MindTap MobileStudents can use the MindTap Mobile App to view Activity statuses and details, read thetextbook, view grades, review Flashcards or take practice quizzes for their MindTap courses.

In this release, MindTap Mobile works on iOS 9.0 and later.MindTap Mobile is available for iPhones and Android phones.

Log into MindTap MobileYou can log into courses in the MindTap Mobile App without activating your course from theweb.

1 Open MindTap Mobile.

2 Enter your username/email address and password.

3 Tap Log In.The License Agreement displays.

4 Read through the License Agreement.Tap Accept when finished.Tap Agree to confirm.

NOTE: You only need to accept the License Agreement on the first login.



Navigate MindTap MobileUse the main menu to navigate between MindTap Mobile features.

Switch Between CoursesIf you are enrolled in more than one course, you can switch between your courses.

1 On the home screen, tap the course name displayed at the top.

2 Tap the course you want to select.



Return to the Main MenuReturn to the main menu to navigate to other parts of MindTap Mobile.

Tap in the upper left of your screen.The return arrow is available in all views except the reader.



NotificationsNotifications initially appear as push notifications on your phone.

The MindTap Mobile App displays several different notifications:• Instructor Messages: Instructor messages display in courses that have the Message Center

App.• Cengage Announcements: Announcements posted in MindTap.• Due Date Changes: Changes to Activity due dates.• Activity Score Changes: Changes to Activity scores.• Instructor Comments: Instructors post comments to students' Activity submissions.

Push notifications are changed in the settings page in the app.

View NotificationsTo view notifications, use the following procedure:

1 From the main menu, tap Notifications.The notifications page lists your notifications.A check mark displays next to the notifications you have viewed.

2 Tap the notification you want to view.



Delete NotificationsYou can delete notifications you no longer need.

1 From the main menu, tap Notifications.The notifications page lists your notifications.A check mark displays next to the notifications you have viewed.

2 Use either action:• Slide the notification left and tap Delete.• Tap the notification to open it. Then, tap .

The notification is deleted.

Change Notification SettingsYou can change your push notification settings.

1 From the main menu, tap Settings.

2 Tap Push Notifications.

3 Turn notifications on or off for the listed notification types.

4 Tap Save.



Mark Your AttendanceIf your instructor takes attendance with MindTap mobile, you can mark yourself as presentafter your instructor starts the Attendance timer.

Once you mark yourself as present you cannot go back and edit your attendance.You can check your attendance records by tapping on Attendance on the main menu. Classesyou've attended appear at the top and classes you've missed appear at the bottom.

NOTE: Location services is required to use attendance. You will be prompted to turn onlocation services the first time using attendance. If you previously denied access for theMindTap Mobile App to access location services you can change it in the settings on yourphone.

1 From the main menu, tap Attendance.

2 In the Today section, tap Check In.

3 Tap the check mark in the center of the screen.

ResultThe check mark turns green and your attendance is recorded.



Activity ListYou can view assigned activities and their status and scores from the Activities page.

IMPORTANT: You can complete only certain types of activities in MindTap Mobile.

The following activity types display:• Media (A link to the video is available)• Readings (A link to the eBook is available)• Assessments• Flashcards• Homework

1 From the main menu, tap Activities.

2 Tap the Week, Unit, or Calendar view.

Example

Week ViewThe week view shows activities due the current week and next week only. You can't skipahead to other weeks or see previous weeks.

Unit ViewAll activities within the unit are shown.



Calendar ViewThe Calendar view has a high level overview for all due dates in the course. Dates withactivities that are graded appear as a green dot. Activities that do not count towards agrade appear as a gray dot.To go back to the current day at any time tap Today at the top right of the screen.

View Activity DetailsYou can view the details of the activities assigned to you by tapping on a specific activity in anyof the three view options. The following images show the fields that display depending on thetype of activity.

1 From the main menu, tap Activities.

2 Tap the Week, Unit, or Calendar view.

3 Tap an activity.

1 Type of activity — homework, flashcards, etc.

2 Name of activity — The name of the activity displays in bold.

3 Description — Displays a description of the activity if the instructor wrote one.

4 Status — Displays the completion status of the assignment.

5 Go to -Displays a link to go to the Reader, Study Tools, or Pronounce. Only forReading, Study Tools, and Pronounce activities.

6 Due Date — Displays the due date. Only appears if an activity has a due date.

7 Available Date -Displays the date and time the activity is available.

8 Reminder -Set a reminder for activities by tapping Set Reminder.

9 Apple Calendar -Add the activity to your Apple Calendar.

10 Video — Tap the video thumbnail to watch the video. You can only play Cengagehosted videos and videos streamed on wifi.



MindTap ReaderWith MindTap Mobile, you can read the textbook on your phone even while offline.

NOTE: U.S. textbooks with copyright dates 2015-2018 are supported.Textbooks from 2014 and earlier, as well as international and custom titles, are notsupported.

Highlight PassagesYou can highlight text in your textbook.

1 Tap and hold on the text until two selection icons appear.

2 Drag the icons to set the start and end of your selection.

A menu is displayed over your selection.

3 Tap Highlight.

ResultThe selected text is highlighted.

Optional: To change the color of a highlight or to underline the highlight, tap the highlight,then tap the color button.





Add NotesYou can add your own notes to the textbook.

1 Tap and hold on the text until two selection icons appear.

2 Drag the icons to set the start and end of your selection.

A menu is displayed over your selection.

3 Tap Note.The text is highlighted and a sticky note appears.



4 Type your note.

NOTE: Notes can be edited and added to highlights in the textbook menu.

5 Optional: To change the color of the note tap the color button, then select a color.

6 Tap Save to save the note.



Bookmark PagesBookmark pages to quickly return to specific sections or passages.

1 Tap the screen to display the Reader menu.

2 Tap .

ResultThe bookmark marks the section heading or beginning of the selected paragraph.



Search the TextbookYou can search for terms in your textbook.


2 Tap .

3 In the search box, type a keyword or phrase and tap the search key.Search results appear highlighted and sectioned off by chapters.

4 Tap a result to go to it.



Change Reader Display SettingsYou can change the font face and size or switch between day and night modes in the Reader.

1 Tap .

2 Use the controls at the bottom of the screen to:• Switch between day and night mode.• Select a different font.• Change the font size.

ResultYour changes are saved. You can change your settings again at any time.

NOTE: You can't automatically revert to the default display settings, but you can selectthem individually.

Exit the ReaderTo return to the main menu, exit the Reader.

Study ToolsUse the study tools to make sure you know key concepts.

Flashcard MasteryYou can mark flashcards as mastered to track your progress and focus only on the terms youstill need to study. The number of mastered terms is shown on the Study Tools page for eachchapter.



3 To mark the current flashcard as mastered, tap .Tap again to toggle mastery.

4 Tap .

5 To show only mastered, unmastered, or all flashcards, tap Mastered, Unmastered, or Allcards.



Add or Edit Custom FlashcardsYou can add your own flashcards to a chapter.

b Tap Add Flashcard.

EDIT A FLASHCARD

a Swipe to the flashcard you want to edit.

c Tap Edit Flashcard.

4 In Front, type the term.

5 In Back, type the definition.

6 Tap Save.



Practice QuizzesTake practice quizzes to test your knowledge of the key terms and concepts for a chapter.

Practice quizzes are not counted toward your grade. You can take a practice quiz again asmany times as you want.Terms from your custom flashcards are also included in the practice quiz.


2 Tap the Practice Quiz button for a chapter.

3 To answer a question, tap the term that matches the displayed definition.

The correct answer is shown with a green check mark and your quiz score is updated at thetop of the screen.

4 To go to the next question, swipe left.You can't go back to a previous question.

ResultAfter answering the last question, your score is displayed.





PronounceReview your pronunciation of terms or take pronunciation tests for each chapter.

Before you begin

NOTE: Not available for all courses.

Your instructor must enable Pronounce in MindTap for you to use it in the Mobile app.

Pronunciation test• Counts toward your grade• Includes a randomly selected set of terms from the chapter

Pronunciation review• Does not count toward your grade• Includes all terms from the chapter

Use the same procedure to review terms or take a test.

1 From the main menu, tap Pronounce.

2 Tap the pronunciation review or test.

3 On the Attempt page, tap New Attempt.To continue your most recent attempt, tap Continue.

4 From the list of terms, tap a term.

Answer Class PollsIf your instructor starts a poll using MindTap mobile, the live poll displays at the top.

Once you submit an answer you cannot go back and change it.You can check polls you've completed in the past by tapping Polling in the main menu.

1 From the main menu, tap Polling.

2 Tap the poll you want to answer.You can only answer live polls. Live polls display **LIVE** on the right.

3 Tap an answer and then tap Submit.

ResultYour answer is recorded.

NOTE: The results of the poll are not shown until the timer runs out or your instructorcloses the poll.



GradebookYou can view your overall course grade, category grades, and activity grades on the Gradebookpage. Practice activities are not shown in the gradebook.

For your security, the gradebook requires additional authentication.

1 From the main menu, tap Gradebook.

2 Enter your Cengage account password.

3 View your overall course grade and category grades.Your course grade is shown at the top of the page, followed by grades for each category. Ifcategory weighting is used, each category's weight is also listed.



4 Optional: View individual activity grades.

a Tap a category to see grades for activities in that category.

b Optional: Tap an activity to see details, including the points earned/possible and anyinstructor comments.
