M I NI Service
MINI recom me n d s you have your mainte na n ce and repair
work performe d by an author iz e d MINI dealer.
M aintaining Your MINI Vehicle
A well-ma in tai n e d vehicle will help safegua rd its operati o n al perform an ce , road-saf e ty and its reliability. This is why it is
importan t to follow and perform MINI’s recom m en d e d periodi c vehicle inspe ct i o n s and mainte na n ce service tasks
as indicate d by your vehicle’ s Mainten a n ce Service Display, along with the other mainten a n ce work descri b e d in this
booklet .
Damage, including consequ en ti al damage, which
results from lack of or improp e r
mainten a n ce is not covered under the MINI New Passen g er Car Limited Warranty.
M aintenance Intervals
Mainte na n ce interval s on motor vehicles were convent i on al ly
based solely on a fixed time period or a specifie d amoun t of accum ul a te d driving mileage.
However, operatio n al and driving conditi o n s have a major
influen ce on your vehicle’s routine mainten a n ce require m e nts; the distan ce traveled is only one of these
significa nt factors . A vehicle used for short trips in the city with numero u s cold starts , prolonge d period s of idling, stop-a n d -
go driving, and high engine speeds during accele rat io n may require more frequen t mainten a n ce interval s than a vehicle
that is driven long distan ce s at moderate engine speeds.
Your MINI vehicle uses sensors and algorith m s togethe r with
the elapse d time and the driving distan ce / p ro fil e to monitor
and evaluate your vehicle’ s mainten a n ce service needs. This informa ti o n is then used to adapt dyna mi ca ll y the param ete rs
used to forecast the appli ca b l e mainte na n ce service task interval s.
The MINI Maintenance System
All MINI vehicles are equipp e d with an integrate d MINI
Mainte na n ce System . This mainten a n ce “remin de r” system helps ensure that the vehicle
inspe cti o n s and mainten a n ce service tasks are perfo r m e d
at the foreca ste d interval s that apply to your vehicle.
The MINI Mainten a n ce System display provide s the vehicle
operator acce ss to the curren t status informa ti o n for the following mainten a n ce service tasks:
Engine oil (date and miles)
Vehicle check (date and miles)
Front brake pads (miles)
Rear brake pads (miles)
Brake fluid (date)
For each specific maintena n ce service task, either the future date (month/ye a r), remaining miles or both are provided as
noted above. The system monitors variable inputs to forecast the intervals and alert the driver when one or more specifi c
maintenan ce s tasks should be performe d .
Note: For certain vehicle s, the status of the front and rear brake
pads will only be observa b le in the mainten a n ce system’ s display when there are approxi m a tely 2,00 0 miles or less
remaini ng before a brake service will be require d to be performed.
For inform a ti on about the vehicle’ s mainte n an ce syste m
display s, please refer to the Mainten a n ce Service Display Overview sectio n beginni ng on page 3.
The following “comb in e with Engine oil” mainten a n ce service
tasks may be identif ie d as needing to be perform e d with a specifi c occurre n ce of the “Engine oil” service task (servi ce
counte r number):
Cabin Microfil te r( s )
Engine air filter(s)
Spark plugs
Althou g h these items do not appea r in the MINI Mainten a n ce
System’ s display in the vehicle, these service s should be performe d when your vehicle’ s engine oil is changed in
accord an ce with the interval identi fi e d by your vehicle’ s MINI Maintenan ce System.
For more inform a ti on on your vehicle’ s mainten a n ce service s
require m e nts, proce du re s and interval s , please refer the Mainte na n ce Service Summ ary sectio n beginni ng on page 5.

The MINI Mainten a n ce System also include s an option to
set service reminde rs for the following state-spe ci fi c
mandato ry vehicle inspecti on s, including:
Vehicle safety inspecti on ; and/or
Emissio n s test
The corresp o n di n g interval data for these inspe cti o n s can be
inputte d into the MINI Mainten a n ce System by a service
provide r; they are not determi ne d by the vehicle.
For your conveni en ce , you may also wish to have your
author i ze d MINI dealer perform the work necessa ry to fulfill
these state inspe cti o n require m e n ts in your area concu rre n t
with the mainte n an ce service s specifi e d above when
possible.
S h o u ld y o u re qu est m o re fre que n t m a in te na n ce se rv ic e th a n i s i n dica ted by the M I N I M ain te n a nc e Sy stem du rin g the c o v era ge pe rio d, th e co st o f the se serv ice s w ill n o t be

S e rvice Data — Key/Remote Control
