What is a mini drafter? A mini drafter is an important device used for preparing drawing quickly & accurately. With the use of mini drafter the drawing of building, apartment, industries are planned accurately & too in very less time.Mini Drafter a mini drafter is a very convenient drawing instrument for students since it combines all the functions of a T-square, set squares and a protractor.

HISTORY

Drafting machines were present in the design offices of European companies since the 1920s. It is curious to see how the Encyclopedia Britannica explicitly specifies 1930 as the year this tool was introduced, but an advertisement of "Memorie di architettura pratica" from 1913 places it twenty years before this date-at least in Italy. COMPONENTS OF MINI DRAFTER

A drafter consists of a scale, a scale screw, a scale plate, steel bars, a bar plate and a clamping mechanism. An L-shaped scale is graduated in mm along both the arms. It also carries a degree scale for angle measurement. The scale is joined to a clamping mechanism by means of steel bars, the bar plate and the scale plate in such a way that it can be moved to the desired location on the drawing board. A mini drafter with a transparent plastic scale is recommended for school and college students.

WORKING OF MINI DRAFTER

The uses and advantages of the T-square, set squares scale and the protectorare combined in the drafting machine. Its one end is clamped by the means of screw to the distant longer edge of the drawing board. At its other the adjustable head (H) having protractor markings Is fitted. Two blades (B) of transparent celluloid accurately set at right angles to each other are attached to the head. The machine has a mechanism which keeps the two blades (B) always parallel to their original position, wherever they may be moved on the board. The blades have scales marked on them and are used as straight edges. The blades may be set at any desired angle with the help of the protractor (H). A mini-drafter is a smaller version of usual drafting machine Is used for class work. When not in use, the arms and strips may be folded and kept in small cover.

It can be used to draw parallel lines, perpendiculars, inclined lines of any degree with unmatched speed, it consists of one long scale and one small scale and the scales are shaped in 'L' shaped and by a mini drafter we can do 3 kinds of works: 1) Drawing of lines 2) Drawing perpendiculars for the lines 3) We can use that as a protractor simultaneouslyADVANTAGES OF MINI DRAFTER

Roller ScaleA roller scale is a handy device used to draw parallel and inclined lines. It consists of a broad scale that includes a protractor mounted on a roller, Fig. 1.6. The accuracy of this device is not comparable with the accuracy of a T-square and drafter. However, it is a speedy device and may be used for practice in classrooms.

The future scope of mini drafter and other drawing instrument can be imagined as a digitalized form of them.Digitalization is a need and requirement for next generation.In present era where everything is becoming digitalize, it is the demand of time that engineering drawing should be raise from these instrument to digitalize software. Digitalization of mini drafter can be accomplished by learning CAD.About CAD:-Computer-aided design (CAD) is the use of computer systems to assist in the creation, modification, analysis, or optimization of a design.CAD software is used to increase the productivity of the designer, improve the quality of design, improve communications through documentation, and to create a database for manufacturing. CAD output is often in the form of electronic files for print, machining, or other manufacturing operations.
