OCCUPATIONAL FIRST AID COURSE

(OFAC)

An Essential Skill That Can Save A Life

HOW IS IT ASSESSED? Participants will be assessed through a written examination and practical examination on bandaging of wounds, CPR and AED. Upon successful completion, candidates will be awarded a certificate from KBA Training Centre Pte Ltd ~ approved by Ministry of Manpower which is valid for 3 years; CPR+AED certificate is approved by National Resuscitation Council (Singapore) - valid for 2 years.

COURSE OVERVIEW This is a mandatory training course for the occupational first aider. This course is ideal to supplement workplace training where potential risks such as incidents, illnesses or trauma and supplemental oxygen is highly desirable. It is aimed to train individuals to render first-aid treatment to the casualty during an emergency or accident in the workplace until more advanced medical assistance can be obtained.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS? There are six essential skill sets required for the OFAC in order to apply first aid at the workplace. The focus is to correctly identify the patient’s condition and apply first aid immediately to save life or stabilise the situation. These skills must be demonstrated and practiced during the course. At the end of the training, participants will be competent in the following skills:

Handling and evacuating of an injured person

Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

COMPRESSED AIR WORKS COURSE

(MAN-LOCK ATTENDANT)

COURSE OVERVIEW

The CAWC (Man-Lock Attendant) is a mandatory five day training course for individuals who are assigned to work in compressed air (CA) environment. It covers the WSH Act and subsidiary legislations applicable to compressed air works; compressed air illness (decompression illnesses and Dysbaric Osteonecrosis) and Barotrauma; hyperbaric physics; chamber operations; control measures for CAW and oxygen first aid procedures.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

State the WSH Act and subsidiary legislation governing compressed air works (CAW).

List the roles and responsibilities of a Man-Lock Attendant and assess the suitability of workers to enter the compressed air (CA) environment.

Describe the symptoms of compressed air illness and barotraumas.

Calculate air pressure for CAW.

Carry out compression of personnel before entering into compressed air (CA) environment.

Identify fire hazards and use the fire extinguisher in tunneling and CAW.

Carry out decompression of personnel who are leaving CA environment.

Maintain a lock attendant register including health declaration form for all compressed air workers and report all workers with symptoms of Decompression Illnesses (DCI) and barotraumas.

associated with compression, decompression and compressed air illnesses and with the keeping of records under these regulations.

RIGGER AND SIGNALMAN COURSE

COURSE OVERVIEW

The Rigger and Signalman Course is aimed at providing individuals with the knowledge and skills to prepare and to secure the load for safe lifting, lifting equipment and use of

correct and clear signals to guide the crane operator in the manoeuvering of a load safely. This is a mandatory course in line with Workplace Safety and Health (Operation of Cranes)

Regulations. The training will be held at our purpose built indoor training facility.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES


Describe the legislative requirements for safe lifting operation.

List the duties of the Rigger and Signalman in lifting operation.

Participate in toolbox meeting (Rigger only).

Ascertain weight of load and determine centre of gravity (Signalman only).

Conduct pre-lift inspection of crane, lifting gears and accessories and serviceability check on communication equipment.

Practise good housekeeping of communication equipment, crane, lifting gear and accessories.

Select and use the appropriate rigging equipment, lifting gears and accessories (Rigger only).

Rig and direct load to destination with safe lifting (Rigger only).

Check and verify load is properly rigged (Signalman only).

Apply 3-step lifting and lowering method to comply with safe work procedures for lifting operation.

Check for blind spots and estimate clearance of swing path with cordon-off of lifting and lowering area (Signalman only).

Identify hazards related to lifting operation.

Respond to lifting accident and emergencies.

Set up communications for safe lifting operation (Signalman only).

Communicate lifting instructions using standard hand and voice signals (signalman only).

HOW IS IT ASSESSED?

The course is assessed by a 1-hour written test (40 multiple choice questions) and a 4.5 hours practical assessment. Participants with 100% attendance and successfully

completed / passed both the practical and written assessments, will be awarded the Rigger and Signalman certificate issued by KBA Training Centre Pte Ltd ~ Approved by Ministry of Manpower (MOM) Singapore.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

The course would be appropriate for individuals assigned as Rigger

and/or Signalman in the workplace.

DURATION

21 hrs including 5.5 hrs of

assessment comprising Written Test (1 hr) and Practical

Performance (4.5 hrs).

Workplace literacy and numeracy Level 2 or equivalent. At least six

CONSTRUCTION SAFETY ORIENTATION COURSE (CSOC) FOR WORKERS COURSE OVERVIEW

The CSOC is a mandatory WSH training course for all workers working in the construction industry. Construction workers are required to go through the CSOC before they start work at the worksite. The WSH Act subsidiary legislation Factories (Safety Training Courses) Order para 2 The Schedule (1) stipulates that “Any worker employed in manual labour to carry out construction work in building and engineering construction worksites must undergo a safety and health training course approved by the Commissioner for Workplace Safety and Health.” COURSE OBJECTIVES


Recognise the common safety hazards at construction sites.

Know the preventive measures to be adopted.

Knowledge and skills in working at height.

Understand the importance of observing safety signs and safe work procedures.

Know their rights and responsibilities.

COURSE CONTENT

This is in compliance to WSH (Work at Heights) Regulations 2013 which states “It shall be the duty of the responsible person of any person who carries out or is to carry out any work at height to ensure that the person shall work at height in a workplace under the immediate supervision of a competent person for that work.”

Participants must possess Work-At-Height for Supervisors

HOW IS IT ASSESSED?

The course is assessed by a 2-hr written test comprising 10

short answer questions and 1 essay question. Theory

Examination passing mark is 75% and any participant who fails to meet the minimum passing mark requirement shall be required to

re-attend the entire course.

Participants with 100% attendance and successfully

completed / passed the written assessment, shall be issued with

a Certificate of Attainment ~ Approved by Ministry of Manpower Singapore.

COURSE OVERVIEW The aim of the course is to provide participants with the requisite WAH knowledge and management tools/processes to supervise and manage work at height activities, so that they are carried out properly and safely.

COURSE OBJECTIVES At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

This course is mainly for personnel with supervisory

and management responsibilities over WAH

Theory 10 hours and Written Assessment 2.5-hr (Total 12.5 hours)

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Language proficiency, recommend WPLN Level 6 and above or equivalent for

English language.

HOW IS IT ASSESSED?

The course is assessed by a 2.5-hr written test comprising 10 short answer questions and

1 essay question. Theory Examination passing mark is 75% and any participant who fails to meet the minimum passing mark requirement shall be required to

re-attend the entire course.
