If the government were allowed to expropriate mineral claims without compensation for any reason, the basic value of that title would drop. The resulting insecurity of title would damage the entire industry. Mining exploration is already high risk. We do not need the government adding to that risk by trying to escape their responsibilities to claim owners with either more appeals, or by legislation allowing expropriation without appropriate compensation. The Presidents report by Jack Denny

It was good to see that Adroit Resources has won their Supreme Court of BC Expropriation Case. This is encouraging for claim owners in BC who have seen a steady erosion of the integrity of their title (real or perceived) over the last few years. The Government has been fighting this case in the “public interest” and yet they are the entity which sold the titles in the first place. It is my opinion that the “public interest” would be best served by allowing claim holders to spend money and create jobs. At the very least, there is a moral obligation for the government to pay up when taking an asset. Eagle Plains, Prize's Yellowjacket JV receives permit

Mr. Tim Termuende reports

EAGLE PLAINS/PRIZE MINING RECEIVE SMALL MINES PERMIT FOR YELLOWJACKET GOLD PROJECT, ATLIN, B.C.

Eagle Plains Resources Ltd. and Prize Mining Corp.'s Yellowjacket venture has been awarded a Small Mines Act permit for development and production at the Yellowjacket gold project in northwestern British Columbia from the British Columbia Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources. The permit allows for the development and operation of an open pit gold mine and on-site concentrator processing up to 75,000 tons per year of ore.

The Yellowjacket JV, Eagle Plains and Prize Mining management teams consider the delivery of the mining and milling permit a major achievement and milestone for the project, its advisers and consultants. The permit is one of only three small mine permits issued by BC-MEMPR since May, 2007. The permit process was steered by the Northwest Mine Development Review Committee (NWMDRC).

The Yellowjacket gold project is located within the traditional territory of the Taku River Tlingit First Nation (TRTFN) which has been active participants in the review and approval of the Small Mines Act permit both through their representation on the NWMDRC and in direct consultation with the Yellowjacket JV proponents. Sultan resumes drilling at Jersey-Emerald project

Mr. Arthur Troup reports SULTAN MINERALS RESUMES DRILLING ON ITS TUNGSTEN-MOLYBDENUM PROPERTY

Diamond drilling has resumed on Sultan Minerals Inc.'s Jersey-Emerald property in the Salmo area of British Columbia. Drilling is under way with a surface drill to investigate the potential of several new tungsten, zinc and molybdenum targets discovered in 2008.

Drill site preparation is currently under way and diamond drilling is scheduled to begin immediately. The program will initially involve drill testing three large new tungsten and zinc targets discovered by geochemical, geophysical and trenching programs completed in 2009 (see news in Stockwatch Feb. 17, 2009). Drilling is also planned for the recently acquired Victory tungsten deposit and for targets discussed in the NI 43-101 tungsten resource estimate released in Stockwatch Jan. 21, 2009.

The Jersey-Emerald property is host to the historic Jersey lead-zinc mine, British Columbia's second largest lead-zinc producer and the former Emerald tungsten mine, Canada's second largest tungsten mine. Year-round gravel roads and power lines cross the property and water is plentiful. Underground workings of the historic Jersey and Dodger deposits are in excellent condition allowing for future underground access with little rehabilitation. More at www.sultanminerals.com

Mining: Good neighbor and provider to the world

by Mike Caswell Almaden Minerals Ltd. has won a tax ruling over $1.4-million in exploration costs that it incurred on its Siwash mine in 1996. In a July 3, 2009, judgment, the Supreme Court of British Columbia has overturned a 2001 decision by the Ministry of Provincial Revenue that disallowed a deduction for the

work. The judge has ordered the government to refund taxes of $266,027, plus interest and court costs.

The decision, handed down by Supreme Court Justice Paul Walker, briefly outlines the background of the dispute. Almaden extracted ore from the Siwash mine, located between Merritt and Summerland, B.C., from 1992 to 1994. The mine had an open pit and an underground decline, and produced gold and silver. The company ceased extracting ore in October, 1994, and allowed the underground decline to flood in September, 1995. Although Almaden had stopped mining, it still had several thousand tonnes of stockpiled material to be milled. In 1996, the company sold some of this stockpiled ore to Asarco Inc., which had a smelter in Montana. That year, Asarco's smelter processed ore from the Siwash mine into 3,789 ounces of gold and 5,880 ounces of silver. Asarco paid Almaden $1.2-million for the ore.

The judge notes that the company reported revenue of $1.6-million from the mine that year. Offsetting that revenue, the company claimed it had $1.4-million in exploration expenses from work that it had done on the property. Normally, such deductions are allowed when a mine is running. The problem, as the Ministry of Provincial Revenue saw it, was that the company was no longer producing ore from the property. In a notice of assessment dated Feb. 26, 2001, the ministry said that Almaden was not entitled to deduct exploration expenses because the company was not producing minerals during fiscal 1996. The company disagreed, and filed a lawsuit against the government in 2005.

One of the issues, as framed by the judge, is whether or not the company was producing minerals in reasonable commercial quantities in 1996. The government argued that the mine was not producing minerals in such quantities because it was only loading and transporting stockpiled ore. Almaden, for its part, said that it would be absurd to limit the definition of mining to only extracting ore through drilling and blasting.

The judge noted that the governing legislation in B.C., the Mineral Tax Act, does not formally define production of minerals. He looked to both his dictionary and similar legislation in other provinces for assistance, but was not able to reach a conclusion based entirely on either source. The dictionary was not specific enough. Legislation in other jurisdictions was no help either as some provinces, such as Ontario, allow for using stockpiled materials in their definitions, while others, such as Manitoba, do not. The judge then turned to a 1994 transcript from a session in the Legislature, in which MLAs were discussing the section of the act that applies to Almaden. The deputy premier at the time, Elizabeth Cull, stated that the intention ofthen-recent amendments to the Mineral Tax Act were to allow mining companies to collect exploration costs and apply them as the occasion arises, to their maximum benefit. Based on the transcript, the judge ruled that the intent of the act favours Almaden. It does not restrict exploration cost deductions to instances when a company is actually carrying out drilling, excavation or development. "Indeed, such a restrictive approach would be inconsistent with the legislative purpose of the amendments made to the statutory scheme in 1994," his decision reads. He ordered the government to reimburse Almaden's previously paid taxes, plus interest. Judge Walker also ordered the government to pay Almaden's court costs.

Almaden still holds the Siwash mine, which it now calls the Elk Gold project. The company extracted 51,750 ounces of gold from the property in the 1990s, but has not mined there since. It prepared a resource estimate in 2007 that showed a measured resource of 119,200 ounces of gold above a cut-off grade of 11.585 grams per tonne. The stock closed at 70 cents Tuesday, down a penny.

Anglo Swiss Resources Inc. (TSX Venture: ASW) (OTCBB: ASWRF) (Frankfurt: AMO.F), July 10, 2009, 8:00 am EST announces further assay results from its continuing NI 43-101 compliant underground vein sample program. This news release presents the results of the program

for the drift known as the South Yule.

This portion of the program included 56 vein samples and two grab samples from the upper and lower walls of the South Yule vein, with the highest gold value reported by Assayers Canada at 2,696 gm/tonne (78.63 oz/ton). The results given below complete the assay program along the 32-lineal metre South Yule Vein drift, which included small stopes and a crosscut, totaling 95 metres of sampled exposed quartz vein face."This assay along with the other numerous multi-ounce gold assays reconfirms the great history and potential of the Kenville Gold Mine property" stated Len Danard, President & CEO. "It is the extremely high grade pockets that Anglo Swiss has discovered within this mine that reconfirm why it was one of British Columbia's top producing gold mines in the era of $20 to $35 per ounce gold."

The outstanding fire assay gold result by Assayers Canada of 2696.00 grams per tonne was obtained from a sample weighing 3405 grams. The follow-up assay by IPL confirmed a high value of 2283.27 grams per tonne gold. A confirmation sample by IPL using the gravimetric technique resulted in a gold assay value of 2328.17 grams per tonne.

Two independent companies performed the fire assays: 1) Assayers Canada, and 2) International Plasma Labs Ltd. Some gravimetric assaying was also performed for confirmation purposes. **Notice**Anglo Swiss Resources Inc. is currently working towards re-

opening the historic Kenville Gold Mine just west of Nelson. The first workings began in the 1880’s and continued until the 1950’s. A significant part of the history of Nelson revolves around the supply, services and profits from the mine operations. Being one of the most prolific gold producers in the Province in its prime, the mine operations had many participants. Many fathers and grandfathers of the current residents of Nelson and area were part of the history of the Kenville.

Anglo Swiss wishes to ensure that history is captured and celebrated for its significant value to the development of this community. This notice is a call for all residents to search their attics, basements and bottom drawers for any photographs, diaries, maps, plans or records of the Kenville. Any submissions will be placed in the Kenville Mine historical records section of the Chamber. Any persons with any materials are asked to contact the Chamber or Richard Munroe, P.Geo. (604-728-1875) who is acting as the mine geologist for Anglo Swiss. Information can also be submitted to the company at www .Anglo-SwissResources.com or 604-683-0484. Your support for this project is greatly appreciated.

Adroit Resources

In a judgment handed down on June 24, 2009, the Supreme Court of British Columbia ordered the Provincial Government of British Columbia to pay to Adroit the sum of $603,633 as compensation for the July, 1995 expropriation of the “Amber” mineral claims. In addition, the Court ordered the Government to pay Adroit’s legalcosts and to pay interest on the monetary award from July, 1995 to the present at the “banker’s prime rate to the government to be calculated as compound interest”. The Company has not yet calculated costs and interest, but the total award is estimated to be well in excess of $1,400,000.

In July, 1995, the B.C. Government expropriated the “Amber” claims from the Company for the creation of a provincial park. The Company subsequently sought compensation for such expropriation through the courts. On June 5, 2003, the Company received a four to one judgment in its favour from the British Columbia Court of Appeal. The Court of Appeal ordered that the amount of compensation payable to the Company be determined by the Expropriation Compensation Board of British Columbia. The British Columbia Government subsequently applied to the Supreme Court of Canada to have the Court of Appeal’s ruling overturned. The Supreme Court of Canada dismissed the Government’s application on April 8, 2004.

The Company subsequently commenced negotiations with the B.C. Government for a monetary settlement, but did not receive an acceptable offer from the Government. In the interim, the Province of British Columbia has amended expropriation legislation, abolishing the Expropriation Board and providing that expropriation proceedings were to be dealt with before the Supreme Court of British Columbia. The Company therefore instructed its corporate counsel, Holmes & King, to assume conduct of the file to pursue the quantum claim.

A four week trial was held in January and February, 2009. The judgment in favour of the Company is the result of that litigation. A copy of the Reasons for Judgment will be available on the Supreme Court website within the next few days. Any appeal from that judgment must be filed within 30 days. Further details of the Company’s expropriation claim against the Government are on the Company’s web site: www.adroitresources.ca.

Kootenay Mining History Book Submitted by A. Terry Turner During the next 12 months I will be researching, writing and publishing a book on the early mining history of the Kootenays. It will focus on the following:- the discovery of significant deposits and development of major mining camps; - prominent prospectors, geologists, promoters, surveyors etc;- mining techniques and early smelters;- fascinating stories and excerpts from personal diaries;- mining's contribution to the economy and Kootenay heritage. The book will be richly illustrated with more than 200 photographs, maps and graphics. Based on the four other books published by the author since 1997, it is anticipated the book will require more than 350 volunteer hours to complete. Approximately 90 percent of the cost is related to design and printing. This in a "non-profit" project. ENCORE NEARING COMMENCMENT OF BULK TEST MINING AT BONAPARTE GOLD PROPERTY Encore Renaissance Resources Corp. is continuing to mobilize all equipment necessary to commence work on the Bonaparte property

exploration bulk mine test during the week of July 20, 2009.

Mining work will commence on the portal for the decline, immediately following the conclusion of the dewatering at the main pit area. The company has been negotiating to secure a trucking contract this week that will enable the initial mined material from the portal of the decline to be trucked directly to the mill. This long-term contract will ensure quick delivery of the mined material to the mill to expedite processing in a timely manner facilitating a continuing assessment of the bulk mine test throughout the extraction process.

Operations continue moving forward with most of the equipment arriving in Kamloops to be marshalled for the 35-kilometre trip to the property. The mining contractor is on-site ensuring that the equipment is ready and that commencement of test mining will proceed smoothly.

Encore has the right to earn up to 60 per cent in the Bonaparte property by conducting the bulk sample and a proposed drilling program, which will enable the company to delineate the mineralization on the property.

This release has been reviewed by Laurence Stephenson, PEng, the designated qualified person.

July 07, 2009 ENCORE CHECKS MILLING SYSTEM FOR INITIAL 10,000 TONNE TEST BULK MINING AT BONAPARTE GOLD PROPERTY

Encore Renaissance Resources Corp. has been active in getting the Bonaparte gold property into test mining mode and has taken two 40-plus-kilogram samples from the veins for advance process testing at operating mill system and for a gravity separation test.

The testing by the mill is to determine if any additional processing or "tweaking" of the processing will be necessary to ensure full recovery of the estimated 20-plus grams per tonne gold that is expected to be in the test bulk sample. The gravity separation test is being done to see if an intermediate processing step in a full-scale operation is warranted.

Both tests will be completed in about a month's time which is anticipated to be around the time when the first portions of the bulk sample will be ready for processing. Mining equipment is in final preparation to comply with all regulatory requirements and will be moved on site to prepare the portal for the decline.

As well, company geologists will be on site to sample other veins in anticipation of selecting drill sites for the exploration drill program. Encore has the right to earn a 60-per-cent interest in the Bonaparte gold mine property by conducting the bulk sample and the proposed drill program, which will enable the company to delineate the mineralization on the property. This release has been reviewed by Laurence Stephenson, PEng, the designated qualified person. More at www. /www.encorerenaissance.com

International Wayside Gold Mines Ltd. The Board of Directors of International Wayside Gold Mines Ltd. (the "Company") announces prospecting assay results (see Table 1) from the Butts Zone which has defined the current stage of the 2009 exploration program, including diamond drilling at Wilf's Showing on Cow Mountain (which began July 8, 2009) and trenching along the B Road on and around the Butts Zone, which is about 2.3 km to the mine grid west of the BC Vein and proposed Bonanza Ledge mine on Barkerville Mountain.

Limited prospecting and exploration has been completed on the Butts Zone. Significant gold values returned from reconnaissance rock and channel sampling confirms the Butts Zone as one of the potential areas in the Company's Cariboo Gold Project for both quartz vein and replacement styles of gold mineralization.

Wilf's Showing in the Butts Zone is a large quartz vein outcrop with massive and semi-massive fine-grained pyrite, beside Lowhee Creek and Lowhee Fault on Cow Mountain. It is inferred that the quartz vein is possibly the mine grid west extension of the BC Vein (which is 305 m deep at the BC Shaft and has been drilled on 30.5 m centers for 1.23 km), offset by the Lowhee Fault. The Bonanza Ledge deposit and proposed mine was discovered in the footwall of the BC Vein which demonstrates the potential significance of Wilf's Showing. Both channel and chip rock samples collected from the Showing returned encouraging assays ranging between 13.6 and 21.6 g/T gold (Sample #30745-30746 and 104252-104253, see Table 1).

The purposes of the drill and trench programs on the Butts Zone are, to confirm whether this quartz vein is the mine grid west portion of the BC Vein (which would give it a 2.3 km strike length) offset by Lowhee Fault on Cow Mountain and to have a better understanding of the gold resource of both the quartz vein and replacement styles of mineralization on the Butts Zone. Once verified, it may be possible to find additional Bonanza Ledge style gold mineralization in the footwall of Wilf's Showing, beside Lowhee Creek on Cow Mountain.

Wayside is in the process of acquiring the QR Mine and 900 tonne per day QR Mill, which was fully operational until February 2009 (now on care and maintenance). The QR Mill is a CIP mill designed for an output of 70,000 ounces of gold per annum for that location. The mill is 110 km by road from Wayside's Cariboo Gold Project and proposed Bonanza Ledge Mine.

The Company initiated operations in the Cariboo District in 1994 and since that time has focused on the exploration and development of its gold properties. Mineral tenures in the Historic Cariboo Goldfields encompass approximately 1,065 square km (106,484 hectares) over a 60 km long by 20 km wide belt. In the Barkerville Gold Camp, 101 creeks have reported placer gold production. Recorded gold production from the area totals more than 3.8 million ounces, including an estimated 2.64 million ounces from placer mining and 1.23 million ounces from lode mining.

The technical information in this News Release has been reviewed and approved by Chief Geologist Jim Yin, PhD, P.Geo, a qualified person as defined in National Instrument

TERRANE METALS PROVIDES CORPORATE UPDATE

Terrane Metals Corp. has provided an update on the activities of the company. In December, 2008, the company announced a modified project execution plan for its 100-per-cent-owned Mt. Milligan project. Key objectives on the modified plan are to reduce project implementation risk, minimize continuing and near-term capital expenditures and to better position the project for a timely construction start-up. The modified plan is proceeding on budget and on schedule (see Terrane's press release in Stockwatch dated Dec. 8, 2008, for more details). Feasibility update study As part of the modified plan, Terrane initiated a feasibility update study to incorporate current capital and operating expenditures based on detail design work undertaken since completion of the March, 2008, feasibility study. Updated design work includes revisions to the tailings storage facility, power line, access road and engineering drawings for the 60,000-tonne-per-day process plant. In addition, reserves and mine design will be recalculated/revised using metal prices of $1.60 per pound copper and $690 per ounce gold; the March, 2008, feasibility study used prices of $1.60 per pound copper and $550 per pound gold.

The update study will be coordinated by Wardrop Engineering Inc. In addition to Wardrop, Terrane has appointed technical, engineering and finance specialists in ore reserve estimation and mine design, environmental and socio-economic studies, mineral processing and metallurgy, geotechnical, infrastructure and capital, and operating-cost estimation. The team includes Independent Mining Consultants Inc., AMEC Earth and Environmental, G&T Metallurgical Services Ltd., Knight Piesold Ltd. and Merit Consultants International Inc. Terrane expects that the update study will be completed in the fourth quarter of 2009. Exploration program Terrane has initiated a 70-line-kilometre induced polarity ground geophysical survey to investigate the numerous geophysical targets identified by the June, 2008, 1,452 line-kilometre airborne HeliGeotem magnetic-electromagnetic survey. Twelve of these targets are within four kilometres of the MBX and Southern Star deposits and display similar magnetic signatures. Results from the IP survey will be used to prioritize and guide future drilling programs as required. In conjunction with the IP program, field crews have been mobilized to conduct soil and stream geochemistry programs to expand upon and infill earlier surveys in the project area. Permitting As reported in Stockwatch news on March 19, 2009, the company announced receipt of an environmental assessment certificate from the Province of British Columbia for its Mt. Milligan project. Receipt of the EA certificate followed a comprehensive 180-day review led by the Province's Environmental Assessment Office. The company continues to work with provincial ministries on mine operating permits which are expected in the fourth quarter of 2009.

On May 15, 2009, the federal Minister of the Environment announced that the EA review of the Mt. Milligan project under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act will continue as a comprehensive study. The public comment period on Terrane's EA application concluded on June 23, 2009. Next steps in the federal EA process include the federal responsible authorities preparing a comprehensive study report, followed by a final public comment period on this report. A federal EA decision is expected in the fourth quarter of 2009.

Mining: Good neighbor and provider to the world

On June 24, 2009, the Nak'azdli First Nation from Fort St. James, B.C., filed a petition with the Supreme Court of British Columbia against the Province of British Columbia regarding the proposed development of the Mt. Milligan project. Terrane regrets the action taken by Nak'azdli and continues to have an open-door policy with the Nak'azdli community with respect to training, jobs and contracting opportunities. Berg project As reported in Stockwatch news on May 19, 2009, the company reported a 36-per-cent expansion of the resource at its Berg copper-molybdenum-silver project. The company has filed a National Instrument 43-101 technical report with SEDAR in support of the updated resource estimate. Metallurgical studies, including a five-tonne pilot plant to produce copper and molybdenum concentrates, and studies to investigate and optimize project development scenarios, are under way. Appointment of director and resignation of director

Terrane has appointed Timo Jauristo, AusIMM, vice-president, corporate development, of Goldcorp Inc., to the board of directors. Mr. Jauristo will replace Chuck Jeannes, president and chief executive officer of Goldcorp. Mr. Jeannes stated: "My time as a director afforded me the opportunity to observe and work closely with the Terrane board and management team. I remain confident that our investment in Terrane is in good hands and I look forward to the completion of the modified plan and update study in the fourth quarter of 2009."

Outlook

The modified plan is fully financed through a $40-million credit facility guaranteed by majority shareholder Goldcorp Inc. As of June 30, 2009, the company had drawn down $14.5-million from the credit facility and forecasts to draw down an additional $7.0-million by the end of 2009 to complete the modified plan.
