thank you for your assistance with these matters. We are looking forward to a great trip!

Peer Support Newsletter Notice – Week 2 We are commencing our Peer Support lessons this week. The whole school participates in Peer Support

for 30 minutes each week.

Two Peer Leaders facilitate a small group of 5 or 6 younger students, who work together through a

number of structured activities. Each teacher will supervise 2-3 groups in their classroom.

We are working on a module called Keeping Friends which helps us explore the concept of friendship,

build relationships and develop skills in empathy and critical thinking. The module runs for 8 sessions.

Our first session enables the children to get to know everyone in their group, agreeing on how they will

work together and interact cooperatively with others. They will also begin to think about the meaning

of friendship.

We encourage you to talk to your children about Peer Support every week as it will help to reinforce

the concepts learned in each session.

Sports Equipment at School

Each classroom has a range of sporting equipment that students can borrow during break times. We would prefer students not to bring their personal sports equipment from home and to use our balls as if they go over fences into private property or on the roof we may not be able to retrieve them.

Middleton Girls PSSA Touch Football Team

We understand at times it can be a little difficult to get kids from school then to

activities that will keep them active. PCYC Parkes is well suited to help you with

our afterschool care. Once your child has finished school they can jump onto

the town bus which will drop your child off at the front door where our staff are

waiting. We will then feed your kids afternoon tea, help with homework, get

creative with art projects and then take them to their activities.

Our primary school age basketball starts Tuesday from 5pm and we are very excited to announce PCYC Netball will

start on Monday the 30th. Come down and have a try. For more information on any of the above head to our Facebook

page.
