GOD OUR FATHER, WE GIVE YOU THANKS AND PRAISE FOR FATHERS YOUNG AND OLD. WE PRAY FOR YOUNG FATHERS, NEWLY EM-BRACING THEIR VOCATION; MAY THEY FIND COURAGE AND PERSEVERANCE TO BALANCE WORK, FAMILY AND FAITH IN JOY AND SAC-RIFICE. WE PRAY FOR OUR OWN FATHERS AROUND THE WORLD WHOSE CHILDREN ARE LOST OR SUFFERING; MAY THEY KNOW THAT THE GOD OF COMPASSION WALKS WITH THEM IN THEIR SORROW. WE PRAY FOR MEN WHO ARE NOT FATHERS BUT STILL MENTOR AND GUIDE US WITH FA-THERLY LOVE AND ADVICE. WE REMEMBER FATHERS, GRANDFATHERS, AND GREAT GRANDFATHERS WHO ARE NO LONGER WITH US BUT WHO LIVE FOREVER IN OUR MEMORY AND NOURISH US WITH THEIR LOVE. AMEN

The Importance of Scripture Study

The great thing about the readings at Mass is that you can look them up in ad-vance. Our liturgy follows a three-year cycle that walks us through the entire Bible. But one problem is that sometimes it’s difficult to hear or even understand the readings. Then you leave Mass feeling unfed. That’s why its recommended we read the readings ahead of time and get to know God through scripture study. Scripture Study with Deacon Chip breaks open the 3 Sunday readings with prayer, reflection and study.

Join us as we meet every Tuesday in the Office Conference Room beginning at 6:30pm. See Deacon Chip or call him at 210-860-2723 for more information.

Blessed is the one who reads aloud and blessed are those who listen to this prophet-ic message and heed what is written in it, for the appointed time is near. Rev 1:3

Praise the Holy Trinity Some truths, like the very existence of God, can be known by human reason alone. Other truths, like the fact that God is One in Three Persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – can only be known if God reveals them to us. We could never conclude on our own that God is a Trinity. Today’s Feast is not only an opportunity for thanking God for telling us more about himself. It is an occasion to take courage as we strive for deeper unity within the human family. God reveals himself to us in order to make us more like himself – not just as individuals, but as families, na-tions, and an international community. We grow in unity as we give ourselves away to one another, just as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit give themselves to each other completely.

Protect God's Children All volunteers of the parish must receive certification from Pro-tect God's Children Program. We will have a presentation of the program in July for those who have not been cer-tified. For those volunteers who have already been certified you MUST continue to do the updates they send you via email. Thank you so much for your cooperation. Any questions please call the office.

Now and at the Hour of my Death Workshop

Monday, June 24

A Catholic funeral traditionally includes three parts: a vigil (wake) service at a funeral home, the funeral Mass in the church, and commit-tal prayers at the cemetery. We will also cover the Catholic instructions on cremation. The priest, deacon or lay ecclesial minister who assists in planning the funeral rites will work with the family to select the most appropriate liturgical format. Now, you can preplan these rites at the parish.

This workshop will cover a review of the rites per the Order of Christian Funerals Rites Book and preplanning by selecting scripture readings and music selections for your ser-vices.

Monday, June 24 at 7pm in

the Parish Hall

If any questions, please call Ester Perry at the Office 210-922-0543
