Mission Committee Update!

Each month the Mission Committee will be updating Skyline on various missions that receive funds through the Mission Fund. This month we are highlighting the mission effort in Haiti, Live Beyond.

Who is involved from Skyline in this mission effort? Though not a complete list, the following people have been involved with these trips at lease once: David and Cathy Burleson, Michael and Sarah Pierce, Dave and Teresa McCuiston, David and Pat Russel, Mark and Carolyn Steiner, Debbie Pendergrass, Mona Chambers, Phyllis Darby, Drew Blackstock, Wes Broadway, Ray Goode, Will Burleson, Lauren Chambers Hunt, and Andrew Hardee.

What type of services are done on these trips? The people’s needs are served through medical care, teaching, serving, feeding, and supporting the work that has already been established by the Vanderford’s in this area of Haiti.

How has the Lord been blessed? The hungry are fed, the sick are treated, the gospel is preached, and the children are educated. All of this is done in the name of the Lord and has brought many to know Him and be baptized.

How has this ministry impacted the lives of those who have served? Priorities have been changed, eyes have been opened to see Jesus in those we serve. “If you do it for the least of these, you do it for me.”

What are the prayer needs for Live Beyond? Please pray that those who are working on a daily basis don’t tire out or become overwhelmed with the needs of the people.

What are the future plans/opportunities for this ministry? Skyline is committed, along with several Skyline members personally, to this ministry. Prayer, as always, is the number 1 need. Also, members are needed to be a part of a mission team to Live Beyond. If interested in this mission effort, contact David and Cathy Burleson.

A message from the Skyline Mission Committee

The generosity of the Skyline church will allow the thirsty to receive water, the hungry to be fed, the children to be educated, the sick to be healed, and the homeless to receive shelter. All of this is done in the name of Jesus so that people will hear and be invited to follow Him.

The mission committee set a very lofty goal of increasing the December 2016 contribution over that of previous years. The reason for this is based on the opportunity to reach the lost and the financial burden of making this happen. As the committee hears from many different mission organizations and listens to the initiatives, the need for financial support is very evident.

Further, Jesus sets our example for sacrifice. 2 Corinthians 8:9 says, “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.” (NIV). We have the financial means to assist in spreading the gospel where others can find the riches of salvation. It is important that we give so others may become rich.

With over $160,000 given in December 2016’s special mission contribution, the mission committee has worked diligently and prayerfully asking for wisdom on how best to allocate these funds. Each month an insert will be placed in the bulletin highlighting some of the mission efforts that received some of these funds.

Praise God for your generosity!
