RESPONSIVE READING: Exodus 17:8-16

Leader: Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel in

Rephidim.

People: And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men,

and go out, fight with Amalek: to morrow I will stand

on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand.

Leader: So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought

with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to

the top of the hill.

People: And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand,

that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand,

Amalek prevailed.

Leader: But Moses' hands were heavy; and they took a stone,

and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron

and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one

side, and the other on the other side; and his hands

were steady until the going down of the sun.

People: And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with

the edge of the sword.

Leader: And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a

memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of

Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of

Amalek from under heaven.

People: And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it

Jehovahnissi:

...All: For he said, Because the LORD hath sworn that the

LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to

generation.

A message from our Pastor

Praise the LORD, Saints!

Jeremiah 17:7 says, “Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and

whose hope the LORD is.”

It is my prayer that all of our True Love family is still trusting in God. The

Lord is where our hope is. When the prophet Jeremiah penned these

words, he spoke to a people who had become disenchanted by the ills of

their surroundings. They focused more on what they saw physically,

which caused the spiritual light to dim internally. They congregated to

determine what they would do and decided to turn away from God.

A corporate decision to turn away from God is spiritual genocide. An

entire nation of believers can be destroyed when one individual leads a

charge to dismiss the Lord God in favor of man. In the beginning of this

chapter, Jeremiah writes down the sin of Judah’s decision to trust man

and depart from God. The Most High God tells Jeremiah that they will be

cursed for doing so.

Saints, it’s obvious that we put curses on ourselves by neglecting the very

High God who blesses us. We remove ourselves from the pathway of

blessings in favor of traveling roads of destruction. “Hey, look over here.

It’s clear road ahead. The grass is greener, fuller and spacious.”, so says

the devour. Without heeding the stop signs for caution, we accelerate

into the belief that what we see is better than what God has waiting for

us.

I would rather be in close quarters waiting on the Lord than in a vast

expanse of empty promises. Man promises but cannot guarantee

anything. God guarantees that His Word is the promise he keeps. That is

to say, the LORD is my trust and my hope.

Page 6: Missionary Baptist Church€¦ · True Love Missionary Baptist Church 8200 Tireman Avenue, Detroit, MI 48204 Office (313) 931-1177 FAX (313) 931-3065 Website:

“My hope is built on nothing less, than Jesus’ Blood and righteousness. I

dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus’ name.”

That’s a fine hymn to tuck into your spiritual inventory of songs. By

nature, it’s inspiring. By spirit, it is reassuring. Be reassured that God has

not forgotten about us. He knows exactly where we are totally. He has us

where He wants us. He is making us hungrier for fellowship. Thirstier for

His Word. Our appetites should be whet with anticipation of coming to

the table.

The table is ready, the feast is spread, and the choice is yours. I trust the

Master Chef and I hope you enjoy what he has prepared. I know I am. Bon

appétit, my beloved!

Yours because of Christ Jesus,

Pastor H.B. Robinson, Jr., D. Min.

God bless..

Taking it to the Altar

Take your worries, concerns and prayers to the altar and leave them there.

‘Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.’

Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV)

The flowers on the virtual altar are on behalf of Sister Verlisa Mosley in memory of her father, Clarence Garner, Sr. and Sister Louise Garner, her mother. These flowers are also in memory of Brother Alfred Driscoll on behalf of his wife, Sister Betty Driscoll.
