Our faith is in the Resurrection of Jesus. The three readings for today proclaim that Jesus rose from the dead. This event has consequences for all, for it is a historical event, a fulfillment of prophecy and an invitation for new life. In the end, our faith is an encounter with Jesus who rose from the dead. And that encounter heals us from our sins.

EASTER SUNDAY

Catholic Ministries Annual Appeal

Thank you to everyone who has already made a pledge to the 2018 Catholic Ministries Annual Appeal (CMAA). Your

gifts will benefit so many through the thirty ministries our annual appeal supports.

Our parish’s goal for the 2018 CMAA is $32,100GOAL. Our hope is that every parishioner will contribute as partners in

caring, as every gift — large and small — makes a difference. If we raise more than our goal, 70% of the amount paid over

goal will be returned to us for our use. This is an amazing opportunity for our parish!

Please prayerfully reflect on your pledge to this year’s CMAA. In-pew envelopes are still available in the church, or you can

make a gift online at jolietdioceseappeal.org.

CONFIRMATION MEETING

There will be mandatory meetings for those who are in their second year of preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Who should be at the meeting? The students of the Religious Education Program who will celebrate their Confirmation this year and at least one of their par-ents/guardians and their sponsor. There are two options to attend. The same material will be presented at each bilingual meeting held in the gym and will last approximately 2 hours.

Option #1: Friday, April 13 6:00-8:00pm

Option #2: Saturday, April 14 9:00-11:00am

The students of the Religious Education Program who will celebrate their First Holy Communion this year and at least one of their parents/guardians and their sponsor (if they choose to have them for this sacrament). Option #2: Saturday, April 21 9:00-11:00am

IMMIGRATION: EVENING WITH THE DIOCESE

The Diocese of Joliet Office of Peace and Social Justice presents “Action Nights: An Evening of Interaction, Reaction, and Action.” On Thursday, April 12 at 7:00pm the topic will be “Action: Immigration” and will be held at Embers Tap in Lockport. Cost is $3 entry for food and first drink.

The Diocese of Joliet and Fishers of Men will host a series of Catholic sports camps “where skills are sharpened and faith comes alive!”

Campaña Anual de Ministerios Católicos 2018

Gracias a todos los que ya han hecho una promesa a la Campaña Anual de Ministerios Católicos 2018 (CMAA). Sus donaciones beneficiarán a tantos a través de los treinta ministerios que respalda nuestra apelación anual. El objetivo de nuestra parroquia para el CMAA 2018 es $ 32,100. Nuestra esperanza es que cada feligrés contribuya como socios en el cuidado, ya que cada regalo, grande o pequeño, hace la diferencia. Si recaudamos más que nuestra meta, se nos devolverá el 70% del monto pagado sobre el objetivo para nuestro uso. ¡Esta es una oportunidad increíble para nuestra parroquia! La Oficina de Paz y Justicia Social de la Diócesis de Joliet presenta "Noches de Acción: una noche de interacción, reacción y acción". El jueves 12 de abril a las 7:00 pm, el tema será "Acción: Inmigración" y se llevará a cabo en Embers Tap en Lockport. El costo es $ 3 por entra-da para la comida y primera bebida.

HAPPY EASTER!!

Some may think that Easter is only today – Easter Sun-day. It’s not. Easter for us as Christians is a period of 50 days; called EASTERTIDE. This began last night at sunset and will end on Pentecost when we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit as well as the birth of the Church. Easter is so much more than a celebration of the resur-rection of Jesus. In the early church, the season of Lent was for new converts to learn about the faith and to prepare for being bap-tized on Easter Sunday. Initially, the purpose of the 50-day Easter season was to continue the faith formation period of new Chris-tians. Today’s experience of Eastertide, is a time for us to re-joice and experience what it means when we say ‘Christ is risen’. This is the season we remember our baptisms, and how through the sacrament we are, according to the liturgy, “incorporated into Christ’s mighty acts of salvation.” We also celebrate and take time to reflect on the birth of the Church and the gifts of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost, and just how we are to live as faithful Disci-ples of Christ. This season is the greatest feast of the year for Christ is risen! The ALLELUIA, which was omitted from the mass dur-ing lent, has returned triumphantly as our gospel acclamation, as well as in texts of the resurrection songs we sing. The Paschal candle remains lit in the Sanctuary until Ascension Thursday, and we once again sing in celebration GLORY TO GOD! ¡¡FELICES PASCUAS!! Algunos pueden pensar que la Pascua es solo hoy, el Domingo de Pascua. No lo es. La Pascua para nosotros como cristianos es un período de 50 días; llamado EASTERTIDE. Esto comenzó anoche al atardecer y finalizará el día de Pentecostés cuando celebremos el don del Espíritu Santo y el nacimiento de la Iglesia. La Pascua es mucho más que una celebración de la resurrección de Jesús. En la iglesia primitiva, el tiempo de la Cuaresma era para que los nuevos conversos aprendieran sobre la fe y se prepararan para bautizarse el domingo de Pascua. Inicial-mente, el propósito de la temporada de 50 días de Pascua era con-tinuar el período de formación de fe de los nuevos cristianos. La experiencia de hoy de Eastertide, es un momento para que nos regocijemos y experimentemos lo que significa cuando decimos 'Cristo ha resucitado'. Esta es la temporada en que recor-damos nuestros bautismos, y cómo a través del sacramento, de acuerdo con la liturgia, "incorporados en los poderosos actos de salvación de Cristo". También celebramos y tomamos tiempo para reflexionar sobre el nacimiento de la Iglesia y los dones del Espíri-tu Santo en Pentecostés, y cómo debemos vivir como fieles Discí-pulos de Cristo. ¡Esta temporada es la celebración más grande del año porque Cristo resucitó! El ALLELUIA, que se omitió en la Misa durante la Cuaresma, ha regresado triunfalmente como nuestra aclamación del evangelio, así como en los textos de las canciones de resurrección que cantamos. La vela Pascual permanece encen-dida en el Santuario hasta el Jueves de Ascensión, y una vez más cantamos en celebración ¡GLORIA A DIOS!
