9. ELECTION- God determined from the beginning to save all who should comply with the conditions of salvation. Hence by faith in Christ men

become His elect. II Timothy 2:4.

10. FREEDOM OF THE WILL- The human will is free and self controlled having the power to yield to the influence of the truth and the

spirit or to resist them and perish. J oshua 24: 15.

11 . SALVATION FREE- God desires the salvation of all, the Holy Spirit strives with all, and whosoever will may come and take of the water of life

14. TITHING- God commanded tithes and offerings in the Old Testament; Jesus Christ endorsed it in the Gospel (Matthew 23: 23) and the apostle Paul said, "Upon the first day of the week, let every one lay by him in

store, as God hath prospered him" I Corinthians 16:2a.

15. THE CHRISTIAN SABBATH-The Divine law requires that one day in seven be set apart from secular employment and amusement for rest, worship, holy works and activities, and for personal communion with God.

16. RESURRECTION, JUDGMENT AND FINAL RETRIBUTION-The Scriptures teach the resurrection of all men at the last day. RULES OF DECORUM

1. After an introductory sermon is preached, the association shall be called to order by the moderator who presided over the last session. In case of his absence, the assistant moderator shall call the body to order, the former clerk also officiating until organized.

2. This body shall be composed of all ministers, deacons, church clerks, and delegates present from each church.

3. The officers of the association shall consist of a moderator, assistant moderator, clerk and assistant clerk, to be chosen from the members present.

4. It shall be the duty of the moderator to preside over the body during the session at which he is elected, to call the next session to order and to preside until reorganized and the election and installation of his successor. It shall be his duty to keep order, enforce the rules of decorum and decide all questions, discipline, and in case of a tie vote, to cast the deciding. ballot. He may speak on any subject but must call on the assistant moderator to preside while he is speaking.

5. It shall be the duty of the clerk to keep the minutes of the proceedings and to read them when called upon by the body. The clerk shall prepare the minutes for publication.

6. Each church is entitled to three delegates. 7. A majority of the members shall rule in all cases. 8. No member shall absent himself from the house without the consent of

the moderator. 9. All business shall be brought before the body by the business committee

and shall be disposed of by vote of the body. 10. No person shall be allowed to speak more than twice on the same subject,

nor more than ten minutes each time, without permission of the moderator.

11. No brother shall be interrupted while speaking unless he departs from the subject under discussion or uses words of personal reflection.

12. Only one person shall be allowed to speak at a time and he must arise and address the moderator.

13. No business shall be voted on without the whole delegation is present 14. This decorum may be altered, amended or abridged at any session of the

association by a majority vote of members present. 15. The minister who receives the most votes shall be moderator and the next

highest, assistant moderator. 16. We recommend that all preachers and churches coming from other

associations or denominations, be examined by a committee before being received into the body.

17. We recommend that we correspond and ask correspondence with other associations.

18. We recommend that all ministers and deacons attend or represent by letter before recetvmg a certificate of standing, and that this be strictly enforced.

Proceedings F RIDAY MORNING

The service convened with Bro. Joe Martin leading in song, " What A Friend We Have In Jesus." Sis. Bonnie Banks was at the piano. Bro . Ira Hanks, the preceeding assistant m oderator , took charge of the service in

' . absence of the preceding moderator, Bro. Jesse Drummo nd . He read fro m the 133rd Psalm and led in prayer. The preceding clerk declared the body in order for business. Due t o the absence of most o f the ordained men, it was moved and second by proper vot e to omit the Creden tials Committee and elect a Reading Committee. Letters were read and excepted by proper vote. All delegates were seated . Bro. T .E. Yarbrough was elected as new moderator to convene in this sessio n of business. Bro. I ra Hanks was retained as assistant moderat or. The preceding clerk and assistant clerk were retained for t heir posit ion . An altar p rayer was led by Bro. McNiese and followed by a sh ort recess. After recess Bro. Hanks led the congregation in song, "Amazing Grace." The Devotional Committee elected Bro. Joe Martin to de liver the 11 o'clock message. His message was from the 22nd chapter of Ezek iel, 30th verse. His subject, "Standing in the Gap." He made comment on how sin was entering our churches and associations, and how we should be willing to take the stand for the cause of Christ. He gave an inspiring message. The Moderator suggested that since there was not enough of the body present to elect committees and carry on business, that the meeting be dismissed at the lunch hour until Saturday. Bro. Russell Lawrence dismissed in prayer.

SATURDAY MORNING

The service convened with the Moderator in charge. Sis. Louis Barnett leading the congregation in song, with Sis. Dorothy Foster at the piano. Bro. Ira Hanks led in prayer. The Moderator recited words from a beautiful song, and commented on how people should look to God for all things. The letters from the churches absent Friday were read. Bro. Gene Dawson made move to accept the letters as read, and Bro. Harold Latta second. All committees were elected and reieased. Bro. and Sis. Clyde Hood sang specials, "It Will Be Worth It," and " I Don't Tell It Enough." Sis. Louis Barnett and Sis. Dorothy Foster led the congregation in song, followed with a short recess. The service reconvened with everyone taking part in altar prayer. The Devotional Committee elected Bro. Gene Dawson to deliver the 11 o'clock message. The scripture reading from the 7th chapter of Matthew the 21st verse. The subject was "The Wise Man That Builds His House on a Rock." Everyone enjoyed the wonderful message. With Sis. Dorothy Foster leading in song, accompanied by Bro. Marlin Hodgens at piano. Bro Dawson asked that each one come shake Bro. Hanks hand in appreciation to the work that he has started on the Camp Ground. Bro. Clyde Hood, in absence of the pastor of the church gave invitation to each one for lunch. Service was dismissed by Bro. Harold Latta.

SATURDAY NOON

Service reconvened with Bro. Clyde Hood leading the congregation in song. Bro. Martin Hodgens at the Piano. The daughter of Bro. Hood sang a special "I Can Almost See The Lights Of Home," which was enjoyed by all, and foJiowed by a beautiful song by Sis. Linda Hodgens. The reports from the committees were reJd and accepted by proper vote as follows; The Sunday School Commlttee report was voted on by Bro. Dawson, and seconded by Bro. Latta. The Devotional Committee by Bro. Hanks and seconded by Bro. Jacks. The Deceased Committee by Bro. Hanks and seconded by Bro. Latta. The Auditing Committee by Bro. Latta and seconded by Bro. Dawson. The Temperance Committee by Bro. Hood and seconded by Bro. Hanks. The Business Committee was voted on to dispose of item by item by Bro. Latta and seconded by Bro. Bood. The first item of business was voted on by Bro. Hood and seconded by Bro. Dawson. The second item by Bro. Dawson and seconded by Bro. Hood. The third item by Bro. Latta and seconded by Bro. Dawson. fhe fourth item by Bro. Dawson and seconded by Bro. Jacks. Motion to release the Business Committee was made by Bro. Latta and seconded by Bro. Hodgens. Motion to release other committees were. made and seconded by Bro. Latta and Bro. Jacks. Bro. Latta made move to retain Bro. Clyde Hood as trustee to Children's Home. Bro. Hood gave a short repon on the home. and a offenng of $22.46 was taken for the home. A standmg ovJtiOn was given for the ladies of the church that served such wonderful lunches both days. Motion to adjourn was by Bro. Latta. Bro Cox dismiSSl'd m prayer.

Auditing: We, the auditing committee find the clerk's books in complete order.

Temperance: We, the Temperance Committee believe in refraining from high temper, and let our conversation be holy at all times, and refraining from anything that easily besets us.

Sunday School:. We, the Sunday School Committee recommend that each church use Free Will Baptist literature if not already using it. We recommend that each one bring their Bibles and be there on time.

Deceased : We, the Deceased Committee are happy to report no deaths in the Birmingham Association during the past year.

Business: No. 1- We recommend the association meet Friday night, Saturday, and Saturday night , instead of Friday and Saturday. No. 2-We recommend that Bro. Hanks be given permission to repair and add on to the cabin at the camp ground at his own expense. But, if the association fails to build the church and sells the property, he will be reimbursed for all his expense. No. 3- We recommend that the Moderator appoint a man on building Committee in Bro. Jim Drummond 's place. No. 4- We recommend that the letters from each church be read and adopted by the body as before.
