NCAA OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS - JUNE 5Anderson Peters defended his national title in the javelin while leading his teammates to the first sweep of the podium since 1964

State's trio was just the 11th sweep of any event podium in NCAA history. The most recent came in 2015 when Oregon claimed the podium in the men's 1500m. The Ducks' 1964 squad is the only other trio to do so in the men's javelin. MSU has now won the national title in the event in three of the last four years. Along the way, Peters became just the third MSU athlete to claim consecutive national championships. He threw a personal-best

86.62m (284-2), breaking his own school, meet and national records. The Bowerman candidate landed three attempts beyond 84.00m and has now thrown six collegiate all-time top-10 marks this year alone. Curtis Thompson closed his outstanding Bulldog career with another All-American performance. The 2016 national champion threw

78.43m (257-3) to finish second. Freshman Tyriq Horsford started off slowly with a foul and a 70.97m (232-10) throw on his first two attempts. Sitting in sixth place, he vaulted to the bronze-medal position on his third attempt with a mark of 75.59m (248-0).On the track, a pair of Bulldogs saw their decorated careers come to a close. Rasheed Tatham finished 20th in the 400m hurdles

with a run of 51.28. He advanced to the NCAA Championships in every year of his career. 2019 NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS RECAPS

NCAA OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS - JUNE 6Alon Lewis, running in the far outside lane of the second heat, clocked in at 2:12.08 to finish 21st in the 800m. She finished her

career with the fourth-fastest 800m time in school history after she posted a 2:04.98 at the NCAA East Prelims to advance to the Championships this year. The Lake Worth, Florida, native scored at five of her eight SEC Championships and won a conference title indoors on the distance

medley relay in 2017. After adding three marks to the MSU outdoor top-five this season in the 800m, 4x800m and sprint medley relays, Lewis ends her

career tied with Erica Bougard for the all-time lead with 11 total top-five marks in State's outdoor record book. Indoors, she boasts another six such marks, which ranks third, and her 17 total record-book runs are second only to Bougard's 21.Included in those tallies are two school records. Lewis ran each of the top three indoor distance medley relay times in the span of a

month as a sophomore. Later that year she was part of the school-record 4x800m relay team in the outdoor season.

NCAA OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS - JUNE 7Sarah Blake needed all three attempts in the javelin. Blake struggled early, opening the competition with a 42.33m (138-10) throw,

her worst since a 41.87m (137-4) mark in the final round of the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays the last time she was in Austin. But the junior recovered just in time to earn Second-Team All-American honors with her final throw. The Birmingham, Alabama, native tossed the implement 51.00m (167-4) on her final trip down the runway to jump from 20th place

to 11th, where she would finish. That mark is her third-best throw of the year, behind a school-record 52.73m (173-0) effort at the National Relays and 51.33m (168-

5) throw at the NCAA East Prelims. The women's javelin competition was delayed to Friday due to weather. Blake is an All-American for the first time in her career after

landing one place shy of the second team as a freshman at Kentucky. It was her highest career finish at the Championships in her third trip to the finals site. With the conclusion of the men's competition on Friday night at the NCAA Championships, MSU's men finished among the top 15

teams in the country once again.vPlacing 11th with 24 points, the Bulldogs picked up their fourth top-15 finish in the last five years. That score was the third-highest in program history behind a 10th-place finish a year ago with 26 points and a 27-point showing in 1982 when MSU was 17th.

NCAA OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS - JUNE 8Two fifth-year seniors were in action on the final day of the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Tiffany Flynn and Logan Boss both

earned All-American status to close their storied careers. Both women hold the indoor and outdoor school records in their events along with the MSU freshman records.Flynn finished eighth in the triple jump with a leap of 13.32m (43-8.5). She scored MSU's lone point on the women's side of the

competition. The Ellenwood, Georgia, native earned First-Team All-American honors for the fourth time in her career. Her leap was nearly identical to her junior year when she placed eighth with a 13.31m (43-8.0) jump in 2017. Boss who won a bronze medal in the high jump at the 2018 NCAA Indoor Championships, finished tied for 12th in the event this

year. The O'Brien, Florida, native cleared 1.78m (5-10.0) on her third attempt. MSU finished tied for 65th as a team. The 2019 outdoor season saw four women's school records fall along with two freshman

records. The Bulldogs added 14 new marks to the program's all-time outdoor Top Five.
