The M
essageFrom
his Excellency M
inister of Education
Dear teachers and students,
As education is the foundation of development, a key elem
ent in defining quality, relevance and effectiveness of education is its curriculum
. Our new
curriculum has been
shaped by
the desires
of our people for an
ideal future using
the latest advances
ineducation developm
ent. Our education system
and curricula should provide the type ofeducation that w
ill enable our future generations to build and Islamic society that is m
oral,m
odern and prosperous. Through widespread consultations, the M
inistry of Education hasattem
pted to come up w
ith content, structure, scope and sequence for various curricula thatw
ill equip our children and youths with values, know
ledge and skills that are essential forassisting the learners to becom
e positive and contributing mem
bers of their families and
their society. I am confident that the curriculum
development team
s of the Ministry of
Education tried hard to incorporate the latest developments in the science of learning,
educational psychology as well as m
ental, intellectual and emotional developm
ent ofchildren, as they developed the new
curriculum. It is m
y honor to assure our students, teachers and their fam
ilies that the school curriculum is not a m
eans for spreading politicalideologies.
I hope this textbook precisely represent our intentions and efforts to offer you the bestresource for learning and application. This book is designed to m
eet the learning needs ofthe pupils and facilitate active participation of students in learning and teaching processes.
I expect our teachers to apply the active teaching methods to engage all students and
carefully follow the Teacher’s G
uide to facilitate active learning. Teachers are required toprovide opportunities for all students to learn by doing; understand through discovery; useim
agination, thinking, creativity and take joy in instructional activities.
I also call on the guardians and parents of the students to take interest in the education oftheir daughters and sons, participate in school’s Shuras and turn learning into a daily fam
ilyroutine. Parents can both give by helping their children w
ith their studies and take bylearning from
the school curriculum through their children. R
aising our future generation isa joint responsibility of the fam
ilies and the Ministry of Education.
Ministry of Education is comm
itted to a constant improvem
ent of our curriculum;
therefore, I welcom
e parents, scholars and educationalists to provide us with feedback for
improving our curricula, textbooks and other resources m
aterial.
I wholeheartedly appreciate the hard w
ork of the authors, reviewers, editors, com
posers,designers and others w
ho participated in preparation this textbook. I am also grateful to the
support of the institutions and experts, national and international and donors for supportingthe process and especially printing and distribution of our textbooks.
May A
