I want you to have your best summer yet! Have a great vacation, and especially, have a great time with
your family and friends. However, I hope one of the reasons this summer will be your best yet is be-
cause your faith is going to grow like crazy. Remember I’ve been saying in church that I haven’t seen
anywhere in the Bible that says, “thou shalt take the summers off.” As a result, we have plenty planned
for you to grow your faith, fellowship and discipleship this summer. Make sure you read this newslet-
ter to find out more about worship, service, fellowship and fun at FPC this summer! You can also
check our website and Facebook page too for more information. Let’s keep this momentum going!

Abundant Life Soup Kitchen
We will serve together again at the soup kitchen on Tuesday, June 20th,
from 10:30 a.m.. - 1:00 p.m. We will serve again on Tuesday, July 18th. If
you haven’t tried this yet, it is a great opportunity to serve in our commu-
nity with the love of Christ and also get the word out about who we are.
Look for sign ups in the Narthex or call the church office.
Rushton’s Hope is BACK!
Rushton’s Hope has moved to its new
location off of Experiment Street. We will
serve again on Saturday, June 3rd.
Please plan on joining us to serve
a meal, “man” the clothes closet
and talk to people about Jesus! Sign ups will
be available in the Narthex starting April 16th.
Mission Changers for June: Habitat for Humanity
We will have two Habitat days in June. The first is June 3rd from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Lunch is in-
cluded. Come for all or part of the day. We will be putting trusses on a roof. You don’t have to
go high though. There will be work for everyone. We are also looking at June 24th so mark
your calendar. More info on that coming soon. Sign ups in the Narthex.
Here’s a quote: “Thank you for your continuing financial support of Griffin Area
Habitat for Humanity. Your recent donation will be used to buy material for a house
we are rehabbing in East Griffin. We have also just started building a new house, if
anyone is interested in helping, let me know.” – Mark Staples (Executive Director)

Jesus said “Go”, so let’s GO! Here are some opportunities to serve together with
unconditional “agape” love (sign ups in the Narthex or just call the church office):
Cereal Sunday
The first Sunday of each month, FPC Griffin has the honor to participate in "CEREAL SUNDAY". We ask members to bring bags or boxes of dry ce-real and place in the grocery cart located in the Narthex, near the wing of the Children's hall. This FOOD PANTRY ministry allows many poor and homeless individuals a nu-
tritious meal that can either be eaten dry or with milk. Bring cereal on June 4th and July 2nd.
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD SHOEBOXES
1) The suggested donation for each shoebox is now $9. 2) No candy or toothpaste is to be put in the shoeboxes.
(What you save on not buying candy and toothpaste can go toward the in-creased processing donation…)
DON’T FORGET TO LOOK FOR SHOEBOX ITEMS ALL YEAR!!
Young Lives Thank You!
Thanks to those who helped with our Young Lives mission
in May. We raised over $200 on May 14th. Also, several of
us enjoyed putting on a cookout for the young moms too.
Mission Changers for July: Rushton’s Hope
We will serve a meal and in the clothes closet on Sat. June 3rd from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Also, we will have a chance to mingle with and share God’s love with the folks we meet. There will be
a Rushton’s Hope Block Party on Sat. July 22nd where we will run games and serve for the
community. Finally, we will Cook, deliver and serve the Saturday meal on Sat. July 29th. Sign ups will be in the Narthex.

Youth
The best week of the summer is fast approaching!! Sports Camp 2017!!! I can’t wait to minister
to all these amazing kids and families with all of you. Just a refresher, the date for Sports Camp
is June 12-15 from 6pm-8pm. Of course we need your help!!! There is a spot for everyone at
Sports Camp. This year is easier then ever to help out,
because it is going to be right here on our church campus.
Which makes it even more important to have a great
showing from our members during the week. It is a great
chance to show love and care for the families we are trying
to attract to our amazing church. I truly believe that when
these families meet Jesus and you here during Sports
Camp they will be back!! Let’s do this together First Pres!!!
You can call me in the office at 770.227.2055 or on my cell
at 770.500.5143 or email at [email protected].
Remember it is not about the sports, its about Jesus.
So if you know Jesus, then you are perfect for Sports Camp!!
BaseCamp- RENEWED- July 17-21
I am so excited about BaseCamp this summer!! This is year three,
but it feels like a brand new year because we had to move loca-
tions. We loved our time at Norman Park, but God had different
plans for 2017. Our new location is at Rock Eagle in Eatonton, GA,
and we could not be more excited about it. I think it is only fitting,
that our theme this year is RENEWED. The camp experience is
going to be renewed because it is a totally new place. In many
ways God is calling all of us to new places in our walk with him: A new way of looking at our
world, how we interact as disciples of Jesus with our neighbors, and how we approach our
relationship with God. It says in Mark 12: 29-31, “The Lord your God is one; so love the
Lord with all your passion and prayer and intelligence and energy. And here is the second:
Love others as well as you love yourself.” This summer, BaseCamp will challenge our stu-
dents to be RENEWED in their passion towards God, in their prayer life, in their minds, and
be strengthened to stand. Finally, there will be a challenge to be RENEWED in their mis-
sion towards the circles of influence in which God has placed them.
Please join me in prayer for all the students and leaders at BaseCamp. If you have any
questions, feel free to ask. If you would like information about helping sponsor a student or
college leader to attend camp please come by the office. I can’t wait to see how God is go-
ing to change lives and hearts this summer.

Remember!
This summer, beginning with the first Sunday in June and ending with the last Sunday in July, Sunday school will begin at 9:30 so church can begin at 10:30!
Some of our adult Sunday school classes will be combining, but the children's classes will remain the same.
Summer in Hope Town
Life may move at a slower pace in the balmy days of summer, but that doesn't mean we won't be digging into the treasures of God's Word. June and July will find us in the Psalms.
In June, we will dive into the cool, still waters of Psalm 23 and examine what it means to be sheep of Jesus, the Great Shepherd. Because we are His sheep, we need never want or fear. We need never be restless. He restores our souls and leads us into Light and Life.
In July, we'll spend some time under the big sky stargazing and considering the wonders of God's creation. We'll also explore how God feels about us.
What does it mean to revere God's name? What is our place in God's creation? How should we respond to our loving Creator God?
July Church-wide Memory Verse
Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth. You have set your glory in the heavens.

New Members Gathering
The Congregational Care Ministry hosted the New Member Gathering, May 17, at the beautiful home of
Tim and Becki Brown. Pastor Drew, Seth and Session members welcomed Frank Taylor; Doug, Rachel
and Drew Tingle; Joel and Nikki Hemphill; and Becki Brown into our church family. We all enjoyed won-
derful food and fellowship. Thank you Tim and Becki!

Thanks to a great Facilities' Team and the extras ( Karen K., Debbie H., Bill B., Drew .) who volunteered to spruce up the outside of the church. It was a cool day to work, and I think we made a small dent with our efforts! Hope to see you all in June as we prepare for our Sports' Camp.
