Michelle Lynn Brien (Ensemble) Michelle is absolutely thrilled to be involved in this production of Miss Saigon, a powerful show that she has loved for a very long time. Recent credits include the villainous Milady de Winter in The Three Musketeers at UW-Waukesha, Lucy Westenra in Dracula at Old World Wisconsin, and Feste the Fool in WCT’s Twelfth Night. Thanks to Mark E. and Brian and this fantastic cast and crew for being so amazing, and thank you to all of our armed service members who keep us safe and ensure us the freedom to follow our dreams.
Josh Brooks (Ensemble) Josh made his fi rst theatrical performance after more than a ten-year absence last year dur-ing WCT’s production of Twelfth Night. Tod Herdt (Ensemble) Tod is thrilled to be back at WCT after his last appear-ance way back in 2009 in The Light in the Piazza. This show has proven to be a bit of a challenge for him though. As a self-processed “disliker of musicals” (though only WATCHING them, he loves being in them - fi gure THAT one out), the lack of dialogue has been a bit overwhelming at times but the won-derful songs and music have won him
over. Tod has performed with several groups in the area including the Village Playhouse of Wauwatosa, West Allis Players, and Theatre on Main in Ocono-mowoc. He was last seen in VPW’s children’s show The Land of the Dragon as Road Wanderer. He would like to thank the marvelous cast and crew for making this an excellent adventure!
Evan Huang (Thuy) Evan is excited to be cast here at WCT. He just gradu-ated from the American Musical and Dramatic Acadamy in NYC (2011) and the National Taiwan University of Art (2009). DIRECTOR ’S NOTES
I’ve been listening to the MISS SAIGON soundtrack for close to 20 years, and now getting the chance to direct this show is truly an ‘American Dream’ come true for me! I love this show! The music is so full of emotion and the range of feeling is immense – there is happiness, pain, desperation, love, longing, pride and pure joy.
In preparing for this show I studied a lot about the Vietnam War to understand these characters and their place in the world at that time. What I ultimately learned is that this really is a simple story set against a backdrop of extraordinary and terrible circumstances. It is a story about love. Chris meets Kim and everything suddenly makes sense for the fi rst time in a long time. Their instant attraction and love for one another cannot be explained, it simply is. Love is what this story is all about – Kim’s love for her ‘husband’ and her son, Chris’ love for Kim and Ellen, Ellen’s love for her husband, Thuy’s love for his country, John’s devotion to the ‘bui doi’ and the Engineer’s dream of what he believes America will do for him. How far they are willing to go to see that love realized and their dreams fulfi lled is a question we will answer in the next two hours or so.
Everyone I’ve had the privilege of working with on this production has been in-credible! There is no end to the talent required to pull off a show of this size and I am continually amazed by the people I’ve been able to collaborate with. All of the cast have been completely devoted, focused and hilarious! Our production staff is creative, resourceful, diligent and always indulgent of my crazy ideas and requests (at least to my face). This month marks the 20th anniversary of my working with WCT and 20 years of working with our costume designer, Sharon Sohner who has taught me that real friendship is one of the most important ways that we can love one another. Thank you, dear friend.
I hope that MISS SAIGON will entertain you, move you and make you want to go out into the world and do what you can to make the lives of those around you a little nicer, a little more comfortable and fi lled with love. I believe it shows us that even in the most desperate of circumstances, that spark of hope and connection is still possible.
Gee, I love the theatre.

SPOTLIGHT ON THE BOARD OF D IRECTORS
Many of you are regular attendees to the Waukesha Civic Theatre, hopefully season ticket holders. Thus you are aware of the very high quality of performances that are presented throughout the season.
If you are here for the fi rst time and enjoy the excellent perfor-mance of the actors and actresses, please consider upgrading to a fl ex pass or even becoming a season ticket holder. You
will receive a discount on all of the wonderful performances yet to be presented.
If you like comedy, the Comedy Tonight events are great for a fun night out and it beats what you will get on television. Check out our website or pick up a fl yer in the theatre’s lobby.
Tell your friends about the great shows we have at the Waukesha Civic Theatre. Get a group of friends or neighbors together, have dinner downtown, and then come and enjoy a show. We can only continue this high quality of entertainment if we fi ll the seats.
Please note that the cost to attend WCT is far below other venues, but the value is worthy of attending. Our performers are not paid and only seek your applause for work well done.
That said, now sit back and enjoy the very dramatic musical “Miss Saigon,” winner of eleven Tony Awards, on our Waukesha Civic Theatre stage!

M AD CORNER
“Miss Saigon? Really? You’ve got to be kidding me? How are you going to pull that off?” I can’t tell you how many times I have heard this since we announced our season last year. My answer has always been “Mark E. Schuster, that’s how!” Mark has been a part of the WCT family of directors and designers for twenty years, and I wouldn’t trust this show to anyone else. I am so excited to present this incredible musical to the Waukesha community I can barely stand it. I hope you like it!
We are also announcing our 56th season, including a brand new eight show pack-age, and a partnership with 14 downtown Waukesha restaurants that are giving WCT subscribers an incredible deal all year long. We continue our tradition of quality live entertainment with a list of more than 40 different entertainment options throughout the year. We hope you will continue to support us as we move into the future.
One way, and arguably the best way, to support WCT is to spread the word about Waukesha’s best kept secret. It always amazes me when I meet someone in Waukesha who has no idea what a fantastic organization we have right here in the heart of the community. Tell people about what we do and all we offer.
Enrich. Challenge. Entertain. That says it all, so keep watching, keep participating with, and keep supporting this cultural cornerstone. We couldn’t do it without you.

PlayMakers production is geared to our elementary students, and the spring production is produced for middle school students. While offered primar-ily to school groups, these family-friendly shows are great for public, private, and home school groups, Boy and Girl Scout troops, senior centers, and your family! Please call (262) 547-0708 for ticket prices and information. PlayMakers rehearse and perform in the daytime, and are always looking for new actors and technical personnel.
ACCESSIBILITY The Margaret Brate Bryant Civic Theatre Building is fully handicapped-accessible, and WCT is proud to offer a number of services for our patrons who have special needs (a four-week notice is required and services are based upon availability). For
the hearing impaired we have a T-Coil Loop System, T-Coil Listening Devices, and FM listening devices that will amplify
the sounds of the performance. Patrons must have hearing aids with telecoils installed and activated to use the Loop System. Patrons who are blind can receive audio descriptive services for the performance. Wheelchair accessibility is available in two forms: transfer seats and wheelchair positions.
