They will present a selection of Middle Eastern instrumental pieces and songs in the Arabic language, concentrating on the classical genre. MCC faculty member Johannah Segarich, mezzo soprano, will also be on the program. Ed HardingAnchor, WCVB Channel 5 Fall 2015 Opening Session1:30 – 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 7Bedford Campus Center Café East

Ed Harding is co-anchor for the NewsCenter 5 early-evening and late newscasts. Previously, he co-anchored the EyeOpener and NewsCenter 5 at 11 p.m.. Harding joined the EyeOpener team in 2000 and added his duties at 11 p.m. in 2004. Prior to joining the EyeOpener, he had been the weekend sports anchor and reporter for Channel 5 since 1988.

Before joining WCVB, Harding was sports director and principal sports anchor for WISH-TV, the CBS affiliate in Indianapolis. At WISH, he anchored and produced the 6 p.m. and 11 p.m.sportscasts, co-produced and reported the station’s annual “Indy 500” special, and was producer and host of The Colts Today, the NFL Indianapolis Colts coach’s show. For three years, he providedlive reports and color commentary for Colts games on WIBC Radio. While in the midwest, Harding won two Indiana Associated Press Awards and was named Best TV Sportscaster by Indianapolis Magazine.

A native of Newton, Harding graduated from Emerson College in Boston. He lives in Wellesley withhis wife. Now considered empty-nesters, the Hardings are very proud of their two children. One is ateacher in Hudson, and the other is a weekend anchor with the NBC affiliate in Kennewick, Wash.

MIL 601 “Action, Action.” The Films of Raoul Walsh

This semester we are returning to theroots of classic Hollywood cinemawith the viewing of selected films ofRaoul Walsh. Starting as a stageactor in New York, the young Walshmoved west in pursuit of adventure,

landing a role as John Wilkes Booth in D.W. Griffith’smasterpiece the Birth of a Nation. He learned the directingtrade as an assistant to Griffith and reached the peak of hiscareer in the late ’30s and ’40s with Warner Brothers. Hewas one of the originators of the gangster genre and amaster of several other Classic Hollywood genre. The films to be viewed are still TBA, but you’ll see someclassic Hollywood stars such as Humphrey Bogart, James Cagney, Ida Lupino, Teresa Wright, Virginia Mayo, and Gregory Peck in their prime!Presenter: Stan Hitron, retired MCC Humanities Chair and faculty member.

video tour two national parks and several nationalhistorical parks and wildlife refuges.Presenter:  Ron Reynolds (along with his wife, Carol) has visited 45national parks in the past 11 years.  They have taken day hikes on many ofthe trails in the parks.  Ron has recorded these trips on video while Carolhas enjoyed photographing wild flowers and wildlife.
